About this tour

Welcome to San Antonio, home of the infamous Alamo, where you spend four nights enjoying the city. Your San Antonio vacation begins with a city tour featuring the city’s historic sites and the Alamo, the most famous landmark in Texas—where Davy Crockett and Sam Houston died during the valiant attempt to hold off the Mexican army. Also, enjoy a cruise and time to explore San Antonio’s “River Walk,” an area with sidewalk cafés, shops, and restaurants. Spend the day being a cowboy at the Silver Spur Guest Ranch and take an excursion to Stonewell, where you learn about the life of Lyndon Johnson at the LBJ Ranch. Also visit a local vineyard for a tour and wine tasting. Your trip concludes with a farewell dinner, a perfect way to end a marvelous San Antonio escorted tour.

Day-by-Day Itinerary

Day 1: Arrive in San Antonio

. (Thu.) Welcome to San Antonio, a river city full of cultural heritage. At 6 pm, meet your traveling companions for a welcome drink. Your Tour Director will prepare you for your upcoming adventure.

Day 2: San Antonio

. (Fri.) San Antonio has always been a crossroads and a meeting place. This morning’s city tour features historic sites such as Market Square, Mission San Jose, and the ALAMO—the most famous landmark in Texas, where Davy Crockett and Sam Houston died during the valiant attempt to hold off the Mexican army. This afternoon there will be time to explore one of San Antonio’s jewels, the “River Walk,” stretching approximately two-and-a-half miles and peppered with sidewalk cafés, boutiques, and restaurants. This evening, enjoy a CRUISE along the River Walk before dinner at a local restaurant. (B,D)

Day 3: San Antonio. Day at a Dude Ranch

. (Sat.) Today, head to Bandera, “Cowboy Capital of the World,” and visit SILVER SPUR GUEST RANCH. Learn about life on the ranch from a Texas cowboy; take a hayride to feed the longhorn; and enjoy a trick roping performance and perhaps even try your hand at roping! For lunch, get your first taste of the delicious food served at the ranch—from Texas-style brisket, BBQ chicken and beef, chicken-fried steak, rope sausage, and all the fixins! (B,L)

Day 4: San Antonio. Excursion to Hill Country

. (Sun.) Journey to Stonewall, Texas, where you will learn about the life and legacy of the 36th president, Lyndon B. Johnson, on a tour of the Texas White House, also known as the LBJ RANCH. Next, visit BECKER VINEYARDS, one of the most respected winemakers in the area, for a tour and tasting of Texas’ vintages. Your final stop today is Luckenbach, made famous by Waylon Jennings and Willie Nelson. Time to explore this Western town and its 1849 General Store before returning to San Antonio. This evening your Tour Director hosts a special farewell dinner. Wonderful conversation and cuisine make the perfect finale for your vacation. (B,D)

Day 5: San Antonio

. (Mon.) The vacation ends today with guests departing on individual schedules. Airport transfers are provided. (B)

About Globus

Globus offers mid-range tours in popular destinations around the world. They use group rates to book services at a reasonable cost. They have a variety of tour options to fit any type traveler from single expert globetrotters to families.

Traveler profile

Most passengers are 40s-70s, especially catering to retired couples. Almost exclusively Americans.

Group size

Globus usually books a maximum of 52 passengers on their buses. There is seating for 55.

Tour directors

Bus drivers and tour guides are Globus employees but your tour will also include a few local guides. Globus tours guides are very experienced (minimum of 10 years experience before Globus will hire them) and often spend many years with the company.

Hotel type

Generally stay in centrally located 3 and 4 star hotels.

What's included

Most city tours included which include the most popular sites in each destination. Optional excursions, special dinners, etc. are extra. Some meals included and some of the meals include wine, etc.

Free time

Leisure time is built in to most destinations. Even more leisure time if you opt out of the extra excursions.

Booking Policy

CANCELLATIONS & CANCELLATION FEES:
If cancellation is received by Globus before the final payment date of your vacation, your non-refundable deposit and Travel Protection premiums will be retained in addition to any airline-imposed fees or penalties. For individual reservations, the following per person cancellation fees apply. Total price does not include discounts, promotions, or special incentives. STANDARD CANCELLATION FEES:

* 45-22 days prior to commencement of services: 20% of total price plus Travel Protection premiums
* 21-8 days prior to commencement of services: 30% of total price plus Travel Protection premiums
* 7-1 days prior to commencement of services: 50% of total price plus Travel Protection premiums
* On departure day and later: 100% of total price plus Travel Protection premiums
