San Diego Zoo

I've only been to 4 zoos in my life: San Francisco, Oakland, Sacramento, and the San Diego Zoo. I must admit, I don't think any zoo can top the San Diego Zoo. They put so much effort and attention to the care of their animals.

This zoo is so big that you will probably need two days before you can finish viewing everything in its entirety. We brought along our two young daughters and they loved it. At first, they were cranky because we went to the zoo during a heat wave, but as the day began to cool down, they really started getting into viewing the animal attractions.

This year, the zoo debut the Elephant Odyssey and it's definitely worth the wait. This exhibit is humongous and very educational. As you enter the exhibit, you learn about the prehistoric ancestors to the Elephant, the Lions, jaguar, etc.

Their children zoo is well maintained. My kids didn't want to leave. There is a Dr. Seuss garden with a nice and clean playground and petting zoo.

The zoo also has their own puppet show of "Puff the Magic Dragon" that they put on with real puppets, singing, and magic. You should defnitely catch that.

My favorite exhibit was the Panda, Polar Bear, and the gorillas. I have to admit, the gorilla exhibit was really hidden away in the "Lost Forest". This section is so big that you can get lost. I so wanted to see the newborn baby Panda, but it won't be introduce until December.

There are a lot of uphill walking so be sure to wear your most comfortable shoes. There are tour buses and all, but you get the real experience and a workout by walking.
