Latina

With a convenient location in the Food Street area of the Jin Jiang Hotel, Latina is known throughout Shanghai for its authentic South American food and festive atmosphere. This is a very bright and cheery venue. A Brazilian band plays nightly, livening things up for the party mood between 6:30p and 10p. Latina offers diners genuine South American dishes. There is also a buffet of salads, pastas and desserts, along with an all-you-can-eat barbecue.

Delifrance

This French-style cafe/bakery is located on Shanghai's busiest commercial street. It belongs to a popular Hong Kong chain known for its sandwiches, great pastries and cheap breakfasts. The light, spacious interior resembles a Parisian cafe with quaint prints and nostalgic advertisements adorning the walls, and small wooden tables and chairs around the room. A magazine rack offers Chinese and English language reading material. Order from a variety of Western breakfasts, such as your choice of bacon, ham or sausage with eggs, a baguette and coffee. Eat in or take-away.

Gino's Cafe

This branch (at the Parkson Department Store) is one of many in the city, notable for its catchy brown signs and yellow writing. The Gino's Cafe branches are reasonably cheap places to eat for a quick lunch or casual dinner.The interior is modern and comfortable with high stools and coffee tables. More standard table seating is also available, and the service is efficient and polite. Hop in to try a wide selection of tasty pastas and pizzas, as well as sandwiches and desserts.

Soho Pub

This bar brings to you a taste of England and Americana. The lively, vibrant atmosphere with foot-tapping music set the mood for the night. Soho Pub lets the young crowd eat and drink merrily with promotions like a free beer on the purchase of one. Whether you are here to dance, drink or dine, this place is perfect.

Fu Lin Xuan

Fu Lin Xuan is an upscale Cantonese restaurant in the city. A visit here is definitely worth it when planning a very special night out. Except for the specials of the day, all other items on the menu (including the vegetables) are reasonably priced. Delectable Hong Kong-style dim sum is served on the weekends. Famous for its stylish interior, very fine food and excellent reputation, Fu Lin Xuan scores high on all points.

Hazara

Hazara is a name familiar to many locals tuned into Shanghai's wining and dining scene. A very popular eatery serving authentic Indian food, its reputation is also attributed to its innovative decor. The exotically beautiful surroundings consist of the dining area enclosed in an orange tent. Indian artifacts and antiques up the "wow" factor. The menu features standard Indian curries, tandoori meats and breads. Dishes are pricey but considering the quality, worth the high cost. Recommended is the leg of lamb in cardamom.

Lan Na Thai

Housed in the beautifully restored three-story building of the Ruijin Hotel, with the posh Face (bar) and Hazara (Indian restaurant), Lan Na Thai certainly holds its own. The Thai restaurant transports diners to the lush and romantically tropical ambiance of Thailand. Incense, wall hangings and statues adorn the room. The decor is backed by an English-speaking staff that is polite and efficient. The chefs prepare some of the most authentic Thai food in town.

Quanjude Roast Duck Restaurant

The original restaurant of this famous Beijing duck restaurant chain was established way back in 1864. The chains staying power is testament to the quality of its cuisine. Sit in this traditional, Chinese decorated restaurant and enjoy. The chain, famous for fattening and roasting ducks, is one of the best places to try this world-renowned Beijing cuisine. Beside juicy ducks, the restaurant also has many fine traditional, northern Chinese dishes.

Tian Tian Wang

Tian Tian Wang is the place where young Shanghainese like to hang out for night dining. The three-story building is famous for Hot Pot, known in Chinese as Huo Guo. The distinctive aroma of the cuisine draws groups of strollers here for late-night meals. Young Shanghainese consider this an excellent dining experience.

Mister Donut

Get a whiff and a slurp of some typically American foodstuff at this restaurant. Imitating a fast food joint in decor and service, the eatery serves, like the name suggests—dough nuts, among other quick bites. You can choose from a wide variety of quick bites and dough nuts at very cheap rates. SO if your looking for some American fast food in shanghai this is a very economical choice.

Baci Italian Restaurant

Owned and managed by Hong Kong's Lan Kwai Fong Restaurant Group who also run Cochinchina 1883 and Tokio Joe, Baci is an upscale addition to Shanghai's wining and dining scene. Magnificent garden views, cosmopolitan style, well-stocked bar and superb Italian cuisine make it an ideal venue for lazy Sunday brunches, business lunches or romantic dinners. The food is delightful and well-presented. Try the not-too-tomatoey minestrone soup and the tantalizing Linguini alle Vongole (linguini and clams). The Italian classic, tiramisu, is done justice here—smooth, rich and creamy.

Istanbul Turkish Restaurant & Bar

This eatery has employed two chefs from Turkey and so authenticity in the food department is guaranteed. Order the Turkish Dolmas or the Stuffed Meat with Sauce and for sweetening your teeth even more, go for the Pumpkin Pie or Cheesecake and then to the more traditional Sutlac. Business set lunches are available and on a more entertaining note, enjoy your meals with gorgeous turkish belly dancers gyrating sensuously on stage.
