Zamora is a richly diverse province, still waiting to be discovery by the world. Zamora town and province are filled with history and charm.

The siege of Zamora, tin1072, is the most known historical fact about the city. The defense of Doña Urraca, besieged by his brother Sancho II, who had the invaluable presence of Rodrigo Diaz de Vivar, the Cid.



On arriving in Zamora you step into a unique world in which past, present and future simultaneously coexist. A medieval city, the birthplace of poets like Claudio Rodríguez and León Felipe.

The cathedral

The construction of the cathedral is attributed to Bishop Stephen, built near the castle, and commended by Alfonso VII the Emperor and his sister Sancha.

The cathedral is sited over the house which Solomon had lived. It was built in twenty three years since the works begun. Actually a really fast work for its times.

Río Duero

The meadows of the river Duero crossing Zamora have created an spectacular landscape not difficult to go throughout by, hiking , horse riding, or sailing the river.

Semana Santa (Easter)

If you go to Zamora in Semana Santa , you'll discover the splendor of its Guilds and processions. It was declared of International tourist interest. A very deeply religious and artistic experience.

La Tierra del vino (the land of wine)

The region known as “Tierra del Vino” (the land of wine) is located at the southeast of the province of Zamora.

It lies on both banks of the Duero river, winery river , as it winds its way through the province of Zamora, and is crossed North to South by the Roman Vía de la Plata, ( Silver Road).



It covers a total surface area of 1,799 square kilometers, which extends throughout a total of 56 boroughs, 46 of which belong to the province of Zamora
