This two-star hotel is located outside the city centre, near a hot bath and swimming pool complex. It offers excellent service and accommodation at a reasonable price. Like the other Gerand hotels, it was once a worker's hostel during the Communist regime. This chain have done a commendable job of renovating what used to be rather dreary places. There are easy public transport connections to the centre, while the immediate area offers some interesting walks, providing some insight into the daily lives of many of the city's citizens.

This two-star hotel is located near Szentendre Island on the edge of Budapest. As its name suggests, the hotel is surrounded by a range of sporting facilities, including a running track and a sports field. Access to the city centre from this hotel is simplified by the HEV train, on which it is a ten-minute journey.

Duna-Party Panzio

This family-run guesthouse is located near Szentendrei Island (not to be confused with the town outside Budapest of the same name). In order to get to the city centre, you would have to take the number 34 bus and then change to the Metro. The guesthouse is small and is located in a quiet, green area.

Dunapart Hotel

If you're looking for a unique Budapest hotel experience, then you won't go wrong with the Dunapart. It is in fact a permanently moored boat on the River Danube, almost directly across from the parliament buildings. The rooms are the actual ship's cabins, with the same style of beds and the same rather confined space. It is definitely worth a look. The boat is within an easy walk of many sights and of course the Danube is right outside the window.
