Persuading children to read can be a Herculean task. However, it can be made less difficult by bringing your children to Libreria dei ragazzi. Parco della collina di Superga

Parco della collina di Superga is an ideal place for a trip just outside Turin. It is one of the most beautiful green spaces around Turin. The flora is particularly special and features both alpine and Mediterranean vegetation, such as the domestic cork oak, oak, and the butcher's-broom. There are also many species here which make it a protected area, such as some orchids and yellow foxgloves. It is a pleasure to enjoy the landscape and the Basilica of Superga which is itself immersed in nature.

Bosco del Vaj

Bosco del Vaj is a protected area in Parco della Collina Torinese. It occupies the eastern part of the Turin hills, and extends over an area of 72 hectares. The surreal and beautiful natural surroundings make this spot one of the most beautiful tourist destinations of Turin. The flora here is rich and varied, including dogs tooth, primrose, anemones, bell flowers, gladioli, lilies, myrtle and rhododendron. Amongst the animals that children can discover here are weasels, hedgehogs, moles, badgers, sparrowhawks, pheasants, turtledoves, woodpeckers and green lizards.

Palazzo dell'Accademia delle scienze

Begun in 1679 on the design of Guarino Guarini, the imposing brick building was completed in 1687 by Michelangelo Garove (with the exception of the side facing the square behind). Originally the College of the Nobles, the building was to be connected to Piazza Castello directly by a system of tunnels and covered passages that were never built. Today the building is the home of the Egyptian Museum, the Academy of Sciences and the Savoy Art Gallery.

The Olympic Village

Three Villages in Turin, Sestriere and Bardonecchia are home to 4,000 athletes, insuring their comfort and relaxation.The Olympic Village is located next to the Oval Lingotto, with the 1934 Mercati Generali (General Markets) historical building at the center of its complex. Built using bio-architectural methods, skiers, skaters and bobsleigh runners alike will have environmentally sound housing, which is estimated to save 60% on energy costs. This place serves as the logistics centre during the duration of the Games.

Ristocolor

With all the wonderful food and historic sights Turin has to offer, it can be hard to fit everything into one visit. However, Ristocolor provides busy travellers with a new way to dine- onboard a historic tram! Take a ride through the streets and past historic monuments while enjoying each dish specializing in the delicious Piedmont cuisine. The tram has been completely renovated to fit up to 32 passengers, with colorful decorations both inside and out. It is a great way to fit in even more of what the city has to offer.

Piazza Madama Cristina

Turin's Piazza Madama Cristina is the perfect place for San Salvario bargain hunters, or for those who like their fruits and veggies fresh. The shaded square is named after Renaissance woman Madama Cristina (1606-1663). The beautiful Parco del Valentino lies just to the east.

Asti
