A cheap, cheerful, fun boat on the Victoria embankment. It’s Spanish themed, serving authentic tapas and playing Salsa style music you can dance to once you’ve eaten. It’s not the most glamorous of places but it’s got great views of the river, really good value and so much fun.

This restaurant is great if you love Dim Sum it. It’s described as a tea house and serves many different types of tea as well as the Dim Sum. The surroundings are really modern and I believe it has a Michelin Star.

A hip, below ground Chinese food wonder, Hakkasan is quickly becoming known for its fantastic food and atmosphere. I highly recommend this.

Perhaps the best known pub in the City of London, this 17th century establishment is tucked back in a small side alley in the middle of an unassuming neighborhood. If you can find it, you won’t be disappointed with its dark paneled walls and gloomy yet cozy little rooms. Set on four floors, not counting the vaulted cellars, you will find a multitude of tiny little stone rooms and secluded corners. Frequented by a number of famous authors – Yeats, Voltaire, Dickens to name a few, it’s not surprising that they found the solitude they were seeking in this large but inviting pub. Sawdust floors, cracked wooden benches set into stone walls and beamed ceilings add to the warm ambiance. Hearty English fare and handpumped Sam Smiths beer are on offer.

This small 300-year-old wooden fronted pub is the oldest in Covent Garden and is tucked back in an alley between Floral Street and Garrick Lane. Best known for its colorful past, it used to be called the Bucket of Blood because of the bare-knuckle prize fights held there. Jump forward 300 years and the Lamb and Flag still retains some of that edge. There are two small bars downstairs and one upstairs but most people prefer to drink outside due to the large crowds and narrow stairwells. The downstairs still retains much of its original appeal with low ceilings, paneled walls and pine floors. Beer is somewhat expensive but that is the norm for the ever-popular Covent Garden.

A five minutes' walk north from Tower Hill will get you to vibrant Cafe Spice Namaste at 16 Prescot Street, where charismatic t.v. personality and award-winning chef Cyrus Todiwala combines the authentic and contemporary in Indian cuisine. Fresh, flavorful curries and tandooris feature but unusual meats such as crocodile and ostrich sometimes make it onto the menu which can be checked out at www.cafespice.co.uk. On Sundays, they serve a hard-to-find traditional Parsee roast. Not all the food is overly hot but if you order the "squid dynamite", you'd better have an Indian beer or special mango cocktail handy to put out the fire. The place is always full of regulars and if he's not out shopping for fresh organic ingredients, Mr. Todiwala circulates among the tables personally, chatting with the clientele about his obvious passion: food. If you go there often enough he may name a dish after you!

Bar Salsa on the Charing cross road have free lessons on a Wednesday nights, it’s so much fun if you get a group together. The actual club’s got a real authentic Latin feelso it’s a great place to try your moves out afterwards.

At the back of Borough Market is the elevator to trendy and popular Roast restaurant. Here in the portico of the former flower market, New Britannia meets classic British cuisine. Traditional English roasts are served at lunch and dinner. Equally famous for their breakfasts, Roast is the place for a long, langorous weekend brunch. The view of St. Paul's Cathedral is available all day.

If you arrive later in the day, the Market Porter pub (just across from the south back entrance of Borough Market) is the place for pub grub and a few pints. The bar's exterior makes a brief appearance as a backdrop for the punchup between Colin Firth and Hugh Grant in the first Bridget Jones flick.

As the sun sets, walk west along the Thames from Tate Modern a little ways and you'll encounter the Founders Arms right on the water. Their patio is warmed by flaming braziers, especially picturesque at night and surprisingly effective at fighting chill. Ask and staff will lend you a blanket to snuggle in if you want your drink and munchies served outside. Just the place to watch London's night illuminations twinkle on.

Affordable and fun Japanese food. You sit on big wooden trestle tables, are served complimentary green tea and your food is served within minutes. Healthy eating is their motto and you will definitely feel great after a plate of noodles or some curry. Lots of locations all over London - there is even one at Terminal 5!

A little more upmarket than my other recommendations but the price is still great for London. French food served in an intimate bistro setting. Their motto is ' the best steak-frites this side of Paris'.
