Our nine-day excursion brings the glories of Alaska to you, with convenient and comfortable touring by train, motorcoach and boat. Don’t miss this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to experience the marvels of America’s rugged wilderness!

9 Days • 10 Meals

Day-by-Day Itinerary

Day 1: Big City Alaska

Our outdoor adventure starts and ends in Anchorage, Alaska’s largest city. Nestled between the Talkeetna and Chugach mountain ranges, Anchorage blends outdoor life with breathtaking scenic beauty. The city’s fantastic ambiance offers the perfect stepping-off point for our Alaskan adventure.

• Arrive in Anchorage with included transfers to your hotel
• Your Tour Manager will meet you at 6 p.m. for dining suggestions

Day 2: Denali Day 1: Iditarod Headquarters and Alaska Cabin Nite

Alaska is world-famous for its thrilling natural wonders, and we will witness more than a few during our exciting tour of this state’s unspoiled splendors.

Today you will visit the Iditarod Headquarters in the nearby town of Wasilla. Later, upon arrival in Denali, you will also sit back, relax and enjoy an evening of tall tales, fun songs, foot stompin’ music and an all-you-can-eat dinner at Alaska Cabin Nite.

• Breakfast at your hotel
• Iditarod Headquarters
• Travel to Denali National Park
• Enjoy dinner and a show at Alaska Cabin Nite

Day 3: Denali Day 2: Tundra Wilderness Tour

At the heart of our excursion is a guided tour of the gem of Alaska’s glorious wilderness, Denali National Park, where we spend two nights. Covering more than six million acres, Denali is a natural wonderland, teeming with sub-arctic wildlife and more than 650 species of flowering plants.

• Breakfast at your hotel
• Tundra Wilderness tour of Denali National Park

Day 4: Experience Mother Nature in All Her Glory!

Before departing for Fairbanks, you will have the option of getting a bird’s-eye view of the spectacular wilderness of Denali with a special “flightseeing” tour by helicopter.

We survey panoramic vistas of majestic forests and grassy tundra from the comfortable confines of the Alaska Railroad. You will glimpse the towering, 20,000-foot peak of Mount McKinley.

You may also enjoy a peaceful float on the park’s Nenana River. This blue, crystalline river issues from the Nenana Glacier far to the north, and is one of the most popular destinations for whitewater rafting in Alaska.

Welcome to t the delightful town of Fairbanks, the second largest city in the state! During our tour, we explore the city’s rollicking past as a bustling mining town and enjoy its first-class cultural amenities, including galleries, upscale stores, specialty boutiques, historic sites and museums.

• Breakfast at your hotel
• Optional helicopter ride
• Optional float trip on the Nenana River
• Ride the Alaska Railroad to Fairbanks

Day 5: A Celebration of History and Culture

Alaskan waterways will be our entry into the cultural heritage of this great state. Aboard the Riverboat Discovery, the only authentic sternwheeler in Alaska, enjoy a narrated cruise into Native American culture. This fascinating river tour includes a stop at the Chena Indian Village to get an intriguing glimpse into the culture and lifestyle of native Alaskans.

For a closer look at the life and times of the gold miner, take an optional tour of El Dorado Gold Camp. Experience the thrill of the prospector’s life as you ride a narrow-gauge rail into an authentic permafrost mining tunnel, and try your hand at gold panning with modern-day miners.

Bask in the ambiance of the hearty boomtown music hall as we enjoy live musical shows that capture the spirit of frontier Alaska, including the Golden Heart Revue, a rollicking showcase of Fairbanks’ prospecting past.

• Free time to explore Fairbanks
• Riverboat Discovery cruise
• Optional visit to El Dorado Gold Camp
• Salmon dinner and Golden Heart Revue show at the Palace Theater

Day 6: Worthington Glacier

Today there is a foray into the state’s prospecting past with a visit to Rika’s Roadhouse, a renowned gathering place for the traders, gold-miners and trappers of Alaska’s frontier.

We also explore the signature natural feature of Alaska’s spectacular landscape; an arctic glacier. Our tour includes a close-up look at Worthington Glacier, a massive floe of blue ice that covers nearly five square miles!

• Stop at Rika’s Roadhouse
• Visit Worthington Glacier

Day 7: Adventures on Alaska’s Waterways

Dive into the beautiful sights offered by Alaska’s many pristine lakes, wild rivers and placid channels.

Cruise through the glacier-carved fjords and passageways of Prince William Sound aboard the Glacier Spirit and catch a glimpse of sea lions lolling on the majestic shoreline. With its many twisting tributaries and sharply carved mountain peaks, it’s clear why the Sound and the surrounding area is called the “Switzerland of Alaska!”

This was our first bus tour and we enjoyed it very much. The tour director was very organized and knowledgeable and made the trip a real pleasure to be on. The tour went to a number of national park canyons that were amazing. And the train rides to the old mining towns were a trip back to the past. The scenery was absolutely incredible and the trip very relaxing. We made a lot of new friends and had a very positive experience with this trip.

Overall, the trip was great. I especially like the Dead Horse State Park, fantastic view. The Arches National Park was beyond anything I had imagined. The float trip on the Colorada was the least, simply because it was too calm.

Of the two train trips, I thought the Cumbres & Toltec was by far the better of the two. And the missions of Sante Fe was beautiful and spiritual. The best part of this trip to me was Mesa Verde!!! Absolutely amazing people. We had a very intelligent guide. He loved the history of these peolpe and that came across in his information, and I learned alot and was impressed with the beauty of the cliff homes. I would recommend this trip to anyone.

A little too much "free time." Would like to have had more structured tour with a broader itinerary. Also, more breakfasts should have been included and the restaurant used for our farewell dinner in Savannah should be replaced. We were rushed and treated like "cattle."

The Jeckyll Island part of the tour was the best part. Beautiful accommodations, first-class hotel and treatment by hotel personnel.

This was my second time for this tour. I thoroughly enjoyed it more this time as Sally Bell was exceptional as a tour guide--so knowledgeable--and Clay (our step-on guide) also is exceptional. Going to Bandalier was wonderful since we had to go through LosAlamo a sister lab to Fermilab where I once worked--Sally's knowledge about the geology of the area was wonderful--I learned a lot. This was a super tour!

Take clothes that layer comfortably. Early mornings to see the ascension of the balloons is quite cool almost cold. There is nothing the Best Western Grande left undone for the long distant traveler. Regardless of what you order to eat at a sit down restaurant or join others in a long line for a burrito the tab inc. tax is $10.00. BRING LOTS OF $. Had a wonderful time . Director was knowledgeable & did a super job keeping the herd happy.

This trip was an awesome experience- my first guided tour. I was a last minute sign up- spur of the moment decision and it was great. The bus driver and tour guide were both so gregarious and truly enjoy their work. The made the trip especially enjoyable. We had only one person who complained about anything everyone else went with the flow and had a blast. Thank you for a great experience. The cost was extremely reasonable and the service , rooms and meals were just lovely.

We had never been on a "bus tour" - so I was a bit skeptical at first ------ However, it was a WONDERFUL experience.....and we had probably the BEST TOUR GUIDE - Sally from Phoenix - exceptionally knowledgeable - and an excellent BUS DRIVER from Denver . Most of our meals, and most of our accommodations were good. We especially enjoyed the FLOAT TRIP and the day at the Grand Tetons.
