The Breakout Creek Wetlands has been designed both to restore natural habitat and to improve the water quality of River Torrens water discharging into the sea. Native trees and grasses have been planted to attract birds and insects while reed-covered shallows and deep pools have been designed to slow river flow. Whether cycling or walking along this pleasant stretch of River Torrens Linear Park, the wetlands provide several spots to rest and watch egrets and cormorants busy themselves fishing.
