Aumühle

There are many good reasons to take a trip to Aumühle. Walking through this picturesque little town you will see several exclusive villas. You could visit Fürst Bismarck's Museum and Mausoleum on the outskirts of town in the direction of Friedrichsruh, or you can take a nice long walk through the beautiful Saxonian Forest. There is also an attraction for trainspotters and railway fans. The Verein Verkehrsamateure und Museumsbahn e.V. maintains an open-air museum for historic trains behind the engine shed at Aumühle station. Interesting old railway carriages are renovated for visitors here. The museum is open at weekends. YIt is worth noting that there is some exquisite gastronomy to be had around the lake in Aumühle-not just for tired day-trippers.

Schloss Reinbek

Reinbek Castle was designed as a hunting lodge. Adolf Duke of Schleswig-Holstein Gottorf built it in 1576 in the fashion of the Dutch Renaissance. It is located near a beautiful little lake, which makes it both a good starting point or final destination for a long walk. The building was thoroughly refurbished from 1977-1987 and has served as a cultural center since then. Temporary art exhibitions and classical concert as well as many other events take place here. There is also a nice café with an open-air terrace within the castle.
