2 Grafton St

A stroll down the south city pedestrian center is always entertaining. From street performers to stalls of bright flowers, there is action to be found along this famous shopping street.

Hugh Lane Municipal Gallery of Modern Art

The city art gallery of Dublin is home to a life-size replica of Francis Bacon’s studio. Depicted the way it was found at his death, the studio is a gateway into the life of the famous painter.

Garden of Remembrance

Across the street from the Hugh Lane Gallery, a memorial is sunk into the ground and succeeds in removing the sounds of the city. The Garden of Remembrance is a reflective pool and stunning statue that is dedicated to all who gave their lives for Ireland’s freedom.

National Library of Ireland

Often the best place to get a glass of free wine and a tour of one of Dublin’s historical buildings is by entering the flourishing literary scene. Known for their contributions to literature, the Irish maintain weekly readings, book signings, and launches. Check with Trinity College Dublin or Poetry Ireland for a listing of events.

National Photographic Archive

The premier space for photography in Ireland, the Gallery of Photography in Temple Bar has been home to exhibitions of the best contemporary photographers from an Irish and international background.

Trinity College

Academics, writers and intellectual-celebrities are often brought in by Trinity College to give lectures that are free to the public. Appearances by Nobel prize winners are rarely free of charge, but Trinity has been known to make this offer.
