Do ask the manager for recommendations. Moreover, this joint has a terrace too, where you enjoy the open atmosphere while you relish your meal. Sattvik

Although Punjabi cuisine which is the most popular kind of food in New Delhi thrives on non-vegetarian preparations, there are a few establishments with a vegetarian menu that hold their own quite well. Sattvik, located in the popular Select Citywalk mall is one such place.The word Sattvik literally means pure and Sattvik food implies nutritious, vegetarian food that is light on the stomach. The menu here offers all possible varieties of Indian breads, gravies, dals and vegetable preparations. Although a few oily and heavy dishes do find place, most of the items will leave you feeling light even after a full meal. Those who can't do without dessert musty try the paan-flavoured ice cream to finish off.

The Navdanya Slow Food Cafe

Set up in 2004 by NGO Navdanya and Italian activist Carlos Petrini, the unusually named Slow Food Cafe is the antidote of Mc Donald's and the likes. The idea is to get people to sit back and enjoy an authentic Indian meal made from nutritious grains, pulses and exotic spices. The small restaurant allows you to view the ingredients which go into making your meal, while sipping on lemon or mint tea. The founders firmly believe that fast food is a passing phase and Indians will never completely give up their rich and varied culinary heritage. The Slow Food Cafe proves just that, considering the locals and students who flock here each day. Call for open hours.

Curry Leaf

Part of the Moet's chain, Curry Leaf is associated with some of the most savory Kashmiri cuisine in South Delhi. With careful marination of spices, the chef leaves no stone unturned to ensure that even the most demanding gourmet will be left gratified. The ambiance is as exotic as exotic can possibly get: rose petals strewn all over, wooden walls, quaint silver cutlery and a superb food presentation. Try out the Palak Paneer, which is India's most famous culinary combination of spinach and cottage cheese. Non vegetarians can indulge in crispy prawns marinated in yoghurt or minced chicken in saffron and brown onions.
