Tiger-Restaurant

Artistic and culinary finesse combine to make the Tiger Restaurant one of the best addresses in town. Martin Göschel and his team toil away in the kitchen of the dome-roofed restaurant, while visitors admire the fine contemporary art on the first floor. Dishes such as Glazed Fillet of Turbot on Potato and Truffle Mousse recently earned the restaurant a highly-prized Michelin star and 17 Gault Millau points. Johnny Klinke, former student protester and owner of the restaurant, has come to understand that the best revolutions are culinary rather than political.

Theater an der Uni

Frankfurt University's Department of Theater and Film Studies is situated next-door to the famous Senckenberg Museum in the district of Bockenheim. The department runs its own theater which features performances by professional groups as well as students. Prices are reasonable and the program provides the audience with some real gems. Works written by theater students comprise the greater part of the program, but English, German and French classics are also performed with great gusto.

Freies Schauspiel Ensemble

Popular, highly-acclaimed and fun to watch-that's the Freies Schauspiel Ensemble. The resident theatre group performs at one of the finest venues in Frankfurt, it performs several times a year. Under the guidance of director Reinhard Hinzpeter and leading lady Dagmar Casse, the ensemble has become a cultural institution in Frankfurt, performing a variety of works, from classic plays to chansons and fairytales. Galli Event Theater

Named after the well-known playwright, director and actor Johannes Galli, the Galli-Theatre is known for its versatility: as well as producing award-winning plays like Cain and Able, it also organises events such as motivation training, inter-cultural workshops and acting classes. The motivation seminars are particularly popular with high-flying business people looking to give their career a further boost.

IVI Institute for Comparative Irrelevance

Institute for Comparative Irrelevance or (IVI) is pretty much a spot where local or campus bands drop by to perform. The event venue is also ideal for organizing theatrical performances, musical concerts and a host of other cultural events. With amazing sound and lighting, it is indeed an ideal place to host musical and other programs. Check website for more details.

Alte Oper

The Old Opera House still looks as magnificent and imposing as it did when it was opened by Kaiser Wilhelm I in 1880. The building was financed by wealthy Frankfurt citizens and was designed in Italian Renaissance style by Richard Lucae. Destroyed in a 1944 air raid, it was rebuilt later and renamed the 'Old Opera Concert and Conference Center'. The main auditorium, the Grosser Saal with seating for about 2,450 people, is the central part of the building and is used for concerts and musical extravaganzas. Smaller rooms can be hired for functions, conferences, corporate events, receptions, product launches and so on. Visitors can obtain refreshments in the café, the restaurant or the bistro.
