Pizzeria

Although relatively young for the honor, Pizzeria is almost like an old Mumbai institution, with an air of a place that has been around. The restaurant also serves beer, making it an ideal place for a lazy weekend lunch or a relaxed casual night-out meal. The view from this pizza place is another selling point. For a city filled with chaotic streets and busy bylanes, Pizzeria is located on Marine Drive and overlooks the beautiful Arabian Sea. The restaurant doesn't have its own washroom though, and shares facilities with its cheek-by-jowl sister concern Not Just Jazz By The Bay, a Mumbai landmark in its own right.

Lido Bar

It's like you are in a time warp. A little impersonal, a little bit too comfortable. It's like a place where everybody knows your name. Lido has a loyal clientele, but it attracts an eclectic tourist crowd as well. It is ideal for a tete-a-tete over a Martini in the afternoon or some Scotch and Soda in the evenings. The service and the delicious Italian fare adds to the reason why the Lido is frequented by the cream of society.

Dome

This swish white open-air cocktail lounge on the rooftop of the InterContinental offers stunning views of the Mumbai coastline and the Marine Drive promenade. Sink into a plush couch and enjoy the cool breeze as you sip your drink. The bar serves a selection of cigars and wines from across the globe. A variety of eats, from bite size snacks and kebab platters to international grills and sushi, are also on offer. On certain nights of the week, the Dome becomes the venue for live acts. Surely a great place to laze about or have an intimate meal.

Not Just Jazz By The Bay

Not Just Jazz By The Bay has long been the cult leader in promoting live music acts in the city, decades before the Hard Rock Cafe, Blue Frog and Zenzi sunk roots. The loyal clientèle comes in not only for the salad, soup and pasta lunch but also for the jam-packed musical nights. A place just feels right when the mug of Armstrong greets you at the washroom, simply declaring 'Lou'. It's a decidedly jazz theme, no doubt, but Not Just Jazz regularly showcases live artists spanning all genres, from Classic Rock to Pop. Sundays thru Tuesdays are usually Karaoke nights, for those keen on belting out a few.

Pearl of the Orient

If not for its consistently good South-east Asian cuisine, then visit to experience the uniqueness of this restaurant. Perched on a rotating platform that takes 90 minutes to complete a circle, The Pearl is one of a kind in the city. Serving multiple menus such as Chinese,Thai and Korean, the food of this restaurant is as well known as the view from this place. Patrons get to view one of the most beautiful areas of the city, the Marine Drive, while dining at the Pearl of the Orient.

The Lido Room

Although it's more like an old men's club than a eating place, The Lido Room still dishes out some good Continental fare. You want Indian instead? No problem for the quality may be dubious but it can still be ordered from the restaurant next door. Take some advice and stick to what's on the menu of this restaurant. Walk in with a pack of friends and spend a marvelous time together. Call for further details.

Croissants - The Cake Shop

Situated right next to the busy Churchgate metro station, this popular and inexpensive fast food joint serves more than croissants. Always ready with fresh snacks, sandwiches, pastas and roll, Croissants etc also is very popular for its fresh cakes and pastries. Croissants has several branches all over the city.

Samrat

This is one of the few restaurants in Mumbai that has had a steady list of regulars for over decades. Well-known for its 'Gujarati Thali', which comes for a very nominal price, this restaurant also serves Punjabi delicacies, which are quite good. One of the best things about the place is that you can reach here after the normal lunch hours and still find steaming food ready before you in no time. You can either dine in the main dining area with murals of Indian festivals and mythology adorning the walls, or in the mezzanine floor above. Above all, Samrat is a place where you can be assured of enjoying a full, wholesome meal at a very affordable price!

Chopsticks

If you're craving for authentic and wholesome Chinese food then Chopsticks is the place to go. With a host of Chinese delights like Spring Rolls and Steamed Wantons for starters, main courses made of fresh tofu, broccoli and delectable desserts such as Honey Noodles with Vanilla Ice-Cream, you couldn't ask for more. The main dining room is spacious enough to accommodate the crowd that pours in, especially during dinner hours, while the mezzanine area makes for an intimate little space to enjoy a leisurely meal. If you're stuffed to the point of discomfort (a common feature after a meal at Chopsticks), you can step out and take a stroll on the Marine Drive promenade or chew on some betel leaf from the little shop outside!

Kebab Korner

Located on the first floor of the InterContinental Marine Drive, Kebab Korner is one of the best Kebab destination in Mumbai. The decor and ambiance is casual whereas the cuisine is mainly North Indian. The Kebabs are cooked in the traditional way with a contemporary dash and served with 'chutney', a delicious paste of herbs and spices. The restaurant also serves delicious vegetarian delicacies which are equally good. So if one truly wants to enjoy succulent and tasty kebabs, this is where one must head.

Oriental Blossom

If you're looking for a mélange of fine dining and authentic Chinese cuisine, then this elegant restaurant on the first level of swanky Marine Plaza Hotel is the ideal venue for you. If you're lucky enough to get a place by the window, the view of the Marine Drive and the sea beyond is pleasing to the eyes. But what pleases you even more is the Cantonese style cooking. A special feature is the Jasmine Tea that is complimentary along with the Korean cabbage salad called Khimchi. The main dishes are made with subtle spices and fresh ingredients. If you're willing to shell out a little more than the usual, the experience at Oriental Blossom is certainly not run of the mill!

Gaylord Restaurant

Gaylord is one of the oldest restaurants in the town area of Mumbai. Located just opposite The Ambassador hotel, it serves both continental and Indian cuisine. Their Continental food has got a great English influence with an Indian touch. The restaurant is broadly divided into two sections, the inner part and the sheltered exterior part outside. The outer part is lined with plants and creepers and therefore it makes a cozy coffee haunt. They also have a bakery that is a part of the restaurant. When you visit this place, it is wise to pick a loaf of oven fresh bread. They have a huge variety of them. The bakery also sells some great cakes and desserts as well which are worth a try!
