Beautiful, clean city with four- and five-star hotels. Pricey but wonderful place to visit and pretend to be a jet-setter.

This castle is truly amazing, and if you wonder why I put “sleeping beauty’s castle in the headline, it’s because Walt Disney really used this castle for inspiration while drawing sleeping beauty’s castle in Disney land! The castle itself lies in beautiful surroundings, overlooking the valley of Hohenschwangau and is really worth a visit.

I have visited Ischgl twice, both times the snow has been plentiful, if not a little too much, creating poor visibility! It's the place to come if you want guaranteed snow and lots of it, mainly due to its’ geographical location, it gets lots of heavy snow through the winter months, producing fantastic powder. Through the spring months, it still snows, but with better visibility. Having visited once in each season, I would recommend skiing here in the spring when it is not as cold and the skies are blue, but you still have the powder. Again with so much snow, this resort is better suited to advanced skiers and those who love off-piste conditions. Après ski is great, more sophisticated compared with many other French and Austrian ski destinations. This is certainly a more expensive holiday, but as a foodie I would say that thanks to the array of excellent restaurants, it is worth every penny. The town itself is fairly up market but lacks the atmosphere you would get from Mayrhofen, Zell am See or Kitzbuehel. This is for avid skiers who enjoy the finer things in life, not so practical for families in my opinion.

Continue your journey by traveling to Germany. The Bavarian Alps are home to a very famous castle; “Mad” King Ludwig’s fairy-tale castle of Neuschwanstein, the real-life model for Disneyland’s Sleeping Beauty Castle. Learn about the life and mysterious death of the young king, one of Europe’s most eccentric rulers. King Ludwig so preferred dreams over reality that his servants could address him only from behind a screen. In fact, the original plans for the castle were drawn up by a theater set designer, not an architect.

St. Anton am Arlberg is located at 1300 meters above sea level and has about 2500 inhabitants. Skiing has a long history in this village: even before World War I, the first skiing teachers were employed at St. Anton. Today, the dynamic and international village presents the professional state of the art in large-scale winter tourism: St. Anton is one of Austria's most important vacation resorts. There are hundreds of apartments and dozens of hotels and restaurants, many of them absolute top-class establishments. And there is also a large and very lively après-ski and nightlife scene. The Arlberg skiing area offers 85 (!) ski-lift facilities in total, leading into heights of almost 3000 meters (the highest point accessible by these lifts is the Valluga, 2800 meters above sea level.) More than 250 kilometers of groomed pistes, as well as about 200 kilometers of untouched slopes for ski hikers, 30 kilometers of cross-country skiing runs, a four-kilometer toboggan run (flood-lit twice a week), and so on. St. Anton is perfect for people who wish to pass a winter vacation as comfortably as possible, in a very lively resort, where you are constantly spoilt for choice - whether it comes to accommodation, restaurants, sports facilities or nightlife.

Situated 1,500 meters above sea level in the valley of Paznaun, Kappl boasts a broad range of modern winter sports facilities. A state-of-the-art chair lift takes skiers and snowboarders up to a height of 2,700 meters where they can enjoy over 40 kilometers of ski runs. The area around the village contains a lovely hiking route, a 7 kilometers cross-country course and a 12 kilometers long natural toboggan course which is lit up at night. The village itself is fairly quiet. Those looking for a lively après ski scene should head to nearby Ischgl.

A tiny mountain hamlet, located at 1800 meters above sea level, right in the Arlberg skiing area. Some might associate St. Christoph with the internationally known brotherhood of the same name, a charity organization based in this village, which is also in charge of the local Arlberghospiz founded in the 14th century. St. Christoph has a very idiosyncratic charm of its own — though the local accommodations range from hostel to five-star hotel, the whole spectrum of comfort, there is very little choice - St. Christoph is the essential pick in itself. This means that you get round the hustle and bustle of the typical Arlberg vacation strongholds. On the other hand, in St. Christoph, you're right in the middle of the Arlberg skiing area, with its 85 ski-lifts and hundreds of kilometers of well-groomed pistes and natural slopes. And if you feel like partying, you can descend to the near and very lively St. Anton on your skis

Pettneu has about 1000 inhabitants and is located in the Stanzer valley, at about 1200 meters above sea level. This village is a good alternative for people who don't want to miss out on the many possibilities and the great comfort of the large Arlberg skiing region, but at the same time would like to get round the dizzying hustle and bustle in vacation centers such as St. Anton, for instance. Accommodations in Pettneu are simpler and rather unpretentious on average (mainly pensions and apartments, a few farmhouses and hotels of the three- and four-star categories.) St. Anton, with its busy après-ski and nightlife scenes, is only five kilometers away, and there's a free shuttle service taking you right into this popular vacation resort and the skiing area accessible from there: 260km of groomed pistes and 85 ski-lift facilities are waiting. Pettneu itself features 15km of pistes, several kilometers of cross-country ski runs, and a natural toboggan run (which is lighted in the evenings.

A wonderful place with now doubt, one of my favourites in Germany.
This fantastic castle was built in 1869 ordered by the king Ludwing II (king of Baviera) who wanted a castle which could remind people about farytales and fantastic worlds. For sure he got that, as we can see Disney itself took this castle as inspiration for their sleepy beautys' castle. (you can see a reproduction at disneyland paris)
Placed in an ideal spot, the most wonderful for those lovers of nature. From a small bridge located near the castle you can enjoy the amazing views which will catch your atention completely.
The best is going to the castle within an organised trip so you dont have to be in line, waiting for the tickets because the staff do it for you.
There is a personal guide avaliable in german an english, and if you speak any other languages you can get with your ticket a "recorded tour" avaliable in a lot of languages.
It is extrictly forbidden to take pics or recordings inside the castle.
A place you will never forget where you can live your own fairytale ;)

I have visited the castle, which was build in 1868, in spring-time. It was around noon, by the time, we walked from the parking-lot, up to the castle. Beautiful scenery just on the walk up there. Once you can see the castle, peeking through the tree's, you are just speechless. At the castle, we signed up for an english-tour, which had very friendly tour-guides, open for any questions you have and their english is just outstanding.
New Swan Stone Castle is a must for your first visit in Germany. It's a memory for life and I will definatlyl take another tour on my next visit in Germany.
