Pizzeria

Although relatively young for the honor, Pizzeria is almost like an old Mumbai institution, with an air of a place that has been around. The restaurant also serves beer, making it an ideal place for a lazy weekend lunch or a relaxed casual night-out meal. The view from this pizza place is another selling point. For a city filled with chaotic streets and busy bylanes, Pizzeria is located on Marine Drive and overlooks the beautiful Arabian Sea. The restaurant doesn't have its own washroom though, and shares facilities with its cheek-by-jowl sister concern Not Just Jazz By The Bay, a Mumbai landmark in its own right.

Lido Bar

It's like you are in a time warp. A little impersonal, a little bit too comfortable. It's like a place where everybody knows your name. Lido has a loyal clientele, but it attracts an eclectic tourist crowd as well. It is ideal for a tete-a-tete over a Martini in the afternoon or some Scotch and Soda in the evenings. The service and the delicious Italian fare adds to the reason why the Lido is frequented by the cream of society.

Mocha

Near the Churchgate station and on the restaurant strip is Mocha: a coffee shop and a wine bar. It offers more than 70 different types of wine and an exotic selection of coffee from all over the world. There are flavored hookahs everywhere. You can either opt for lounging outside amidst the rustic bamboo sticks or sprawling inside on the plush satin sofas and low-seating arrangements. It is like an Arabic fantasy land come true complete with costumes and curios. You need a reservation on weekends and weekday evenings.

Dome

This swish white open-air cocktail lounge on the rooftop of the InterContinental offers stunning views of the Mumbai coastline and the Marine Drive promenade. Sink into a plush couch and enjoy the cool breeze as you sip your drink. The bar serves a selection of cigars and wines from across the globe. A variety of eats, from bite size snacks and kebab platters to international grills and sushi, are also on offer. On certain nights of the week, the Dome becomes the venue for live acts. 210°C Veg Gourmet Bakery

Just outside the popular Samrat restaurant at Churchgate is this small cake shop which specializes in 100% vegetarian cakes and pastries. The place takes orders for personalized cakes and offers breads, croissants, brownies, sandwiches and pizza along with coffee. Hugely popular amongst college students and office-goers, this place is a great to grab a bite before starting the day or for an afternoon cup of coffee. Food is cheap and the service prompt and there's a 30% discount between 11p-11:45p.

Flavors

The happy hours are really long here from 4:30p to 10:30p. This is an ideal place to drop in after a hectic night at the neighboring nightclub to hang out until the wee hours of the morning, enjoying the rather loud music and exotic cocktails. This small all-night cafe is done up in crystal clear glass and some very bright lighting. It is famous after midnight for its cool ambience, Jell-O shots, the jukebox and pizzas. The Lebanese Mezz platter, sandwiches and steaks are not bad either. There is a midnight buffet as well.

Markiv's

Markiv's is a cute little cafe-cum-cake shop in the commercial heart of south Bombay. Located just opposite Churchgate station and a few yards away from Asiatic Department Store, this place is mostly frequented by office-goers and college students. The bright yellow interiors and the deep orange and blue furniture lend a feel-good ambiance to the cafe. The refreshments on offer include chicken sandwiches, sheekh kebabs, puffs and more. The chocolate items range from cakes and brownies to tarts and pastries and are simply out of the world. A diverse range of coffee and chocolate drinks are also available.
