Le Farfalla

Clubbers often come here for a bite before moving onto the Cat Corner nightclub next door. Stylish wooden surroundings and subdued lighting combine to create a relaxed atmosphere. Here, tasty and unpretentious cuisine is the order of the day. This is an enviable location, opposite the Palais des Festivals (where the Film Festival is held annually), and between La Croisette's beaches and the old port. The cafe is buzzing at lunchtime with the office crowd.

Le Restaurant Arménien

An excellent place to try out Armenian cuisine, this restaurant combines innovative culinary skills with the traditional cuisine. The national dish at Le Restaurant Arménien, is keshkeg (a mixture of beef and wheat), while the numerous starters include dolmas (vine leaves and stuffed vegetables). The famous chiche kebab (lamb kebab with rice or wheat) is also worth tasting. The set menu, which includes twenty starters, fifteen main dishes and five types of deserts, allows you to try an assortment of all these specialties.

Pavillon Croisette

Dine on the sunny terrace of this restaurant, whose décor is reminiscent of the early 50s. Open through the day, Pavillon Croisette serves a great continental breakfast. Enjoy some succulent seafood from the very varied menu - Sea Bream, Bass & Turbot. There are also shellfish platters. An added advantage is the service, which is both friendly and impeccable.

Le Relais Martinez

This restaurant offers a great view from within the famous Hotel Martinez. It is a favorite hangout for the film stars visiting Cannes during the Film festival. Younger sibling of one of the town's best restaurants, the Palme d'Or, Relais Martinez is refined and stylish. The prices are relatively moderate, and the cuisine is mostly Mediterranean and French.

Carlton Beach

Located in the heart of La Croisette, the famed Carlton hotel has a lovely, private beach where only hotel guests are allowed. It offers a range of water sports, such as water-skiing and parasailing. The restaurant offers a superb Provençal buffet, to be enjoyed while basking in the warm sun of the Riviera. Together with the hotel's restaurant, the Carlton is an ideal destination for a holiday at a luxury hotel.

Plage Royale

The Plage Royale is another private beach on the Croisette. It has its own landing stage, water-skiing facility, on-site solarium, sunbeds, parasols and deckchairs. The specialties of the restaurant are, not surprisingly, fresh fish, and there is also a bar and ice cream parlor. The town center is only a few minutes' walk.

Les Dunes

Even though Cannes' beaches have no dunes (at least not any more), such is the name of the private beach resort situated near the Port Canto harbor. The restaurant serves fish dishes. Sunloungers can be hired for for half the day or for full day, providing a perfect spot to enjoy the very respectable cuisine from the Dunes' kitchen. The town center is walking distance from the beach.

Festival

Relax over a meal or a drink here on the terrace (heated in winter) as you watch the world go by on La Croisette seafront. Popular with celebrities during the Film Festival, including models like Naomi Campbell and Laetitia Casta, who have been known to drop by. The fabulous, home-made pastries served here at breakfast are a festival legend and there's an excellent wine list (including a Château Pétrus) to accompany the seasonal menu. Dining room seats 80, terrace 50.

Morrison's Irish Pub

This is one of the popular pubs in Cannes, famous for its giant television screens and theme nights. Guinness and Kilkenny are the top thirst quenchers and live bands play traditional Irish folk, Rock or Blues. Sports fans are kept happy with big sporting events relayed on a large screen. It has souvenir T-shirts and polo shirts for sale, and bookings are taken for private functions (150 people max).

Voilier

Located between the Carlton and Martinez hotels, where many of stars stay during the Film Festival, and opposite the Croisette, this seafood restaurant offers a variety of fish dishes. The house specialty is the unique Marmite du Pêcheur (a type of fish soup with shellfish) which is well worth a try.

Galette de Marie

This crêperie's delightful combination of rustic and Breton décor is all part of its charm. Sample savory galettes made from buckwheat flour, or try sweet ones served with honey, jam or fruit and ice cream. The regions of Brittany and Provence are reunited in the house specialty. Be it a savory pancake filled with ratatouille or an attractive range of salads.

Auberge Provençale

Opened in 1860, Auberge Provençale claims to be the oldest restaurant in Cannes. It is an ideal place for business meetings, gala evenings, wedding receptions as well as candlelit dinners. Specialties include fish dishes such as Fried Calamars with Flavored Rice and Grooper Fish on Potatoes Olive Oil and Basil.
