On this vacation, arrive in “The Big Apple” and venture northwest through the Pocono Mountains to upstate New York. Cross the border to the Canadian side of the Niagara River and spend two nights in beautiful Niagara Falls. Enjoy a sightseeing tour of Niagara Falls, and board the Maid of the Mist for a thrilling boat ride to view the thundering waterfalls from river level. During your free time in Niagara Falls, perhaps visit the Butterfly Conservatory, Great Gorge Adventure, or Botanical Gardens, or ride the aerial cable car. Next, travel southeast through the Appalachian Mountains to the City of Brotherly Love—Philadelphia. Explore the birthplace of American independence on your Philadelphia sightseeing tour before moving on to the U.S. capital, Washington DC. Washington DC is a sightseeing treasure-trove, and your tour highlights the well-known sights, such as Arlington National Cemetery and the Korean and Vietnam War Memorials. Your vacation ends with free time to explore Washington DC on your own before you head back to New York City for two nights and a tour of the city’s most popular sights.

Day-by-Day Itinerary

Day 1: NEW YORK.

Welcome to the “Big Apple!” Enjoy time at leisure to relax or to do some independent exploring. Your Tour Director is on hand this evening to answer any questions.

Day 2: NEW YORK CITY–CORNING–NIAGARA FALLS.

Depart Manhattan, heading northwest across New Jersey through the Pocono Mountains and into upstate New York, arriving in Corning at mid-day. Late this afternoon, cross the border at Rainbow Bridge and proceed to the Canadian side of the Niagara River in the province of Ontario. Spend the next two nights in beautiful Niagara Falls.

Day 3: NIAGARA FALLS

. On this morning’s sightseeing tour, behold the spectacular falls from Table Rock. Then, board the MAID OF THE MIST for amazing close-up views. Your afternoon is free, so why not hop aboard the “People Mover” (local transport) and visit attractions such as the Butterfly Conservatory, Great Gorge Adventure, Botanical Gardens, and Niagara Parks Greenhouse, or ride the aerial cable car. Tonight, join our optional fun-filled Canadian musical. This entertaining evening includes a 5-course dinner served family style.NOTE: The operation of the Maid of the Mist cruise is subject to favorable weather and/or river conditions. Day 4: NIAGARA FALLS–PHILADELPHIA.

Head southeast through the Appalachian Mountains and into the Susquehanna River Valley. Then, continue to the handsome city of Philadelphia for an overnight stay.

Day 5: PHILADELPHIA–WASHINGTON DC AREA.

The “City of Brotherly Love” is also the birthplace of American Independence and is steeped in history. Our morning orientation tour focuses on the city’s historic landmarks. Then, on to the U.S. capital and seat of government, Washington DC, for a 2-night stay. Later, join the optional outing, featuring dinner followed by a tour of the city’s most famous memorials.

Day 6: WASHINGTON DC AREA.

The nation’s capital is a sightseeing treasure trove, and your half-day tour with a Local Guide features ARLINGTON NATIONAL CEMETERY, the KOREAN & VIETNAM WAR VETERANS MEMORIALS, and other well-known sights. Stop for photos at the White House, the official residence of the President of the Unites States, and Capitol Hill. The afternoon is free. Your Tour Director will suggest independent activities for exploring this fascinating city.

Day 7: WASHINGTON DC AREA–NEW YORK CITY.

Check into the Hampton Inn Manhattan Chelsea for the next two nights.

Day 8: NEW YORK CITY.

A local expert takes you on a tour of the most popular sights: Times Square, Greenwich Village, Wall Street, and Chinatown. During your free time in Manhattan, take advantage of several optional activities, such as a helicopter flight over the “city that never sleeps,” a ride up to the 86th floor of the Empire State Building, or a Manhattan harbor cruise. Your Local Host can help arrange these and other excursions, as well as offer useful shopping and dining tips.

Day 9: NEW YORK CITY.

The trip ends today with guests departing on individual schedules. Airport transfers are provided to Kennedy, LaGuardia, or Newark International Airports.

About Cosmos

Well organized tours and good value for money. Cosmos is the budget version of Globus (they are owned by the same company). The difference would be that Cosmos would not have hotels in as central locations and they do not have as many things included in the price but rather offer those things as optionals at an extra charge.

Traveler profile

Generally younger age range than globus. Average age of passengers is in the 50s (vs. 60s for Globus). But all ages will go on the tours. Most passengers are American.

Group size

Maximum 50 people on a bus, buses are usually fully booked during peak season

Tour directors

Newly hired tour directors and those with less experience are usually assigned to these tours to increase their experience

Hotel type

Generally stay in 3-star hotels. Not all hotels will be centrally located (which helps Cosmos keep the price down)

Many excursions are 'extra' with Cosmos.

Free time

Cosmos tours usually bank in at least a few half days of free time (more if you choose not to go on the optional excursions)

CANCELLATIONS & CANCELLATION FEES:
If cancellation is received by Globus before the final payment date of your vacation, your non-refundable deposit and Travel Protection premiums will be retained in addition to any airline-imposed fees or penalties. For individual reservations, the following per person cancellation fees apply. Total price does not include discounts, promotions, or special incentives. * 45-22 days prior to commencement of services: 20% of total price plus Travel Protection premiums
* 21-8 days prior to commencement of services: 30% of total price plus Travel Protection premiums

* On departure day and later: 100% of total price plus Travel Protection premiums
