Day-by-Day Itinerary

Day 1

Welcome to New York City – the Big Apple! A complimentary transfer is provided to the tour hotel. Your Tour Director is at the hotel this afternoon to greet you and answer your questions. Join us at 6:00pm for a Welcome Drink at the hotel.

Day 2

We start the day with an orientation tour of New York City, viewing Battery Park, Times Square, the mighty Empire State Building and beautiful Central Park. Leaving the city, we travel south to Philadelphia for a visit to the award-winning National Constitution Center and the Liberty Bell Center, home of the Liberty Bell. We view Independence Hall where the Declaration of Independence was signed in 1776, before continuing to Washington DC, the nation’s capital. This evening we enjoy a Highlight Dinner at a local restaurant (Full breakfast / Highlight dinner)

Day 3

We are joined by a local guide who takes us on a sightseeing tour, viewing the Capitol, the White House and many of the capital’s landmark monuments and memorials. Stops are made at the Jefferson and Lincoln Memorials and the WWII and Vietnam Veterans Memorials. We then cross the Potomac to Arlington National Cemetery, the fi nal resting place of more than 300,000 people and site of the Tomb of the Unknowns and the Eternal Flame of the Kennedy grave. Here we learn about the history and traditions of Arlington on board a narrated Tourmobile. The afternoon is at leisure; perhaps visit one of the museums of the Smithsonian Institution or take a leisurely stroll and view the monuments up close. (Full breakfast)

Day 4

Today your Tour Director will reveal a Hidden Treasure! We head to the lands of the Amish and Mennonites and explore parts of Lancaster County where handmade crafts testify to their old-fashioned values. We pass some of the most productive farms in America, where crops have been grown the same way for the past two hundred years. We visit an Amish farm for a glimpse into a different way of life. This evening, meet with your Amish hosts, participate in a local baking tradition and enjoy a sumptuous Amish-style dinner. (Full breakfast / Be My Guest dinner)

Day 5

We’re off to Niagara Falls to experience this natural wonder. These famous waterfalls thunder and roar, forming one of the most photographed sights in the world. After crossing the border into Canada, we stop to view the falls from high above before checking in at our hotel overlooking both the Canadian and American falls. (Full breakfast / Dinner)

Day 6

Our highlight today is a cruise aboard the Maid of the Mist, which takes us through the churning waters past American and Bridal Veil Falls and into the dense mist of spray inside the curve of Horseshoe Falls. Later we travel across the Niagara Peninsula and stop at picturesque Niagara-on-the-Lake before continuing on to Toronto on the shores of Lake Ontario, one of the five Great Lakes. Day 7

Our sightseeing tour of Toronto includes Queen’s Park, the Harbourfront, views of Casa Loma and the Provincial Parliament Buildings. The afternoon is at leisure to explore this lively city. Tonight is free to discover Toronto’s restaurants or perhaps join a panoramic dinner cruise on the lake with magnificent views of Toronto’s skyline. (Full breakfast)

Day 8

We travel to Ottawa, Canada’s capital. Here our orientation tour introduces us to the sights of this charming city, including the Parliament Buildings, residences of the Prime Minister and the Governor General, galleries and museums. (Full breakfast)

Day 9

We make our way to Montreal, the largest French-speaking city outside of France, often called the “Paris of North America.” This evening we enjoy a Highlight Dinner at a charming restaurant in the heart of Old Montreal. (Full breakfast / Highlight dinner)

Day 10

We are taken on a sightseeing tour of Montreal with a local guide and discover the Old Port, Place Jacques-Cartier, the University of Montreal, Mount Royal and Notre-Dame Basilica. Later we journey along the beautiful St. Lawrence River to Quebec City, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and enjoy a two-night stay. (Full breakfast)

Day 11

We join a local guide and start exploring the city. Highlights include the Latin Quarter, “Vieux-Quebec,” the Place d’Armes, Dufferin Terrace, Plains of Abraham, Chateau Frontenac and the Citadel. The afternoon and evening are yours to do as you please. Explore further and stroll along the narrow streets, take a romantic caleche ride through the old city, or relax in one of Quebec’s sidewalk cafes. (Full breakfast)

Day 12

We travel south and cross back into the USA and the New England states. We stop in the beautiful White Mountains at New Hampshire’s Franconia Notch. As we make our way to Boston, take in the breathtaking scenery of the countryside. (Full breakfast)

