New Zealand

Kicking off the 2009 season was Three Sheets New Zealand. You may or may not know that this country has a special place in my heart to begin with, so I was hoping Zane would portray it in a positive light.

Although none of the towns made Zane's top 30 list of drinking cities, he still had fun in this rough and tumble country. Queenstown made a special impression on him. A city known for its extreme adventure activities, they necessarily had to come up with an extreme concoction. Zane also learns the rich history of Scottish settlers to NZ, and how they brought their love of single malt Scotch whiskey with them.

Tanzania

Zane travels to Tanzania for the second episode of the season. He gets to try some of the local moonshine, which is illegal to make. Somehow a mason jar of it "happened to show up, and on one knows how it got there." Hrm.....

The other interesting drink is the "bee brew" of the Masai people. The process of making this "African Bush" style mead is gone over in detail. It tastes like beer, but is much more alcoholic! Also, don't forget to filter out the bees before you start drinking.....

Lithuania

Zane travels to Lithuania to explore the country's pagan past..... and to get his drink on, of course.

You too can visit this lovely country in Northern Europe, and discover the Baltic firsthand. And don't forget to visit the Roman Catholic Cathedral in Vilnius, one of the premier attractions, and a landmark of the city. For those of you not in the know, Vilnius is the capital of Lithuania, and the largest city as well.

Netherlands Antilles

Zane tries his hand at Saint-Martin, as well as Sint Maarten. This tiny, tropical island in the Caribbean is still split between the French and the Dutch. This division goes back all the way to 1648; you'd think someone would have figured this out by now? St. Maarten, Saint Martin, Netherlands Antilles, French overseas collectivities..... its confusing for a drunkard, you know?

And what a place to choose, Zane! The Dutch side of the island is known for its crazy nightlife, and the French side is known for its nude beaches. Zane learns how the locals doctor their own rum, and also picks up other exotic liquors of the island, such as guavaberry.

Cape Town, South Africa

Hey, another country I have personal experience with! Zane travels to Cape Town, South Africa, and YOU SHOULD TO. Absolutely love this picture of Table Mountain.

I do have to say though, I never did get to sample the Afrikaner firewater known as "Witblits" when I was down there. Trust the Three Sheets host to find the best local poisons. What an accurate, descriptive name, too - Witblits.

Travel like Zane: visit some wineries and sample the local brews. The vineyards around Cape Town are starting to make a name for themselves; the climate is, after all, perfect for wine-making.

Hawaii, USA

Yet another visit to drink in a tropical paradise.... either way, a fun way to combine business (your travelogue TV show) with pleasure and relaxation.

Only in Hawaii would people attempt things like coconut porter and cane beer. Zane isn't deterred however, and goes for it. I don't think anyone needs an excuse to go to Hawaii, but if you're a die-hard Zane follower, it should be on your list.

Coconut porter? Hrm, I don't know about that one.....
