Amirah's Grill Restaurant & Cafe

Exotic hand-made Egyptian carpets featuring camels and deserts are hung creatively and artificial vines grace the elegant columns. The menu presents an eclectic mix of Arabic, Middle-Eastern, Italian, French, Mexican and Western influences. Served to the brim with generous slices of mushrooms, the mushroom soup is delicious to the last drop! Savor the Amirah Kebab; an ensemble of marinated chicken, lamb cubes grilled on a skewer and aromatic Arabic rice. Do try the Kebab Bahri; featuring grilled prawns, cuttlefish, mussels and sea bass. Alcoholic beverages are not served here.

Chilli Padi Nonya Restaurant

Peranakan food is essentially a blend of ingredients borrowed from Chinese and Malay dishes, and this fusion is said to be the best of all Singapore cuisines. Dishes like Beef Rendang, Udang Sambal (chilli prawns) or Curry Chicken are cheap and tasty. Alcoholic beverages are not served. Study the nostalgic pictures of the Peranakans as traditional music entertains. However, with the mild air conditioning, it may get a little warm and stuffy sometimes. Chef Jolly Wee, a Peranakan known to run cooking classes, manages the restaurant.

Parkway Thai Restaurant

Parkway Thai Restaurant has been whipping up sumptuous delicacies for several years. An intricate carving adorns the entrance while framed posters of scenic Thai landmarks grace the walls. The lunch buffet is available to savor 30 Thai favorites. The wonderful spread includes traditional favorites such as pineapple rice, honey chicken, tom yam soup and green curry chicken. Seafood lovers will relish the flower crabs. Alcohol is also on the menu. For dessert, a wide spread of kuehs will definitely be tempting.

Le Bistrot

Located at Singapore Indoor Stadium Le Bristo is one of the best places for French cuisine. Chef Lee Chin Sin is in charge here so expect the food to be top quality. You get traditional French food like steak frites and gratinated onion soup but with a new twist. The menu is ever-evolving with new delicacies added to it everyday. Try the Duck Leg Conflict or Poached Tiger Prawns for a taste of international flavors. Step in here after a concert or a game at the Indoor Stadium for glass of wine from their extensive selection.

Bali Thai

As its name implies, Bali Thai offers an interesting blend of Indonesian and Thai cuisine. Indonesian and Thai artwork tastefully grace the dining area, which has a bright and airy ambiance. With its no-liquor policy, this is an ideal spot for families. Savor the Indonesian Soto Ayam soup or the spicy Tom Yam soup, then tuck into the Thai Ikan Bakar (a whole sea bass barbecued in a sweet soya sauce) or Thai Green Curry. Vegetable dishes and rice are available to accompany your main course. Fruit juices, soft drinks, tea and coffee will quench your thirst.

Al Forno East Coast

Linen-clad tables, graceful arcs and attractive paintings make up part of the decor at Al Forno East Coast. The Carpaccio Napoletano features sliced raw fillet cooked in olive oil and garnished with celery, lemon and parmesan. Those who prefer clams should try the Soute Di Vongole. The clams are cooked with garlic, chilli, olive oil and white wine. For meat eaters there are the Tenderloin, Strip Sirloin and T-bone steaks. Besides the usual soft drinks and juices beer is also served. The alcohol list also includes Bacardi, Campari, gin, martini and vodka. For dessert, try the tiramisu or crème caramel.

Lemongrass Thai Restaurant

A pleasant setting with reasonable prices and friendly staff--these are the reasons why regulars keep returning. Soft lighting, scenic pictures, wooden chairs and round lacquered tables add class. House specialities include fish with chilli, pandan leaf chicken and green curry. Also delicious are the soft-shelled crabs, stuffed chicken wings and prawn patties. Perennial Thai favourites such as tom yam soup and pineapple rice, as well as traditional vegetarian Thai fare (advanced booking required) are also available.

Jyo Sushi Japanese Restaurant

Jyo Sushi is a trendy restaurant famous for it's sushi and sashimi rolls. The menu boasts of a large variety of sushi and sashimi. Green tea and ice cream are also available here.

Casa Bom Vento

Here is your chance to savor Eurasian and Peranakan (Straits Chinese) cuisine at the only Eurasian restaurant in Singapore. Warm service, reasonable prices and a homely atmosphere make for a pleasant dining experience. A Eurasian favourite, the rich and spicy debal curry is a must. Likewise, the nonya chicken curry has a nice, thick consistency. Delicious potato cutlets are the perfect side dish. The tau pok soup comprises huge pieces of bean curd stuffed with chicken and fish filling. Surprisingly, wine is not on the menu. Try the Katong jelly drink instead.

Different Tastes Cafe

Savour authentic Peranakan (Straits Chinese) cuisine in a cosy and informal setting. This food is an intriguing fusion of Chinese and Malay cooking styles and ingredients. The enticing menu includes curry fish head, sambal lady's finger with prawns, claypot tofu prawns and more. The only alcohol available at this establishment is Tiger Beer. Friendly and knowledgeable staff create a pleasant dining experience.

JUMBO

The East Coast Seafood Center is a fish lovers' delight as it houses around eight specialty restaurants-JUMBO is one of them. With outlets at various locations in the city, this establishment is a popular choice for those looking for an affordable, quality meal. A mix of Asian recipes, their menu will have any foodie salivating for more. Try the recommended JUMBO Chilli Crab, bamboo clams with minced garlic, deep fried beancurd and more.

Garden Slug

The Garden Slug is a cosy, unpretentious little restaurant hidden away in a quiet corner of Telok Kurau. The service is very personal and the owners are extremely friendly. It is the perfect place to chill out in the afternoons with some hand-churned Gelato or Tiramisu, but also a great place to bring a date out for an excellent steak. The Garden Slug offers free wifi and has a bookshelf of unusually good books for patrons to browse and even borrow- as long as they promise to return the books and come visit the Garden Slug again.
