Idlewild Park

My first amusement park ever was Idlewild Park. It is a nice little amusement park that will take the day to fully enjoy. They have wonderful "crystal" suckers in the shapes of horses in the sweet shoppe. There is the "Story book Lane" area as well, with cute houses that are for nursery rhymes. A day pass is $30 but a season pass is just over $64, so if you want to go more than twice in a summer, a season pass is worth it.

Dutch Wonderland

Be treated like royalty and have fun at the same time. This is very nice for younger children. There is a place for moms to nurse and plenty of help for lost tots. Nice kiddie rides too. The price for a ticket is about $32, a bit more than other small parks.

Hersheypark

The biggest most sensational amusement park in Pennsylvania, in my humble opinion. If you take your kids to Hershey, expect the same excitement as going to Disney. Local schools take older students for field trips. This is the perfect park for older kids, ages 9 and up. It will set you back for tickets, at about $52 a pop. It has a deal going with Dutch Wonderland, where you get entrance to both for about $70.

Sesame Place

A great place for little kids ages 2 years an up. With rides for you and your pre-schooler to pal around on. It is very child friendly having all of your favorite Sesame Characters. The price for one adult and one three year old child is about $106, so bring plenty of cash.

Kennywood Park

My grandmother took me here when I was 8 years old. It was the most exciting time I had ever had. I remember the roller coaster as if it were yesterday, because it was the first one I was ever on. It has plenty of places to catch a drink or some food and tickets aren't nearly as expensive as other parks at about $36 a pop. Expect to spend the day and still have the kids wanting to stay. I know I begged grandma mercilessly to stay.
