Skukuza

Situated on the southern banks of the Sabie river Skukuza is the largest restcamp and administrative headquarters of the Kruger National Park. This is also the most popular camp in the park. Skukuza has over 80 camping sites, 178 chalets, 20 luxury bungalows, 15 guest cottages, 20 Safari tents and a few fully furnished guest houses. Even though there is so much accommodation available the camp is usually fully booked for months in advance and so early booking is essential to avoid disappointment. Skukuza also has an domestic airport with regular flights to O.R.Thambo International in Johannesburg, making it the easiest camp to reach from the outside world. The camp has all the amenities needed for a great time in Kruger. There are great 2 restaurants, a curio shop, fuel, a post office, photo development outlet and even an Internet Café. This is what I would call a city inside this national park and is a must see.

Satara

Satara situated in an excellent game viewing area of the Kruger Park, is very popular restcamp and it is just for that reason. The vegetation in the area is quite open making it easy to spot and view wildlife. The camp has over 100 camping sites, 152 Bungalows and a few fully furnished guest houses. There is also a great restaurant, curio shop and fuel is easily available.

Olifants Camp

The Olifants Camp in the Kruger National Park is situated on a hill which towers several hundred feet over the Olifants river. The camp has about 107 Bungalows, a few luxury guest houses but no camping facilities. Walking around the camp at night isn't such a great idea and if you do it, be sure to do it with a torch. You are sharing this space with wild animals and most of them are extremely dangerous. This area is also a malaria area, so be sure to take your malaria medication well in advance. The camp has all the needed amenities to services, including but not limited to Restaurant, curio shop, fuel and laundromat. Early booking is essential to avoid disappointment.

Letaba camp

The Letaba restcamp is situated on the banks of the Letaba river. Letaba means “river of sand”, the sandy riverbed makes for excellent game viewing. The camp a restaurant, curio shop, most other needed amenities and has 80 camping sites, 86 bungalows, 10 Guest Cottages and other luxury guest houses. This area is a Malaria Zone so be sure to take precationary medication well in advance. Also remember that ALL the animals in Kruger are wild even if spotted in the rest camps, do not walk up to any game, even some of the buck species have been known to kill if they felt threatened, so be careful and enjoy your stay.

Pretoriuskop Restcamp

The Pretoriuskop restcamp is one of the oldest camps in the Kruger National Park in South Africa. It is the only camps in the park that officially contains exotic non indigenous flowering plants, the reason for this is that these plants were planted her long before the decision to make exclusive use of indigenous when laying out camps in Kruger. The camp is fully rigged out with restaurant, curio shop, fuel and other amenities needed for life in the Africa bush. Pretoriuskop has 45 camping sites, 75 Huts, 52 Bungalows and a few other luxury unite. Early booking is required and malaria medication should be taken before visiting the Kruger Park.

Lower Sabie Restcamp

The Lower Sabie restcamp is situated on the banks of the Sabie river in the Kruger National Park. The camp has all amenities for daily life in Kruger and has 33 Camp sites, 24 Safari Tents, 60 Bungalows and a few luxury upmarket guest houses. Malaria medication should be taken long in advance when visiting Kruger and if walking around the camp at night the use of a torch is a good idea. All wild animals in Kruger are dangerous even if spotted inside a restcamp.

Shingwedzi

Shingwedzi is a rustic camp situated in the northern part of the Kruger National Park of South Africa. Road tripping from the camp in a south-easterly direction towards the Kanniedood (Direct English translation "Cannot Die") Dam is probably the most rewarding game drive in the entire park. The camp has all amenities to support comfortable living in Kruger including a great restaurant and curio shop. Even though there is ample (50) camping facilities and (66) Bungalows, early booking is always essential. This is also a malaria area so remember to take medication to prevent getting it. The most important thing to remember is that the animals of Kruger are wild even if you spot them in the restcamps.

Punda Maria Restcamp

Punda Maria is situated high up in the north of the Kruger National Park near the Punda Maria Gate and the Mozambique border. The area is often called the botanical garden of Kruger because of the numerous unique plant species that grow in this area. The most likely animals to see in this area are impala, zebra, buffalo, elephant, eland and sable. Brid life is also wonderful in this part of the park for bird lovers. The camp has impale accommodation facilities, 50 camp sites, 22 bungalows, 7 safari tents and 2 Family Bungalow. This camp has all the amenities to make life comfortable in Kruger, including, restaurant, curio shop, fuel station and others. I must emphasize the point that malaria tablets are a must.

Berg en Dal

Berg en Dal is situated on the banks of the Matjulu Spruit, in the famous Kruger National Park of South Africa. The camp has everything you need for comfortable Kruger living, including a fine restaurant and curio shop. Fuel is also available here and the camp has plenty of accommodation. 72 tent sites, 69 bungalows, 23 family cottages and other luxury accommodation. It is also one of the few camps with a Internet Cafe. Drinking malaria tablets in this area is wise.

Tamboti Tented Camp

The Tamboti camp located on the banks of the Timbavati River, is one of the smallest yet most popular camps in the Kruger National park, South Africa. Tamboti is popular amongst bird lovers because of the great a bird hide located in the camp. The camp offers 15 budget safari tents and 10 Semi-luxury Safari Tents. Managed by the Orpen rest camp this satellite camp, has no shop, fuel or restaurant. This is a great camp for honeymoon couples. The best thing about this camp is sitting around the communal camp fire in the evenings exchanging stories of sightings from the day.
