Warren Tavern Restaurant

Dating back to 1780, this restaurant and bar is located near the Freedom Trail, has plenty of history of its own. It was opened by Captain Eliphelet Newell who it is said took part is in the Boston Tea Party. Famous visitors included Paul Revere and George Washington. Today, it has lace-curtain windows and low, wood-beamed ceilings that create an intimate feel. Try the Tavern Special—chicken breast and shrimp sautéed with sundried tomatoes, mushrooms, broccoli florets, prosciutto ham and provolone cheese in a garlic white wine sauce.

Sorelle Bakery & Cafe

This Charlestown neighborhood bakery and cafe serves good coffee and tasty treats. You will find fresh-baked muffins, scones, croissants and pecan sticky buns here. For a fast lunch, the noon menu includes roughly two dozen different sandwiches and salad plates, including daily specials. This establishment also serves desserts. This small and sunny cafe has a cozy atmosphere. A friendly staff and loyal patrons keeps the place buzzing with conversation. During warm weather, a patio area provides extra seating. Does not accept credit cards; accepts cash only.

Tavern on the Water

Water, water everywhere, and there is plenty to drink at this seaside pub. Located on the old site of the Charlestown Navy Yard, it has unbeatable views of the harbor and the city skyline. This restaurant is particularly popular with singles when the patio opens. The menu contains nearly two dozen soup and appetizer selections. The entree choices includes baked scallops, grilled sirloin tips, lobster ravioli and jumbalaya.

Flamepoeira

The colors of Flamepoeira are about as eclectic and decorative as the name. The owner, Langelo, created a coffeehouse filled with art from corner to corner, thus turning the dining area into art. Along the lightly colored orange walls, above tables, where guests can enjoy tables of two or plush seating, Langelo displays his paintings. They also offer a selection of couches, where guests can ease into the experience Flamepoeira attempts to create. This coffeehouse sets itself apart from the norm of other North End Coffeehouses with the warm colors and cool drinks served in plastic margarita cups, which make Flamepoeira feel like an island getaway.

Ruby Room

Indulge yourself in the sinful luxuries of Ruby Room at Onyx Hotel, which captivates you with its engrossing ambiance and lounge-like feel. The exquisite chandeliers, the beautiful furnishings and the dim lighting of the bar gives the place a cozy feel. The bar and restaurant offers a great variety of wines and the menu includes a little of everything. With a premium selection of vodkas and martinis to choose from, the specialty cocktails are something to watch out for. Ruby Room also provides excellent facilities for hosting private parties, gatherings and corporate events. The Ruby Room opens daily at 4 pm.

Nilo

This Italian restaurant is in a renovated stone warehouse that was once a part of the old Charlestown Navy Yard. If you are visiting the U.S.S. Constitution or walking along the Charlestown section of the historic Freedom Trail, consider a visit to this establishment for some fine dining. The menu contains about two dozen items, including many pasta selections and various types of pizza. The restaurant serves beer and wine.

Neptune Oyster

Neptune was God of the Seas, but the Neptune Oyster however isn't as vast as the waters he ruled over. This is a small pearl that can seat about two dozen people in simple and neat surroundings. Apart from oysters and clams, you'll get a variety of other seafood and if you're in to it, you can try some smoked and raw salmon. You can also savour some Italian seafood like mussels fra diavlo and shellfish stew with saffron rice.

Giacomo's

The service at Giacomo's is speedy and the food is moderately priced - that's two reasons why people throng to this place throughout the week. Also, the Italian food will have you drooling - the pastas are fresh and cooked to perfection. You can start your meal with a caprese salad and move on to the chicken parmigiana, shrimp scampi, grilled tuna or swordfish steak. This place is always crowded and no reservations are made in advance, so be there early. Also, credit cards are not accepted. One word of advice: don't order everything at once. Take your time and enjoy the meal.
