Yellowstone is a one of a kind experience. I remember as a kid looking out and seeing buffalo, inches from our car window. Then 30 minutes later you will be looking at a beautiful waterfall, then down the road, some crazy geo-thermal thing. It's really something everyone has to see before they die.

This is definitely the top park in the country. This is really the only park I've been to where you can actually see ANIMALS instead just trees and rock formations. Old Faithful is also a huge plus.

It may be famous for Old Faithful, but Yellowstone offers some of the best natural views of wildlife this country has to offer. You'll drive alongside roaming deer, elk, and bison. There's plenty to see all year round, and guided tours can take you deeper into the park.

I have visited Yellowstone National Park during the summer two times. When I go back to Yellowstone, I am planning on spending a few days if not a week. There is so much to see and so much to do. Everything is beautiful from the mountains to the rivers and lakes, Old Faithful and other geysers. The variety of animals and flowers are incredible. The view at sunrise and sunset are better than any I have ever seen. I hope to bring my family to Yellowstone so they can see one of my favorite places I have ever been.
Being from the city and the midwest, I am always excited to get away and see the enormous expanse of mountains and natural beauty in the west. To stand at a geyser and watch it "explode" and see the colors of the hot springs - especially the Grand Prismatic Spring with its rich browns, yellows, blues and oranges.
If you are ever in the north west, you need to stop at Yellowstone National Park and take time to spot the variety of wildlife and of course Old Faithful!

Stretching into Wyoming, Montana, and Idaho, Yellowstone was the first national park in the world and is one of the most famous in the world, founded in 1872. One of the most popular geographic features in the park is Old Faithful Geyser. Yellowstone Lake is one of the largest high-altitude lakes in North America, centered over the largest supervolcano on the continent, the Yellowstone Caldera.

Things I would do differently if I went again... take more pictures, allow more time to explore the park

Old Faithful is a "blast". The sulfur pots are smelly but cool. Mountains are spectacular.

This place is huge and amazing and awe-inspiring. I would go every year if I could.

The geysers, the animals (up close and personal with the buffalo), the waterfalls and Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone.
tips for first time travelers - Go out early in the morning or late in afternoon for the best animal sitings. If you are a hiker get out on the trails. Magic happens in the back country.
Two trails I would reccomend - Fairy Falls and as an overnight - 7 Mile Hole.

I work in Yellowstone during the summer months, and the people you meet, along with the hikes, drives, and other various excursions in the park are all memorable due to the good friends I was with. From a quarter mile hike to a waterfall, to a 50 mile hike over the Rocky Mountains, a hike around geyser basins, or just enjoying sitting on the porch and enjoying the weather, Yellowstone has it all.
