This crater of an extinct volcano got its name when Western explorers mistook calcite crystals they found there for diamonds. The historic trail to the 761-foot summit starts inside the crater and is an easy, but steep, 45-minute hike to the top. Stay on the trail, wear appropriate footgear and sunscreen, take along water and bring a flashlight to light your way through the tunnels. Those who reach the summit are rewarded by a spectacular 360-degree view of O'ahu. The tunnel gates close promptly at 6p. Admission: USD1 per person, USD5 per vehicle.

step to top
travel plce for family
comfortable weather and beautiful cute sunshine

Not usually crowded in the summertime and very peaceful. Playgrounds for the kids and interesting history for the adults since it was a very secure military installation during WWII

Great hike and even better views from the top. Can't pass up the certificate to prove you've climbed the mountain. Can't miss attraction in Honolulu

Diamonds are a girls best friend. Being close to the beach in hawaii, drinking umbrella drinks, enjoying some wonderful rays in my bikini, what more would a girl want?

gorgeous view from diamond head

It is absolutely spectaular with the views of the crystal clear water, the lush green foliage, the marine life below. It is simply one of the most mystical places on Earth! Thank you Hawaii!

Diamond Head is a defining feature of the view known to residents and tourists of Waikīkī alike. The volcanic cinder cone is a United States State Monument. While part of it serves as a platform for antennas used by the U.S. government and is closed to the public, the crater's proximity to Honolulu's resort hotels and beaches makes the rest of it a popular destination

The history behind the radar installment made the trip worthwhile. I would go back because the views are great as well. Being able to look down on the lighthouse was pretty cool as well

What a beautiful place to visit. The view from the top is amazing. What a hike, though. What a sense of accomplishment, and the perfect reason to get a shave ice!

Beautiful location, especially the Waikiki Shell which is a outdoor concert hall where they have Birthday Bash and other great musical festivals.

really really cool hiking up and watching the sun rise would deffinatally do it again

It was very interesting had many cool things that i had never seen before so it was a plus for me.it was also very unique.

It's a great piece of history.
