PADI TRAINING COURSES AND PRICES

Kinasi operates Blue World Diving and Watersports, with full PADI instruction. We are pleased to offer a full complement of training courses from beginner to advanced and specialised training under the tuition of our Dive Instructor. For newcomers to diving we offer the PADI familiarisation - Discover Scuba Diving - pool training and short resort courses, so don't worry if you do not have a diving licence.

Weddings and Honeymoons

Wouldn’t it be fun to get married on a tropical island, bare feet in the sand, fruit punch in your hand, and a cigar in your top pocket…..If you want to marry in Mafia and you want the actual marriage procedure to be carried out at Kinasi on the beach, at the poolside veranda or under the shade trees we will do it !

Bird Watching

Bird watching in Mafia adds a very interesting dimension to a Tanzania wildlife safari, as the visitor will see many species of shorebird, including migrants such as the Crab Plover, and other species found in coastal thickets and mangroves that cannot be observed in the National Parks and Reserves.
The visitor will see many spectacular rollers (Lilac-breasted) and bee-eaters (White-cheeked) between Kilindoni and Kinasi, and there are five species of sunbird in the Kinasi gardens. The black or white Dimorphic Heron is the common species at roosts in Chole Bay. The Kinasi Nature Trail has been designed with bird-watching very much in mind.

Fishing

Mafia offer light sport fishing (trolling or casting) from our two dhows, which are equipped with 25 hp outboard engines, or more serious game fishing with a more professional array of rods and equipment from Pyxis, a 26-foot fiberglass boat with twin Yamaha engines.
Also, night and day-time bottom fishing trips can be arranged as well as trips accompanying local fishermen on their boats. (ask in Kinasi Lodge)

Sailing & Kayak

In Kinasi Lodge we have three wind-surfers and five kayaks available to our guests. There is a boatman to help and move the boards to Utende Beach if you wish to sail when the tide is out at Kinasi. Arrange this activity with the Dive Instructor or Activities Manager. Please advise us if you have not had previous experience with these boats, as they are fragile and costly to repair.

Lua Cheia Beach Camp

LUA CHEIA is our new simple luxury camp located on Ras Bweni. Here we have six large tents under thatched “bandas” with verandahs leading directly onto the beach. We have kept the site as simple and undisturbed as possible while providing all the necessary comforts. The rooms face north-west and take advantage of the sea breezes during the hot-season as well as the marvelous sunsets. Food is served always from the barbecue and the wooden floors of the bar and restaurant, the antique and dhow-wood furniture and the soft sand under your tent floors conspire to give the “barefoot” experience we want our guests to enjoy.

This part of Mafia is where the beautiful beaches have been formed. In contrast the Chole Bay side of Mafia is superb for diving and snorkelling. A journey to the north takes the visitor to a completely different part of Mafia that is quite another world of vegetation, beaches and activities.

The stunning feature of the location is the nearly 3 km of beach stretching away in both directions, all yours…..the sand is white and pure and one can always swim, despite tidal changes. And the complete isolation from any other tourist facility or commercial activity of any kind. Solitude, nature, complete relaxation.
