Bobby London

This British—style bar is the perfect place to hear loud live music, and 'get away from it all'. Decor is dark red and Scottish in flavor, and the walls are hung with portraits. Enjoy a beer or a snack, such as Dried Cuttlefish and Potato Chips. Although the prices are a little steep, the bar is always crowded. Foreign bands too are seen performing their own music here. Get there early, because the nearer you sit to the front of the stage, the greater the fun!

The Library

Don't let the name confuse you, The Library is actually a lounge located at the Hotel Shilla in Seoul. The atmosphere at this place is laid-back and soothing and the interiors are contemporary. Gorge on light snacks and desserts including creamy New York Cheese Cakes, Tiramisu and Coffee Chocolate Pie. There is an extensive drinks menu that features seventy odd supreme malt whiskeys and around 250 wines from all over the world. Enjoy live performances by Jazz bands while you sip on your drink. If want to some time alone, then pick up a book on history, culture or art and get cozy in one of the soft cushioned couches. This place also makes a good venue for hosting small private parties and functions.

Roden

This historic building was the first cafe to be built in Myongdong. It is a great place to "drop" for a while after shopping around the popular fashion district. Simple but attractive decorations, comfortable wooden chairs and soft lighting create a relaxed and restful atmosphere, while classical or jazz music adds to the peaceful ambiance. Sip a hot chocolate or a black tea, or indulge in a slice of Rich Chocolate Cake. Just make sure you can still fit into your new purchases when you leave.

Oak Room

Situated in the basement of the Hilton Hotel, the Oak Room is a traditional English-style bar with live entertainment. About 500 boxes are available to store any alcohol until your next visit. A wide variety of drinks are on offer, including cocktails, Korean Whisky, Skacchi, port and rum. Three different appetizers are served with every alcoholic order. The bar features wood panelling, soft lighting, comfortable chairs and the scenic view of a natural bamboo forest. It is a little expensive, but worth it for the excellent service, lovely decor and fine drinks available.

Compass Rose

Popular for both business drinks and romantic dinners, Compass Rose offers live jazz every evening. Its name means that it can be found from any direction. About 400 English and Korean books are situated near the entrance, adding to the sophisticated ambiance. A wide range of drinks is available, including French, Italian, and Australian wines, cocktails, whisky, gin, vodka, rum, cognac, brandy, and beer from all over the world.
