La Carbonería

An atmospheric and versatile venue located in a converted coalyard that organizes exhibitions of paintings, poetry recitals, concerts and live flamenco performances. It's divided into three sections. There's a cozy bar set around a huge open fire. There's a typical Andalusian patio, and there's a large open bar area with trestle tables and benches that has a small stage where you can see and hear flamenco. It's popular with foreigners and bohemian Spaniards. You have to wander around the narrow old streets of the Santa Cruz district for a while before you find it hidden away in an alley. The bars serve a wide range of beers, wines and spirits. You can order tapas or try the specialty grilled meats. There is a regular calendar of shows, exhibitions, and singing and dancing classes.

Cosa Nostra

Chequered tablecloths in a restaurant reminiscent of Italy due to its effective decor, even though it is located in Betis Street and from its windows you can see the Giralda in the distance. With low ceilings and a very Latin atmosphere you can eat lunch or dinner with your partner or your children for a very good price. The food is not original but is delicious. Salads, fettuccini, spaghetti and, of course, pizza. The service is attentive and if you go with your family nobody will be disappointed. Round tables where the children, the grandparents, nieces and nephews can all sit and eat great lasagne to Italian music.

Helas

Located very close to Santa Justa station and a stone's throw from the city centre, you will see this Greek restaurant, perfect if you want a change and to eat as if you where very close to Parthenon. The most characteristic dishes of the Greek cuisine like musaka or suvlaki, accompanied by Greek music and wine will make you feel a long way from Seville. There are specialities that you will never have heard of and whose names will not tell you what you are ordering, but the waiters are more than happy to help and to explain what is in each dish. Another reason for visiting Helas is that you don't have to be Onassis to eat here, completely the opposite in fact.

La Reja

Located in one of the most touristic areas of Seville, in the square that serves as an entrance to the network of streets of the Santa Cruz district and la Juderia (the Jewish quarter), you can have a pleasant lunch in this restaurant after walking the historic heart of the old city. Although car access is a little difficult, there is a nearby car park at Cano y Cueto, next to the Murillo gardens.in this restaurant we find a menu where the main stars are dishes from Andalusia: gazpachos, meats from Jabugo, fried fish, shellfish, soups.Cooked with ingredients produced in the area, made by the experts who work in the kitchen and served with a great deal of care and attention.

Puerta Grande

The location of this restaurant is one of luxury, with the bullring on one side and the Opera House on the other. Furthermore the restaurant Puerta Grande is a museum of bullfighting.Its particular atmosphere attracts bullfighters,artists, intellectuals and people from the world of flamenco.Only a little plaque tells us that inside this splendid 19th century house you can find Antonio Donaire ready to offer us the best stews.Home made food of the highest quality.Bull's tail and cuttlefish with crisps are the weapons of a master.

Sevilla Bahía

Belonging to the family Salas,whose professional approach is grounded in their experience at the restaurant El Cairo, situated in Reyes Catolicos, this establishment combines the traditional cuisine with the creativity of its chefs. As indicated by its name,it attempts to bring the bays of Cadiz and Huelva to Seville, and this is why their specialities are fish and shellfish that they buy daily from the fish market. Furthermore, for those who prefer food from the country or the mountains, the menu also offers ox meat, lamb, Iberian pig and game.The food is good value for money and the service is impeccable. You feel at home in this friendly restaurant.

Sebastián

Located in the Los Remedios district, very close to the river and Triana, this restaurant was founded in 1998 by the cook that has given it its name.Unique cuisine with a personal touch, where you will feel as if you are part of a family and where you can savour exquisite dishes that have the touch of Sebastian.Amongst its specialities you can try the fish and shellfish from Isla Cristina, the traditional seafood stews, lobster with rice and home made puddings,like the "suspiro Sebastian".

Hang Zhou

One of the most beautiful areas of the city is its old centre, where you can see the Cathedral, the Plaza Virgen de los Reyes and the Santa Cruz district starts. Mateos Gago street is the meeting point for thousands of foreigners who visit Seville and who want to get a true flavour of the city. It is here that you find this Chinese restaurant. It offers a change of menu from the numerous bars and restaurants serving typical Andalusian dishes in the area and it is well worth checking out the oriental delicacies as an alternative. As is normal with Chinese restaurants, the menu offers a variety of dishes and it is possible to visit this restaurant on many occasions and not eat the same dish twice. Rice comes in all its varieties, along with noodles, spring rolls, salads and soups. For the main course there is chicken curry, beef with bean shoots, duck, and sweet and sour pork. For dessert the speciality is fried bananas. If on the day you visit there are not too many people you might receive a Chinese liquor on the house. If you have never tried one don't be afraid to ask, but don't try to find out what's in the bottle!
