Doc Maynard's Public House

This long-established Pioneer Square nightspot attracts a young, mostly collegiate crowd to its bill of blues, rock, pop and jazz artists. Located in a venerable Seattle building, Doc Maynard's Public House features music that's often great. You'll taste the riffs in your beer. It's loud and hectic, so it's hard to chat, but no one seems to mind. During the day, the Seattle Underground Tour leaves from here. Full bar service is available.

The Central Saloon

Located in Pioneer Square, this is one of the oldest pubs in Seattle. The narrow bar stretches to the back, where tables and chairs face a small stage. Jazz, reggae, rock or blues plays here almost nightly, making this a great place to catch live music. The saloon offers a menu of decent fish, pork and chicken dishes, and the full bar has a wide selection of microbrews on tap. The Central participates in the Pioneer Square joint cover.

Owl 'N' Thistle

Owl 'N' Thistle is a casual little Irish pub tucked away on narrow Post Avenue, on the fringe of Pioneer Square, clearly encourages its slightly clandestine atmosphere. It serves pub fare consisting of burgers and such, with nothing too Irish except the Guinness beef stew. The good beer selection includes Guinness, properly hand-pumped. On any given night, one is likely to hear live Celtic music or a poetry reading. There is also a game room located just off the main bar with pool and darts.

Contour

Not many nightclubs double as elegant lunch spots, but this tiny, art-filled place does. Space-age tubular lighting, glitzy statues and large-scale paintings are not your typical nightclub decor. Large windows along the front allow for open-air seating on hot summer nights, and for a refreshingly cool dance floor. Weekday lunch specials are a great bargain, and the Happy Hour from 4p-7p features spicy snacks and cheap well drinks. Nightly live music ranges from reggae to funk to industrial.

Cafe Vega

Among Seattle's million coffee shops, Cafe Vega remains the favorite neighborhood cafe in Central Seattle. Get your daily fix of caffeine in this friendly cafe. There's free wi-fi access for those who want to mix coffee and work. The cafe offers sandwiches and cookies on the menu as well. Local talent is displayed here frequently—music bands often play live music and amateur painters display art! This place can very well be your second home.

Tiki Bob's Cantina

Tiki Bob's is a happening nightclub on Pioneer Square. With lively music and a young crowd it is a must for all party animals. They specialize in throwing bachelor parties. Weekday happy hours are from 4p to 6p. The club has a large dance floor, televisions and a pool table. The wild bartenders keep you in a partying mood late into the night. Tiki Bob's has a good singles scene, so it's a good place to hookup!

Showbox SoDo

Showbox SoDo, the latest addition to the Showbox family, along side The Showbox at the Market, is famous for holding concerts for all ages unless specified otherwise. Live music is played all year round in this 1,700 seat bar. The venue is available on rent for holding private parties or birthday bashes as well. This is big, yet a personal place to catch your favorite bands performing live in front of you. To make the most of your night-out, head to Showbox SoDo on a Friday or a Saturday.

Rupert's Grill & Ale House

Rupert's at Pioneer Square serves some delicious Southwestern cuisine and has a decent variety of micro brews on tap. The spot plays a range of music, including R&B, jazz, funk, disco and new bands. And the Friday night is host to some foot-tapping disco music. The upscale restaurant and bar will delight you with its charming and amiable service, and makes dining here a memorable experience.

Aristocrat's Nightclub

This Pioneer Square club has recently revamped its programming to attract a younger crowd. In the past, the venue hosted swing dance nights and karaoke but it now features an excellent line-up of electronic music. Thursday nights are now dedicated to dance hall reggae and jungle music, Fridays are old school hip-hop nights, Saturdays feature drum and bass. The club has two floors with plenty of seating but you'll want to join the crowd on the dance floor. A full bar is available.

Last Supper Club

On weekends, the hippest of the Seattle crowd, dolled up in their Saturday-night best and tightest, dance at this Pioneer Square nightclub called the Last Supper Club. The music pumps on two floors. DJs run the show on weekends, and various bands entertain weeknights. Each month the walls of this club are decorated with different amateur paintings. Red velvet chairs lend a lounge elegance. Order upscale grill food, plus Thai and Italian dishes as you fuel up yourself for the night ahead.

Lulu's

Pioneer Square is known more for boisterous action than quiet romanticism, but this restaurant has won great acclaim as an intimate place to bring a date. As the pianist takes to the ivories, order a bottle of wine and hold hands with your sweetie under the table. The menu features Mediterranean cuisine. Start off your meal with bruschetta spread with kalamata olives, or try the succulent calamari. The pastas, salads, and meat courses are all bursting with robust flavors. End on a sweet note by sharing a dessert with your date for which the chocolate mousse is a winner. On weekends after dinner, the place turns into a nightclub.

The New Orleans Creole Restaurant

Does your heart beat to the rhythm of jazz and blues? Whether it is a casual lunch or a friendly dinner, pop into this old Seattle favorite to have a relaxing time. Affordable and convenient, New Orleans serves a large array of specialties from back home along with exotic cocktails. Seafood, steaks and the signature chicory coffee is a favorite with regulars. For music lovers, this place truly rocks.
