Port Dock Brewery Hotel

Built in 1855, this excellent establishment has experienced a chequered history. Forced to close in the early part of the 20th century, the Port Dock is now the only pub in the state brewing beer on its premises. Brewery and cellar tours are conducted on request. The old stone hotel has been extended and supports an extensive bistro with modern furnishings. The hotel menu offers a range of meals, from warm chicken salad to Bosun's Pie! However, the four house-brewed beers are the main attraction. Hot-shot cocktails are also a specialty.

Lipson Cafe

Primarily a lunchtime eatery, this charming cafe combines light and tasty fare with popular pavement dining. On weekday evenings (Wednesday to Friday), Lipson entices with succulent offerings from a modest set-menu. Inside, you will find a small, cafe-style restaurant with a simple wood and brick interior. On sunny days diners dive under sunshades on Lipson Street, opposite the South Australian Maritime Museum. Delectable dishes include pasta, stroganoff, salads and a perennial favourite, Phud Thani. For afters, do not miss the mouth-watering gateaux and cheesecakes. A refined selection of South Australian wines features on the wine list.

Excelsior

Fans of the mystical comic strip super hero, "The Phantom," will adore this 140-year old pub. A huge Phantom fan, owner Brad Barreau has created his own "Phantom Phantasy" tribute to the "ghost who walks." Themed throughout, with purple walls (the color of the Phantom's skin-tight suit), Phantom comic strips and caricatures adorn the walls. The trademark masked eyes symbol is even carved into chairs. The Excelsior is a friendly and unique pub and a great spot for a "Phantom Pheed." Try the Phantom's Eye Phillet, the Jungle Stir-fry or perhaps the Ghost Roast.
