Museo Nacional Del Prado

The Prado museum offers some the most famous painting in the world. As a world traveler, touring this museum is a “must “along with the other famous museums in Europe.

Visit anytime during the year. My visit was in the winter, which offered smaller crowds than other seasons. Of course everything cannot be seen during one trip; absorb as much as you can and keep notes for your return.

Museo Thyssen - Bornemisza

Offering a different viewpoint than the Prado Museum is the Thyssen Museum. The Thyssen is located walking distance from the Prado Museum.

Offering primarily Modern and Contemporary designs, the Thyssen is a popular attraction for visitors to Madrid. As with most museums, do not attempt to capture every painting in one day; rather spread out the visit over two days to allow sufficient time touring.

Plaza Mayor

One of the most recognizable attractions in Madrid is the Plaza Mayor. Reachable by public transportation from virtually all points in Madrid, the Plaza Mayor is usually the first attraction visitors head to while in Spain.

Fundacion Real Fabrica De Tapices

World famous for tapestries, Spain offers some the most spectacular tapestries found in where in the world. While in Madrid, tour the Royal Tapestry Factory. Here you can see the age old tradition of tapestry making and purchase some pieces to take home with you.

Cafeteria Dining While in Madrid

Dining in Madrid is unique. Offered is everything from traditional Spanish food served “cafeteria style” to exotic bistro style food. Cafeteria style dinning offers an excellent way to try different dishes while visiting Madrid. This style also offers a great way to stay on schedule while visiting museums and other attractions during the day.
