Day-by-Day Itinerary

Day 1

Depart USA* - Board your overnight transatlantic flight.

Days 2-3

Arrive in Madrid, Spain - Welcome to the capital of Spain, Madrid! After check-in, unwind and relax or start exploring. This evening, we enjoy a Welcome Drink with our Tour Director and fellow travelers.

Day 3

DAY 3 TOLEDO EXCURSION AND MADRID SIGHTSEEING - First we enjoy an included excursion to Toledo, capital of Castile. Here sightseeing with a local guide includes a visit to the synagogue, the Church of Santo Tomé and a steel workshop. Then we return to Madrid where our guided tour shows us the Plaza España, the Puerta del Sol, the Cibeles Fountain and Gran Via. (BB)

Days 4-6

Toledo Excursion and Madrid Sightseeing - First we enjoy an included excursion to Toledo, capital of Castile. Here sightseeing with a local guide includes a visit to the synagogue, the Church of Santo Tomé and a steel workshop. Then we return to Madrid where our guided tour shows us the Plaza España, the Puerta del Sol, the Cibeles Fountain and Gran Via. (BB)

Day 5

DAY 5 BARCELONA SIGHTSEEING AND AT LEISURE - Sightseeing with our local guide includes a walking tour of the Gothic Quarter with its impressive cathedral. We also see Gaudi’s Sagrada Familia plus many of his other eccentric masterpieces. Later, we’ll view the Columbus’ Monument and the Ramblas. Then enjoy some free time. Why not take an excursion to mystical Montserrat to see the Black Madonna? (BB)

Day 6

DAY 6 BARCELONA / ARLES, FRANCE / LES BAUX / AIX-EN-PROVENCE - First we drive to the French border and the Camargue. From here we continue our journey to Arles where we visit the grand Cathedral of St. Trophime and admire the Roman arena. Then head to Les Baux, France’s mysterious fortified, hilltop ghost town! Later, drive through Van Gogh’s St. Remy en route to Aix-en-Provence, for dinner and our overnight stay. (BB,D)

Days 7-10

Madrid / Barcelona - Today our Tour Director will reveal a special hidden treasure. But first we drive through the gorges of the Jalon River and continue past Calatayud. Journey via Zaragoza and vistas of the Montserrat on our approach to Barcelona for two nights. This evening, we enjoy a Highlight Dinner in a typical restaurant. (BB,HD)

Day 8

DAY 8 AIX-EN-PROVENCE / ST. TROPEZ / CANNES - An early start today as we drive along the highway to the coast at St. Tropez, where there’s time to watch for the rich and famous. Then cross the Mediterranean Sea by boat to Ste. Maxime, another elegant Riviera resort. A scenic drive brings us to Cannes where we see the Film Festival center and the Boulevard de la Croisette. This evening, try out one of the many restaurants and watch Cannes nightlife go by! (BB)

Day 9

DAY 9 CANNES AT LEISURE AND RIVIERA DRIVE TO NICE - This morning we drive along the beautiful coast through Antibes and Juan-les-Pins to Nice where our orientation tour shows us the broad Promenade des Anglais and the Place Massena. There is time to shop in the boutiques or to explore the fascinating old town before returning to Cannes. The rest of the day is at leisure to shop or simply relax. Later, why not take an excursion to visit the medieval hilltop village of St. Paul de Vence the renowned artists’ colony? (BB)

Day 10

DAY 10 CANNES / MONACO / PISA, ITALY / MONTECATINI - First, drive to the nearby Principality of Monaco to see the Palace of the Grimaldi’s and visit the cathedral where Princess Grace is buried. Cross the border with Italy at Ventimiglia and drive along the Italian Riviera of the Flowers. Continue past San Remo, Rapallo, Portofino and the quarries of Carrara to Pisa. Here we see its famous Leaning Tower and the cathedral in the Square of Miracles. There’s time to snap some photos and enjoy a cappuccino before a short drive brings us to the beautiful spa-resort of Montecatini in the Tuscan hills. (BB,D)

Days 11-15

Barcelona Sightseeing and at Leisure - Sightseeing with our local guide includes a walking tour of the Gothic Quarter with its impressive cathedral. DAY 12 MONTECATINI / ROME - Today we drive through the Chianti wineproducing region of Tuscany and the Umbrian Hills bringing us to Rome – the “Eternal City.” Your evening is at leisure in this remarkable city. (BB)

Day 13

DAY 13 ROME SIGHTSEEING AND AT LEISURE - Our sightseeing tour with the audio system includes a visit to St. Peter’s in the Vatican, and views of the Forum, Colosseum and Circus Maximus. Tonight we enjoy a Farewell Dinner with our Tour Director and traveling companions. (BB,FD)

Day 14

DAY 14 DEPART ROME - “Buon viaggio” to our touring friends and Tour Director as our vacation comes to an end. Airport transfers are available, conditions apply. (BB)

“Departure day” is considered the date Brendan services begin.
If the cancellation fees are less than the required deposit, the entire deposit amount applies as the cancellation fee. Cancellation charges apply to extra nights prior to and after the tour, cruise or safari. Flight changes after deposit has been received or flight cancellations after tickets are issued incur airline revision/cancellation fees. Air-inclusive tours, cruises or safaris cancelled after receipt of tickets will be processed after return of tickets to Brendan. Lost ticket replacement can take up to 1 year and processing fees will be assessed.
NOTE: Additional penalties may apply from certain hotels and service providers.
Additional fees will apply for any air tickets already issued.

If Brendan cancels a tour, cruise or safari, we will re-book passengers on the same tour, cruise or safari with a different departure date or a similar tour. All re-bookings are subject to availability. If that tour, cruise or safari is unacceptable, Brendan will refund all monies paid to Brendan by your travel agent; there is no additional liability. Brendan cannot assume responsibility for any additional costs or fees relating to the issuance and/or cancellation of air tickets or other travel arrangements not made through Brendan.

NON-REFUNDABLE AIR TICKETS
Many of our departures are not guaranteed. If you are purchasing a non-refundable air ticket, please make sure that your travel agent explains the difficulties associated with non-refundable airfares. Brendan cannot be held responsible for any change/cancellation penalties associated with these non-refundable airfares.

REFUNDS FOR UNUSED SERVICES
No refunds will be made for unused services once travel arrangements have commenced. Please note that employees of any domestic and/or overseas supplier are not authorized by Brendan to indicate or make refunds without respect to Brendan's stated Terms and Conditions.
