Biergarten German Pub and Restaurant

Despite the name, there is no actual beer garden and you have to drink inside, but you can still savor the atmosphere of a real Biergarten by drinking a lot and eating even more. Plenty of German beers and dishes are available and as with most German bars, you get a friendly, drink-as-much-as you-like atmosphere.

Brewery Tap Pub

What a great deal—running from Sunday to Friday between 5p and 9p, you can eat as much Nepalese curry as you like for a small price! Great food, plus an exhaustive range of draught bitters, lagers and bottled beers, makes this a top Hong Kong drinking hole. The interior is fashioned around a British pub, with wooden tables and bar chairs, and the terrace outside allows you space to relax and enjoy the flamenco guitarists entertaining diners at the restaurant opposite.

The Bostonian

Steer well clear of this hotel restaurant if seafood is not your thing because the menu is packed with lobster, lobster, and, well, lobster. For variety, the lobsters are served in 10 different ways, including grilled, steamed, mornay, thermidor, Cajun-styled, blackened, with garlic and cheese. Meanwhile, meat lovers can feast on their Black Angus. Whilst sampling this profusion of dishes, diners can grab colored crayons on the table and unleash their creativity through random doodling on the wax-paper tablecloths, and if this doesn't keep the kids quiet, it will certainly entertain the adults!

Snow Garden

The service at this restaurant has improved considerably over the years even though it can still be inconsistent. The excellent Shanghainese food, however, continues to make it a favourite with families. Prices are not expensive at all and you can expect a thoroughly filling meal no matter what you order.

Ser Wong Fun

Do not be put off by the thought of having snake soup because it is actually very good. At this renowned restaurant, a bowl of snake soup can be a hearty meal in itself. But, if you prefer not to try this delicacy, there is always a good selection of noodles and congee.

Moon Garden

Dim sum for lunch and traditional Cantonese dishes for dinner make this restaurant a good overall choice even though the attraction here tends to be the prices rather than the food. In general, the selection is not bad and the service is fairly consistent but the food is not really memorable.

Grissini

Located in the Grand Hyatt, Grissini's is one of the top Hong Kong restaurants for business lunches and dinners. Vast black marble columns, colonnaded arches and geometrical wooden flooring create an elegant atmosphere in which to sample creamy risottos, baked sea bass topped with black olives and pine nuts, as well as rack of lamb. The service is courteous and efficient and the dishes are perfect for those with an appetite and a big budget.

Lin Heung Teahouse

This is one of the originals in Hong Kong. Just think spitoons and waiters running around with large kettles filled with boiling water. Of course, nowadays, people do not really spit in the spitoons but they are still there, which adds a nice sense of nostalgia to the restaurant.

Wing Lok Yuen Restaurant

Although it does not really serve Chinese food, this great restaurant been such an integral part of so many people's lives in Hong Kong that it is often regarded as one. Most famous for serving extra cheap hotdogs, it is usually packed during lunchtime but takeout is available.

Lao Ching Hing

For many years, this restaurant was the place to go to for authentic Shanghainese cuisine. Today, many still consider it the best there is. If you know your Shanghainese dishes, the extensive menu will look familiar and you should have no problems ordering. Otherwise, the staff is usually happy to help out.

Summer Palace

Not exactly Beijing's historic landmark but close enough, this hotel restaurant is a great place to impress your friends. The menu boasts a wide range of fresh seafood specialties and many popular Cantonese dishes. And, with stellar service from an efficient staff, you will not mind paying the hotel prices.

Hunnan Garden

For some people, finding this restaurant is enough to whip up an appetite. Once you get here, there is plenty to satisfy your hunger pangs. Some of the dishes can be quite hot, however, and, even though the prices are moderate, your bill can add up quickly if you are not careful with what you order.
