Maya Restaurant

It is hard not to notice the Mayan paintings and petite wooden tables. The Yucatan menu with European and Caribbean influences is sometimes spicy but can be modified to suit your taste. Prawns diablo, rib eye steak, Maya carnitas are interesting entree choices. Lime tortilla soup and Maya house salad are innovative culinary treats. Margaritas can be sipped at the Temple of Tequila which is an aptly named bar. Maya memorabilia is also available at the restaurant.

LaSalette Restaurant

La Sallette located in the middle of Sonoma, offers Portugese cuisine made in olive oil. All dishes are served hot, right out from the oven, so the dining room is often filled with the freshness of tasty Portugese food. The specialty of the restaurant is the sea-food they serve. The dishes made here are a combination of various ingredients from across the globe, like rice from the far east, spices from India and so on. You can call it a global restaurant that serves Portugese food in the Sonoma County. Now isn't that interesting?

Murphy's Irish Pub

Visit Murphy's Irish Pub for a true pub experience. You can listen to live music or watch plays or take part in literary events held at the pub. Interesting feature of this place is, it is also open for kids! but anyway that would be your call! The back room is a good venue for small family gatherings or parties. The menu offers a wide variety of cocktails, beer & wine, delicious sandwiches, chips and whiskey. Various quiz competitions and games make this a lively place for you to drink, enjoy and hangout.

Shiso

Shiso offers Asian food and is also a Suhsi bar. Their specialties include Miso soup, Roasted Winter Mushrooms, Braised Beef Short Ribs and crispy mouth-watering Pork Belly. The lighting in the restaurant is nice and creates a romantic atmosphere. The comfortable seating and cozy bar would tempt one to pay a second visit. The restaurant is run by Ed Metcalfe who has 25 years of experience in the food business...and this certainly shows in the food and service offered here. The staff is very friendly and welcomes everyone with a smile.

Della Santina's

Della Santina's offers the best of pastas, rotisserie meats and other dishes from the Italian cuisine. The tables are neatly placed, with comfortable seating, and decorated with the best flowers, which has become a hallmark of the restaurant. The dining hall is spacious and offers a good view of the street. For more privacy, you can also sit on the back patio. This restaurant also has a garden which is available for corporate functions, cocktail parties and banquets.

Deuce

Located near Sonoma Plaza, Deuce specializes in French-inspired American dishes that are paired well with wines from around. With 14 wines to choose from, patrons can savor interesting takes on barbecue pork sandwich, dungeness crab gratin, braised pork shoulder, bucatini pasta and desserts of chocolate pot de creme and sorbets. Patio seating is possible, weather permitting. Reservations are necessary, especially on weekend evenings.

El Dorado Kitchen

Located on the ground level of El Dorado Hotel, the Kitchen prepares a sophisticated Californian menu of steak and truffle fries, Basque bouillabaisse, endive salad and free range chicken dishes. Choose to be seated at the poolside beds, the garden courtyard or private cabanas. The cocktail lounge offers interesting concoctions and about 20 wines by the glass. Dinner reservations apply.

The Girl and the Fig

On the ground level of Sonoma Hotel, The Girl and the Fig offers eclectic French cuisine. The decor is casual and laid back and can get loud when the crowd streams in. Braised pork loin, steak tartare, duck confit, croque monsieur, pan seared duck, salami and brie sandwich, niman ranch jambon, salmon nicoise and homemade fig cake are some of the menu listings. Moreover, the bar has a great selection of French wines and cocktails. Reservations are the way to go.

Sonoma Meritage

The oyster bar at Sonoma Meritage is the main draw, offering trendy concoctions and a limited but excellent bar menu. Find interesting oysters on the half shell, barbecue oysters being the prime choice. Patrons can choose from the seafood tank or simply follow the staff's suggestions. Dinner options at the Grill feature wild boar babyback ribs, Parma prosciutto, prawn scampi, seafood stew and seared salmon. Excellent vegetarian sides are also available. Reservations are recommended.

Basque Boulangerie Cafe

With awards adorning the walls, Basque Boulangerie Cafe is the place for breakfast and cheap afternoon snacks. The deli stacks baguettes, Russian tea cakes, chicken Caesar salad, pear pastries, beehive cake, oatmeal cookies and hearty sandwiches. The place has counter service that is almost always crowded, and finding a seat can be a task. But the food is worth the wait and regulars will vouch for that.
