Espana is a well-known places among backpackers, who come to Lima from all over the world. Hotel Espana is housed in a small, rustic building with interior wood finishes. It has a central courtyard and is situated right in the center of Lima, a few meters from the Iglesia San Francisco. From here, you can walk to the most important historic monuments and around the loveliest streets of old Lima. Allyu

Opened in 2005, the name of this hetero-friendly gay budget accommodation means community in Quechua. It's located on a quiet side street in Miraflores and is a great option for its price range. There are just five rooms, one of them a suite, all with a bright, cheery modern decor. All rooms include cable TV and come with a private or shared bathroom. A multi-lingual staff, Spanish lessons, free Internet use and wireless Internet access, free mineral water, breakfast, and a number of different amenities make up this small, but charming hotel. Nuevo Mundo

This new, trendy upscale hotel in San Isidro models Feng Shui style décor and an upscale feel at a reasonable price. The 68 guest rooms, while not overly lavish, are comfortable and include all the facilities you would expect in a hotel of this caliber. Amenities include money exchange, tourist info, business center, valet parking, and 24-hour room service. There is a coffee bar, Wings bar, and Angelus restaurant has a different themed buffet each day. Prices include breakfast buffet. San Antonio Abad

Set in a colonial structure, hotel San Antonio Abad is anything but imposing. Warm and charming this hotel provides a safe, cheerful and decently priced alternative for your stay in Lima. It's a great option considering its location in the bustling Miraflores area.

The 158 rooms and suites come well equipped and are colorful, comfortable and reasonably stylish. The best part about this hotel is its location and its proximity to the busy Miraflores district, as well as the more historical areas of the city.

Hospedaje Tinkus

Though "hospedaje" is usually translated as hostel, this little place is a transformed mansion that looks more like a bed and breakfast. The lobby is placed under the open sky and the staff is friendly and family-like. It's conveniently located four blocks from downtown Miraflores with plenty of sightseeing, shops, restaurants, bars, dance clubs, and movies. It's also a short bus or cab ride to the beach. On the third floor they have an open deck where you have a view of the neighborhood. Private bathroom, breakfast, cable TV, and Internet all included. Come and rest your tired feet. - Robert Nomura
