Varkert Casino

Varkert casino is ensconced in a World Heritage building. The story goes back to the late 1800s when this exquisite piece of architecture served first as the water supply department of the Royal Palace, then as a coffee house.man. Later it was transformed into a music pavilion. The next 40 long years saw this magnificent façade metamorphosised into an elitist restaurant. Now, post renovation, it is the Varkert Casino, so place your bets as the stakes are high!

Magyar Allami Operahaz (Hungarian State Opera)

This beautiful venue hall is the hallmark of Hungarian theatre. Majestic and opulent, it is lauded for its neo-renaissance architecture. The experience of catching a Verdi or Wagner performance cannot be compared with anything else. One of the two venues of Budapest Opera House, Magyar Allami Operhaz is the most popular place for ballets, concerts, operas, musicals, and compositions, including Bartók and Kodály.

Orokmozgo Filmmuzeum

This is the Hungarian home of Fellini and Hitchcock. However, there's lots more on offer at this house of the Hungarian Film Archive. Thematic film weeks,and mini-festivals are often held here. The tickets are cheap at 300-400 ft. This is a place that film buffs won't want to miss.

Muvesz

This is a lively, multi-screen film house, showing films daily. Enjoy new releases, second-runnings and classic films. They screen local films, as well as both Hungarian and foreign pictures. International film festival winners are also likely to be shown here. World music CDs and books are sold in the lobby. After a show, head downstairs to the restaurant and club to discuss the film you just watched over coffee, a drink, or light fare.

Mokka Cuka

Mokka Cuka is one of the hottest concert venues of Budapest, where every summer there are a plethora of musical shows going on. From jazz to electro to rock and pop, almost every genre is experimented with by bands and artists to entertain audiences. Some very prominent concerts take place at this partially covered, partially open air club on Hajogyari Island. Check website for event schedule and other information.

Events Hall

Events Hall is one of the most exciting entertainment venues of Budapest. Throughout the year, some major concerts and performances are held here. Hidegkuti Nándor Stadium

Nearly a century old, the state owned Hidegkuti Nandor Stadion has been around longer than most other sporting arenas and still continues to host football matches and other events during non match days. Named after the dashing Hungarian footballer Nándor Hidegkuti, it is the home stadium of a Budapest football club MTK Budapest FC. The Sylvester Stallone film 'Escape to Victory' was filmed here in 1981.

Szusza Ferenc Stadion

Set up in 1922 by Alfréd Hajós, the state owned Szusza Ferenc Stadion was formerly known as Megyeri úti Stadion. However it was fittingly renamed after Hungary's most agile striker, Ferenc Szusza in 2003. Home stadium to football club Újpest FC and with a capacity of over 13,501, it commands a lot of importance with inter-club and international matches being held here. The athletic track along with floodlights illuminating the ground, adds to the electric atmosphere especially at night when spectators are assured an unforgettable sporting experience.

Stadion Budai II. Laszló

This football stadium has been an active part of the sporting scene of the city. With a capacity of around 10,000, Stadion Budai II. Laszló hosts local and international sports events. Apart from football matches, this facility is used for hosting cultural events. The supporting features of the stadium are excellent and that includes an electronic score board and flood lights. The stadium is also the home ground of the Hungarian football club, Rákospalotai EAC.

Stadion Jozsef Bozsik

Named after Hungary's gorgeous sport icon Jozsef Bozsik, Stadion Jozsef Bozsik was fairly elemental when it opened in 1939 and fell prey to the ravages of World War II. Finally renovated, the stadium boasts a 9,500 seating capacity, 20 room hotel, shower rooms, a VIP lounge, state-of-the-art floodlights for night matches and a restaurant. It is now the home stadium for football club Budapest Honvéd FC and is managed by George Hemingway who has definitely restored this historic playing field to its former glory days.
