This place has three stars and the office of tourism 'palm.' The reputation of Carlton hotels says it all, and this place certainly doesn't lower the standard. It is not the most luxurious of the chain but it keeps the style that reins in all the others. You may be surprised by where it is, as it is on a little discreet road between the Cordeliers and the place Bellecour, and seeing the liveliness of the roads around it, it is a significant pocket of calm. From here you only have to go to the unmissable Rue de République or the quays of the Rhône to be in the centre.

In comparison to the other places listed, this hotel can be seen as a small step down. There are no hair dryers, no internet, but, in my opinion, that is part of what makes its charm and why I decided to add it to the 'top' list. Its a historical building and all of the rooms reflect that extremely well, probably better than any other hotel I've ever seen in France. Huge grounds, quiet, perfect place for a wedding ceremony or just to get away from it all. If you are want to see, know, understand and live a true, authentic 'Breton' experience, you'll love this place.

This place is simply grandiose! The arrival following the long driveway alongside the huge lake, seeing the fortress in the distance, realizing; 'Wait, I'll be staying here!?!' Very well done proprety, a little bit out of the way of all the other nearby tourist attrcations so you feel like you can relax, yet, you can see some very amazing things not too far away.

This centrally located establishment, close also to the rail station, is ideal for businessmen and tourists. The rooms at the New Hôtel Select are modern and comfortable, the staff is hospitable and the small indoor garden is a perfect place to relax. Located close to most attractions and sight-seeing spots, this hotel is great for those looking for a suitable place to stay when on a fun trip to Marseille.  

A superb façade enriched with an old-style gable indicates without ambiguity the quality of this place. However, the room prices are far from astronomic, especially when you consider where it is situated: next to the Célestins Theater, virtually facing the Place Éponyme(one of the most tranquil of the center), and near to Bellecour. The rooms are decorated in warm red hues, or golden yellow shades and you can also see trace of cool colors here and there. You might also come across a famous fresco or two while at the hotel. What more could you ask for? Parking maybe, but the quays aren't far after all.

Le Méridien Nice is right across the street from the beach with most rooms boasting of beautiful sea views. Very centrally located, it is just five minutes' walk from the famous Place Masséna, the Jardin Albert 1er and the old town: a must-see for its picturesque houses and winding alleyways. This hotel is equipped with all the latest in comfort and facilities, including a roof-top pool. On the ground floor, there is a casino with slot machines and cabaret shows. Indulge in the excellent cuisine served in the restaurant, Le Colonial Café.

Hôtel Alton lies in a quiet district by the city's large football stadium, Stade Lescure. You can get to the city center in a few minutes by public transport, and it's not far even on foot. Rooms all have en-suite bathroom and direct telephone. It's a perfect, pleasantly decorated place to stay when seeing the city, and it's good value. The Olicia restaurant offers regional dishes in a pleasant setting, with outside tables in summer.

Mercure Lyon Wilson is an impeccable building, both inside and out, and enjoys a very practical location, this place is an address to remember. A short ten or so meters from the left bank of the Rhône (at the far West end of the 3rd arrondissement), in a few minutes you can be in any one of the big quarters of Lyon and benefit from a relative calm. The rooms are comfortably furnished and exude an aura of warmth. You can make use of the business room for organizing your meetings and conferences. Put aside five minutes to see the sun disappear behind the Fourvière hill: at the end of Mazenod street the sight makes for the detour.

Located in a wee place about ten kilometers from from the city center of Lyons, this little camp site has no pretentious but is very well situated. A neighbor of the little Beauregard park, it is in the middle of a rural scene which is extremely calm and only a few minutes from the center of St-Genis-Laval. If you decide to go for a walk, go see the Lorette Fort, sadly made famous by the atrocities of Klaus Barbie. From there the view of the valley is magnificent and the surrounding countryside has much charm.

Located on the periphery, this modern establishment has comfortable, air-conditioned, well-equipped rooms and friendly staff. Some rooms open onto peaceful indoor gardens. The owners know the town and neighboring places of interest very well, and will be pleased to advise you on what to see during your stay. The 3-star accommodation is very reasonably priced, making this a popular choice for both families and business travelers.

No one cannot know the history of lavender without leaving Provence. Musée de la Lavande is the place where visitors can see the machines that farmers used to dry the lavender and to create scents such as soaps and perfume. This museum also explains its rich history of growing lavender through its movie and exhibit. Without any doubts, there is a boutique with many wonderful lavender goods.

This hotel has a unique medieval charm to it. Right from the decor of the rooms to the reception area has a medieval touch to it. Staying at this peaceful place will probably take you back in time. All the present day amenities are available here which include internet, gymnasium, tour desk and much more. There is also a bar and lounge to unwind after a long day of shopping or sight seeing. Located close to the historic Place des Vosges square, Hotel de la Place des Vosges offers easy comfort at a moderate price. Built 350 years ago, the two-star hotel served as the stable of Henri IV, and its architecture does not hide its historical antecedents. It has marbled floors, stone walls, exposed columns, classical furniture, and televisions hanging from the ceiling. The room at the top floor allows you to gaze at the homes of the Marais neighborhood. However, it may be more fun to simply visit the square, the Bastille, the Louvre and other historical sites nearby.

This is one of the best hotels to put up at if you're planning to do some sight-seeing. Located between the Opera and Madeleine Church, famous landmarks, such as Place de la Concorde and the beautiful Champs-Élysées are within walking distance. Each room is intricately decorated, with a cozy feel to it. Opt for this hotel if a night at the opera and shopping to your heart's content is on your mind.

Located half way between the Place des Jacobins and the Place des Terreaux going towards Terreaux, Rue Dubois is dotted with places to admire: the Printing museum, St Nizier Church, and, in the Place, St Pierre Palace, and the splendid: Museum of the Beaux-Arts.
