Moose's Tooth Pub and Pizzeria

Start your meal off with a roasted garlic head with beer batter bread served with spreadable gorgonzola cheese. Then press on to the choices of pizza and salads. Try the Smoked Salmon Cream Cheese Pizza, white pizza (Greek style with artichoke hearts, feta and mushrooms) or the Chicken Picante. Drinks feature home brewed root beer for the kids and kid in you, and award winning Ales and Lagers for the adults.

Jens' Restaurant

More than 40 wines are offered by the glass in the fabulous wine bar and restaurant. The dining room is elegant with cream stucco and eclectic artwork evenly spaced on the walls. With French, New American and Scandinavian choices, Alaskan seafood is the steadiest presence on the menu. Entrees like grilled salmon served with a cold horseradish, herb-butter and mahi-mahi topped by a spicy fruit salsa will be matched, at your request, with a wine chosen by the wine expert on staff. Veal, rack of lamb and many other options are available.

Cafe Amsterdam

Quite the popular lunch spot, if you arrive at noon, it will be too late to get a table. The smug expressions of those who are seated will attest to the quality of the food and service that you're missing. Try the Belgium waffles that are fluffy and light, but crispy and topped with fresh berries and hot maple syrup or sample the hot soup of the day and half of a deli sandwich. The coffee is gourmet, freshly ground and delicious.

La Mex

This is the kind of restaurant where the staff sings to you for your birthday. Try the enormous combination platters if you are really hungry or a dinner plate like the Halibut Stuffed Tacos with lime sauce and fresh fruit salsa for. House wine is Gallo and Mexican, domestic and microbrew beer is available. Come and enjoy your evening here!

Romano's

Latticework dividers and streaming silk flowers decorate the walls here. Candles rest in old wine jugs on tables, which, when coupled with the dim lighting at dinner, provides a casual and cozy atmosphere. Appetizers such as Clams Casino ($6.75) and Calamari (6.95) will whet your appetite. Then, choose between regular selections of Homemade Ravioli ($12.95), Fettucine with Scallops and Smoked Salmon ($16.95), New York Steak with Bleu Cheese (18.95) and Broiled Halibut ($17.95). Pizza by Guido's

This is a feel-good, hang-loose joint whose staff has plenty of sass. Sports teams frequent this spot after games. For pizza and Italian food lovers looking for a meal dripping with sauces and taste, this is your spot. Select from Strombolis, Veal Spaghetti and a diverse, fresh salad bar. Pizzas can be prepared Greek style with extra-large sizes (17") ranging from. Beer choices include Alaskan Amber and Alaskan Pale Ale as well as Budweiser and Coors.

Aladdin's Fine Mediterranean & American Cuisine

This restaurant provides authentic Mediterranean dishes - with a nice selection of vegetarian options, including a Sampler Plate (with Falafel, Spanokopita, Dolmas, Tsatsiki and Greek or Caesar Salad), Vegetarian Mousaka, Eggplant Parmesan and a Veggies and Fruit Curry. There are also seafood, poultry, lamb and beef dishes such as Shawarma and others. The wine list is varied; the house wine is Sutter Homes.

Pizza Olympia

Since 1985 the Maroudas family has brought fine dining to Anchorage. Numerous Greek and Italian entrees such as mousaka, pastitchio, kalamarakla, chicken cacciatore, lasagna and pizzas are delectably prepared. As an appetizer, choose the large antipasto, made of meats, cheeses, pepperoncinis, olives and more (enough for four people). Desserts include selections like baklava, galaktobouriko and creamy spumoni. Domestic and imported beer is served, as well as Greek and American wines.

The Arctic Roadrunner

Outstanding atmosphere and burgers make it successful. Each wall is covered in Alaskan history through photos and stories of the many friends of this restaurant. Locals and tourists alike, tip their heads back and read from these walls. Offering basic burgers with different spins including the halibut or the salmon patty, it is best known for the big juicy hamburgers and tasty fries that come in large portions served piping hot. Shakes, sodas and coffee are available but not alcohol.

Sourdough Mining Company

In addition to baby back barbecued ribs, blackened and fried seafood and enormous steaks and chops, you get your choice of corn fritters, steak fries, baked beans, corn on the cob, baked potatoes and a dessert bar. Beer is served up in massive ice chilled urns and the waitresses just fly to keep you up to your elbows in hot food. Several microbrews and domestic beers are on tap. A free shuttle is available to any Anchorage hotel for dinner pick up and drop.

Sorrento's Restaurant

Cozy up here! The high booths and intimate seating arrangements maximize privacy, while hanging plants, wine served in carafes and soft music add to the charm. A wide selection of pizzas and signature dishes such as Orange Roughy Almondine, Eggplant Parmigiana, and Pollo Alla Greca are samples of the variety of dishes served. Do not forget the calzones and numerous pasta dishes listed. Beer and cocktails are available also.

Ichiban

Dimly lit and typically quiet, this restaurant provides an intimate dining experience for couples and can accommodate the hush-hush business meeting. Frequenters are local Japanese, business travelers and the business people of Anchorage. Offering all types of sushi and sashimi, the Kiss of Fire a Cajun spiced salmon sushi, is especially good and uses salmon caught in Alaska. Lunch specials daily are offered with teriyaki, tempura and sukiyaki. Beer and wine are available.
