The Cliffe Hotel

For those wishing to visit the city of Bath but not wishing to stay in it, the village of Limpley Stoke and the Cliffe Hotel will probably suit you. Nestled in its own wooded grounds above the Avon Valley, you can certainly be assured of a room with a view. The peace and quiet of village life is such that it is impossible to believe that the city itself is just under five miles away. Pets are welcome by arrangement and The Cliffe extends a warm welcome to disabled visitors and their companions. There is a drinks license for those who truly wish to unwind after all that sightseeing and evening meals are available. Please enquire regarding rates for short breaks.

The Old Priory

The name describes it exactly! Built in the 12th century as a priory, this lovely old house is centrally but quietly situated in the market town of Midsomer Norton and is truly a record of times long past. Flagstone floors and ancient oak beams abound, yet all rooms have modern appointments. Unusually for smaller establishments, evening meals of a very high standard are provided. This is another of those places that is ideal for touring more of the West Country than just Bath. Wells, with its magnificent cathedral is not far away. Cheddar with its gorge and historic Longleat House, home of Lord Bath, is open to the public and includes a groundbreaking safari park.

Old Manor House

Built in the 15th century, this old building has the look of a Tudor manor house even though it is now surrounded by Doomsday-mentioned Keynsham (although it was not spelt that way in those days). This is the sort of place in which four-poster beds belong. So too do inglenook fireplaces with roaring log fires, a cosy bar and feasting of a high enough quality to please a king. Despite having all the ambience and atmosphere befitting its age, The Old Manor House also offers the very best of facilities, antique furniture, modern amenities. Rates for special breaks are available on request. Closed on Boxing Day, Easter Monday and New Years Day (after guests have checked out).

Valley Farm

Stanton Drew was ancient in the days when London was new. The village itself is famous for its standing stones, sometimes referred to as Druid Stones. Actually they're a lot older than Druidic times although no one has really proved who the people were who put them there. Valley Farm is much newer than this, being a modern farmhouse built with all amenities. All bedrooms have en suite bathrooms and are suitable for those with mobility problems. Surrounded by rolling countryside, Valley Farm offers the peace and quiet of the country after the noise and bustle of the city, and makes an ideal base for visitors interested in visiting either Bristol or Bath.

Irondale House

Although only having two letting rooms, this splendid eighteenth century house is well worth staying in just for the joy of inspecting its ornate drawing room ceiling. Tastefully furnished and set in attractive countryside, this property is ideal for those who wish to take in some of the surrounding area besides visiting Bath alone - although the latter is only a few miles drive away. The rooms have king-size beds and an added feature of the en suite family room is the fact that it has direct access to a walled garden right outside the door. Golf can be arranged at a choice of three different courses for those who tire of sightseeing.

The Plaines

The Plaines has low ceilings and large fireplaces. You can almost imagine its Puritan or Cavalier owner in times long past. Rooms are excellently appointed, all are en suite with tea and coffee making facilities. There are ground floor facilities for the disabled or those with mobility problems. Although this is only a bed and breakfast establishment, it has the good fortune to have two excellent eating facilities within walking distance and is, in fact, right opposite the famous George Inn with its black and white timbering and overhanging floors. Discounts are offered on stays exceeding three nights. These do not necessarily include weekends. Please note that this place is closed over the Christmas period.

Pixtons Green

Built some time in the seventeenth century, this rambling, former farmhouse is quite a unique and attractive building. It is also situated in six acres of glorious garden and is only 5 miles from Bath. Ideal for touring the wider area and visiting such sites as Stonehenge, Bradford on Avon and Lacock, Pixtons Green is small enough to offer a warm and friendly welcome. A good night's sleep is assured in these peaceful surroundings. A baby listening service is available and vegetarians are catered for at breakfast.

Cairngorm Guest House

Quietly situated, Cairngorm is a non-smoking establishment situated in a hamlet just off the main A4 into Bath. Surrounded by lovely gardens and peaceful countryside, this establishment offers en-suite rooms at affordable prices and provides special diets for those who need them. The city centre is two miles away and it is possible to leave the car and take the bus into the city. Ground floor bedrooms are available, a definite must for the disabled and those who can't manage the stairs. All rooms have tea and coffee making facilities plus child-minding alarms. Please enquire regarding mid-week or off season breaks.
