Bang & Jensen

Bang & Jensen is on Istedgade; the former red-light district of Copenhagen. The interior is fun and kitschy, and the ambiance is friendly. Popular here are the ancient pinball machines and the table football. Most of the clientele at this cafe consists of the young and the trendy, especially young women. A specialty here is the breakfast, which is served all through the day until 6pm. It is actually more of a brunch. The unique thing about it is that you are given a form, on which you fill in exactly how you want your food served.

Høeg's

Café Høeg's is situated on the outer Vesterbro, where in the summer it is charming to sit outside and enjoy the sun and perhaps a beer.

Hackenbusch

Hackenbusch on Vesterbro is one of the oldest and most eccentric cafés here. Not a single day is like any other in here, and you may find the waiters a bit crazy. One day they were serving fish soup and all the waiters were dressed in diving suits. Another day all wore doctors' coats. At Hackenbusch you can enjoy interesting meals in the restaurant section towards the back of the room. Try for example their famous frog burger. After a good meal, when the kitchen closes at 10pm, you can continue at the bar towards the front, where you can hang out and have fun all night. Dancard is accepted as a method of payment.

Riesen

Small, but stylish Riesen features the latest alternative and indie music acts. Their drink menu highlights favorites like Bloody Marys and Kamikaze shots to help you enjoy the show. You can also play games with your buddies while you chill out with a glass of beer. See their website for a list of upcoming events.

Mc.Kluud's

This authentic Danish nightspot features a full bar, pool tables, and a pinball machine. Mc.Kluud's hardy drink menu includes a range of spirits, beers, and sodas and a limited selection of burgers and sandwiches is also served. If you're looking for a true Danish experience, then be sure to stop by.

Café Viggo

This quirky café, located on the erstwhile eating street, is also an important spot for bar-hoppers on Friday nights. It offers French food and drinks and the menu is as creative as the décor with comic strips of the cartoon character, Gaston ( Viggo in Danish), painted on the walls. The café attracts a wide variety of customers ranging from coffee lovers to party animals. The brunch buffet is extremely popular amongst the locals. Making a reservation during the weekend is a good idea.

Paradis

This Italian ice cream parlor, located on the corner of a bustling square, offers a whole range of sundaes, scoops, shakes, cakes and coffees at reasonable prices. It is guaranteed by the owners that all the ice cream available is fresh and prepared in the past 24 hours. The creamy consistency and rich flavors also vouch for this fact. Sugar-free ice cream is also available on request and requires prior ordering. Its popularity is obvious from the success of over five branches in different parts of the city. Checking for special offers, flavors and their availability on-line, is suggested.

Fox Kitchen & Bar

Fox Kitchen & Bar is the restaurant at Hotel Fox in Copenhagen. The restaurant serves Nordic food made from locally produced ingredients and features a funky cocktail bar that whips up delicious and creative cocktails. The waiter recommends cocktails to go with every dish as well as a pre and post dinner cocktail. The ambience and decor is urban, minimalist and spacious in tune with all the international cocktail lounges.

Rosie McGee

Put on your best dress (no sneakers allowed), flash your best smile, and enter the lively world of Rosie McGee. One step away from fairy-tale Tivoli lies your evening of dining, drinking and dancing in one of Copenhagen's largest bars. The interior is known to be one of the most expensively done-up in Scandinavia, and it boasts of over 100 beer taps. Most people here are in their mid-twenties. The restaurant is open from noon till 11p from Monday to Saturday and till 10p on Sunday. On some weekdays, there is live music.

Hard Rock Café Copenhagen

Dreaming of seeing the shirt John Lennon was wearing while recording Whatever Gets You Through The Night in 1974? Or Gary Glitter's stage suit from 1970? Then Hard Rock Café is the place. As usual, it is located on a hot spot in the center of town. The food is American, as is the Hard Rock Café concept. A choice of burgers, smokehouse specialties and sandwiches are on the menu. Why not try the neatly described Thick-cut Hickory Smoked Center-cut Pork Chop basted with a spicy-sweet Jim Beam Honey Bourbon Glaze, served with Roasted Garlic Smashed Potatoes, Homemade Gravy and Coleslaw!(yummy) Loads of guitars, records and even Lars Ulrich's (Metallica) old drum kit are here. Among all these collector's items, the restaurant has room for more than 80 guests. There is a souvenir shop as well, where you can buy T-shirts, glasses and other things.

Den Røde Pimpernel

People dance cheek-to-cheek and the rooms are filled with warmth and tenderness. Den Røde Pimpernel has existed for almost 40 years and is one of the most popular bar/dance halls for the older generation of Copenhageners. The dance floor rocks, jitterbugs and swings to old Danish classics and there is live music Thursday to Saturday. The restaurant is open every day and has a wide variety of Danish specialties. Thursday is Ladies' Night, when ladies have free admission all night.

The Dubliner

It is almost a saying, and it is also true: all pedestrian streets in Copenhagen lead to The Dubliner. This proud and friendly Irish pub sits on the most central square in the most central part of Copenhagen. WhereKøbmagergade meets Strøget, people meet; and many have met each other at the long tables of The Dubliner. This pub has live music every night from 10p until late and lots of Guiness, Kilkenny and Irish whiskey to go with it. If you haven't tried Bushmills, this is your chance. The kitchen is open from 10a to 10p and the house specialty is still the infamous Beef and Guinness Pie.
