Teatre Museu Dali

For those that like the famed Spanish surrealist artist Salvador Dali you will need to take a trip to Figueres. Figueres is the hometown of Dali and he built a museum here on the building of site of the 19th century ruins of a Municipal Theatre. The museum contains the broadest range of works of the artist. It can be reached in a day trip from Barcelona.

Museo del Prado

If you love art you'll love Madrid and the Museo del Prado. The collection inside is impressive with sculptures, drawings, paintings and other art objects. In fact the scale can be overwhelming. Predominantly there are Spanish works of the past 500 years but you can also choose from Italian, Flemish, French, Dutch, German or English artists. There are famous names like Velázquez, Goya, Raphael, Rubens and Bosch. There's even some works of Rembrandt.

Museo Nacional Centro De Arte Reina Sofia

The Reina Sofia is the vanguard of Spain's more contemporary art, including works from Salvador Dali and Pablo Picasso which is probably why most people come here. There's also works by Juan Gris, Joan Miro, Antonio Saura and Eduardo Chillida.

Museo Thyssen - Bornemisza

A collection purchased from the private collection of a German-Hungarian family with works from Titian, El Greco, Rubens, Cezanne, Monet, Van Gogh, Miro, Picasso, Gris, Pollock, Dali and Lichenstein.

Museo Guggenheim Bilbao

The famous Guggenheim museum here has created a name for this industrial city. Treasures in the museum are largely taken from the New York Guggenheim's treasure chest and include works by Picasso, Braque, Ernst, Schiele, Kandinsky and Miro. The outside structure is equally stunning.
