At Ottoman's you can sample home cooking Turkish-style in exotic Middle Eastern surrounds.You can choose to eat at their attractive street front restaurant, or head upstairs to recline on soft cushions surrounded by fabulous wall hangings. The food is plentiful and varied, lots of vegetables, pulses and kebabs served with the wonderful chewy pide bread. Be sure to try the ice cream. Turkish ice cream is like no other, extra smooth but with an almost chewy texture: quite delicious!

Gaucho's Argentinian Restaurant

Mainly for carnivores, dishes are prepared on a charcoal grill and feature larger-than-life size servings. Timber furnishings give a rustic atmosphere for would-be cowboys. Imagine you are ready to saddle-up and head out to the endless plains of Argentina! Parrillada Mixta Pampera, a traditional Argentine mixed grill, has to be seen to be believed. Meats are marinated in the spicy Chimichurri sauce, adding a wonderful flavour to the tender offerings. Gaucho's also serves excellent seafood for those with a taste for ocean fare. A robust wine list accents the hearty flavors of the food.

Nanyeta's Gypsy Taverne

Visit Nanyeta's for traditional, Middle European gypsy food and entertainment. This rustic-style, banquet restaurant offers music, song and dance and lively entertainment provided by flame twirlers, belly dancers and contortionists! While you dine, have your fortune told by a mysterious gypsy. Share the lavish platters with some friends and enjoy a banquet of gypsy delicacies from around the world, accompanied by a glass of spicy sangria. Group bookings are encouraged, or private functions can be arranged. Nanyeta's does not offer a la carte dining.

Quiet Waters

One of Adelaide's oldest and best Lebanese restaurants, Quiet Waters still provides the benchmark in this part of town. The dim lights and casual atmosphere give a 70's feel, and the prices certainly offer 70's value! All the traditional favorites feature on the menu: baba ganoush, hummus, falafel, kofta and baklava plus, of course, wonderful coffee. You can choose a vegetarian banquet or a special Lebanese banquet featuring some delicious lamb dishes.

The Original Pancake Kitchen

Dine here for the best pancakes in Adelaide. Open for more than 35 years, this popular spot has lots of cozy corners for couples or crowds. Timbered benches and tables, lots of magazines and bustling staff seem to be the winning recipe. The Pancake House offers an amazing range of pancakes, from the traditional stack, with whipped butter and maple syrup, to the more exotic, such as Tabriz-a thin crepe stuffed with a tasty mix of ground beef, red wine and herbs. On Tuesday nights, try the "all-you-can-eat" option, if you are game!

Pescatore Seafood and Wine Bar

This restaurant offers a Mediterranean sea-breeze right in the heart of the city. In the business center of town, diners in this bright modern restaurant can linger over a plate of antipasto followed by a selection of fine seafood or simply enjoy a quick pasta lunch. There is a large selection of wines to accompany your meal and to tempt the connoisseur. Try the Grigliata Di Pesce for a mixed selection of grilled ocean foods.

The Oyster Bar

South Australian farmers harvest magnificent Pacific Oysters in the clean, fresh waters off the state's west coast. For over 17 years Café Michael has been offering authentic Thai food to Adelaide diners. The modern furnishings give a casual and relaxed air to this busy little spot in the East End. One house special is marinated boneless chicken wrapped in a Pandanus leaf, or perhaps you would prefer a whole fish with red curry sauce? Beijing Restaurant

Beijing Restaurant is an authentic, family-run Chinese joint specializing in northern Chinese and Schezwan cuisine. Set in a quieter part of town, the unobtrusive decor is highlighted by some very stylish modern artwork. Being northern styled, the accent is more on noodles as accompaniment rather than rice. The menu also features lots of seafood. For some slightly spicier flavors, try the Schezwan dishes, which are usually a bit more robust. Peking Duck is a house special. Vegetarian options are also available.

Matsuri Japanese Restaurant

For your meal, choose from a seat at the Sushi bar, or the Western dining room or remove those shoes for Japanese-style dining. The staff at Matsuri Japanese Restaurant are proud of their traditional hospitality and cuisine, and do their utmost to maintain the highest standards. Sumo Station is Adelaide's first sushi bar to present the dishes on a conveyor belt. This bright contemporary restaurant specializes in sushi, so the place to sit is right in front of that tempting conveyor! If you would prefer to take your time and sample something from the modern Japanese menu, then select a comfortable seat at one of the stylish tables. Bangkok Thai Restaurant

Adelaide's original Thai restaurant, the Bangkok, is credited with being single-handedly responsible for the growth in popularity of Thai cooking in Adelaide. The menu includes traditional Thai cuisine: arguably still the best Thai food in town, with an accent on fresh herbs and fragrant spices. You can always rely on some very fine curries, as hot as you can take it or as mild as you like.
