Treasure Island is an artificial island constructed by the Works Progress Administration. It was constructed for the 1939 World's Fair and to celebrate the completion of the Bay Bridge. Named after Robert Louis Stevenson's novel of the same name, it was then used as a Naval Base during the World War II. Numerous films like the Flubber, Bicentennial Man and many more have been shot here in the old aircraft hangars, that serve as great sound studios. All you movie-buffs out there, be sure to make the trip to Treasure Island.
