Trois Maillets

This piano and cabaret bar is situated in the Paris' lively 5th arrondissement. Trois Maillets is situated in an ancient stone building - so old that some of its patrons are rumored to include those who built the Notre Dame cathedral. It is an exciting and popular spot for nightlife, with shows ranging from tap dancers and singers to jazz, Brazilian and soul concerts. It has a capacity for 80 people.

Le Caveau du Palais

Le Caveau du Palais is located on 17th-century courtyard, overlooking the Place Dauphine. You can sit outside the restaurant and enjoy the warm sun, or a quiet conversation accompanied by some good food, or just sit inside and enjoy the rustic atmosphere created because of the original stones and beams that are visible. The kitchen dishes-out traditional French fare with risotto, meat, sweetbread and honey. The house specialty is meat grilled over wood and roast beef. Its clientèle is mostly lawyers during the afternoon from the Palais de Justice.

Fifth Bar

Paris is not at a loss for Irish pubs, but very few have the feel of a pub back in Eire. Fifth Bar mixes good old-fashioned craic with the atmosphere of a real American bar, screening both soccer and American football (soccer), and serving pints of Guinness while throwing American-themed nights. Tuesdays and Thursdays are student nights, so bring student I.D. for even more discounts. Here, you can sink your teeth into cheese laden traditional Italian fare! The delicious pizzas and pastas are an inseparable part of the menu and for those with a sweet tooth, there is an array of delicious pastries to go with your coffee. The cafe also serves a magnificent breakfast that is fit for a king. Hot drinks, orange juice, bread, yogurt and fruit are included in this breakfast.

Breakfast in America

This is an amazingly well-kept secret in Paris. With just a handful of tables, Breakfast in America recreates the American breakfast diner experience as well it should - it was established by a bona fide American ex-pat in 2003. Complete with American coffee, O.J., pancakes with real maple syrup, and to-die-for eggs, the breakfast and brunch menus are the better known offerings, but be sure to check out their burgers in the afternoon.

Le Vin Qui Chante

Other than Eiffel tower, what attracts hoards of tourists to France is wines. At the Le Vin Qui Chante apart from savoring authentic French cuisine, you get to drink, one of the choicest of wines produced in the finest of vineyards. Nothing but the best is served here and you have nearly hundreds of wines to choose from. To go with the drinks, it also serves local dishes prepared with fresh produce and herbs. For starters, try the Salade d'écrevisses à l'huile d'olive et au citron or Ravioles du Royans au basilic served with thick cream. Gorge on the Entrecôte grillée, sauce Choron served with sauteed apples and don't forget to order delectable desserts. Good service, classy decor and a glass of wine complete the picture perfect.

Le Petit Pontoise

Le Petit Pontoise Bis is a tiny restaurant which earns its popularity with the great international menu it offers. You can enjoy the traditional French cuisine in a friendly atmosphere with an extensive menu list to choose from. The restaurant is always busy with frequent clientèle from the neighborhood, so reservations are strongly recommended. The fresh chicken cooked in wine and mushrooms, duckling with foie gras are some of best served dishes. You can also take delight in the stew of pigs' cheeks and fresh vegetables, served in an iron casserole made using fine ingredients and traditional techniques to render your dining experience a memorable one. The restaurant is given an elegant look using a very simple decor.

Restaurant Paul

Restaurant Paul is located near Pont Neuf, which is the oldest bridge, as it was built in 1607. Run by a young chef, the food is basically French Bistro, moderately priced and is served in an antique room. The restaurant is famous for its pastries and hot oven fresh bread. Two regular patrons of this restaurant are French actors Yves Montand and Simone Signoret, who live just above it. You can sit indoors or outdoors on the terrace and watch the Pont Neuf while having a delicious meal of salmon in Dutch sauce, sweet and salty fruit cuts, sorbets, duck or ox meat.

Salsa Rumba Restaurant Latino

This 5th arrondissement restaurant is well known for serving up Latin American specialties with a side order of salsa beats to get you on your feet. Salsa Rumba Restaurant Latino is bursting with festive shades of green and yellow and has a warm and welcoming ambience that mirrors spicy south American specialties such as tamales, empanadas, and ceviche. The restaurant has 40 tables.

Petit Journal Saint Michel

Imagine tucking into a typical French dinner, while a full scale jazz band shows off its stuff, close to your table. Petit Journal Saint Michel and its sister branch Petit Journal Montparnasse have been offering its guests just that for the past several decades. Established in 1973, Petit Journal has become a popular venue for live performances by international jazz icons and jazz bands, both traditional and contemporary, especially New Orleans jazz. A dining with concert package is very reasonably priced, given Parisian standards. An evening at the Petit Journal Saint Michel is highly recommended for the sheer experience, even for those who are not great fans of jazz.

Ambiance de l'Inde

Located in the historical rue Mouffetard in Paris 5th arrondissement, this Indian restaurant offers the finest fares from north India. Dishes range from chicken tandoori, lamb korma, chicken curry to several vegetarian dishes among other things. Guests are also treated to nice surroundings with walls dating back from the 12th Century, best known as La muraille de Philippe Auguste.

Les Papilles