Day 13

This morning’s sightseeing tour highlights the city’s landmarks and the famous Freedom Trail, where we hear about the struggle of the American colonists and their courageous actions. The afternoon is at leisure. Perhaps take a walk through Boston Common, visit the Bull and Finch Pub of the TV series Cheers fame, or join our optional excursion to the historic campus of Harvard University. This evening join us for our Farewell Dinner. (Full breakfast / Farewell dinner)

Day 14

We depart Boston and stop at the historic colonial city of Newport, Rhode Island. Our orientation tour includes the restored streets of this 18th century seaport and the stunning Ocean Drive, lined with the Gilded Age mansions of America’s wealthiest families. There is time to explore this fascinating town before returning to New York. A complimentary transfer is provided to New York JFK International Airport and the tour hotel in New York for passengers extending their stay. (Full breakfast)

Booking Policy

Booking Changes:


A fee of US$30 per person (per change) will be charged in addition to any airline fees for any revision or alteration made to a reservation after the booking is confirmed. Any alterations will risk the loss of air space or increased airfares. Name changes or corrections will be treated as a cancellation of air and all normal air cancellation fees will apply. A change of tour date or tour itinerary within 90 days (River Cruises & China), 80 days (Tour & Cruise), 50 days (Tour & Train) or 45 days (Tour Only) prior to tour departure will be treated as a cancellation, and normal cancellation fees will apply.

Cancellations and Cancellation Fees:

If you cancel more than 90 days prior to a River Cruise or China departure, 80 days prior to a Tour & Cruise departure, 50 days prior to a Tour & Train departure or 45 days prior to a Tour Only departure, a cancellation fee equal to your deposit paid will be charged (including the Travel Protection Plan¡¯s insurance premium if applicable, see Trafalgar¡¯s brochure) will not be refunded, nor can it be credited to any other booking.

Notice of cancellation must be made in writing either directly to Trafalgar or through your Travel Agent.

The following scale of charges will apply when notice of cancellation for River Cruise, Tour & Cruise, Tour and Train and Tour Only is given prior to tour departure.

Extra night hotel accommodation that is cancelled within 14 days of the booked date incurs a 100% cancellation fee. When accommodation is cancelled outside 14 days, the cancellation fees are:
Over 45 days: US$30 per person
45 - 22 days: 25%
21 - 15 days: 30%

Airline arrangements: The following cancellation charges apply for airline arrangements made by Trafalgar Tours:
Prior to Airline Ticketing service fee $50.00 per person.
After Airline Ticketing service fee $75.00 per person plus any airline imposed penalties which may be up to 100% of the air ticket value.

Airline special requests, availability and gateways: Seat assignment and special meal requests can be requested at time of booking. Trafalgar cannot guarantee confirmation of preferences. Frequent Flyer miles can be accrued on most air carriers but upgrades using mileage is not permitted. Note that not all airlines automatically provide pre-reserved seats, add frequent flyer numbers to records or apply frequent flyer bonus upgrades to flights booked and ticketed by Trafalgar unless they are informed by your Travel Agent.
Seats are limited and not available on every flight. If Trafalgar is unable to confirm your air reservation in its scheduled class of service, we may offer an alternative of either connecting flights, substitute gateways or a more expensive booking category. Any air surcharges will be at the passenger¡¯s expense. You will be advised of these conditions at the time of booking.
For alternative routing, specific air travel or other special requirements, we recommend your Travel Agent reserves your flights directly with the airline of your choice. Trafalgar reserves the right to choose the air carrier, routing and gateway airport and you should be advised that flight schedules in force at that time may require you make alternative connections or stops en route to your destination. Trafalgar does not hold block space on any airline and does not guarantee air availability for every single tour departure date. You should be advised that due to demand during peak travel times, there may not be availability in popular gateway cities. Passengers originating from different gateway cities and sharing a room or traveling with other passengers, may not be confirmed on the same airline or routing.

Refunds and Penalties:

Illness or Absenteeism: In the event of your withdrawal from a tour after commencement for reasons of illness, you must obtain a medical certificate in support of any insurance claim. We regret that no refunds can be made for absences from a tour, including but not limited to missed meals or sightseeing. Trafalgar makes no representation or guarantees concerning reimbursements of funds paid by you under any insurance claim.

Airfares: No refund will be made for cancelled air tickets on air inclusive bookings until tickets are returned to Trafalgar. Refunds for tour portion will only be processed after return of documents to Trafalgar. Please ensure that returned tour documents which contain airline tickets are sent by certified or registered mail. Lost ticket replacement can take up to 1 year and processing fees can be assessed.

If a promotional airfare is broken or extended for any reason, an additional cost may be incurred. Airfares are subject to change at any time. Changes to flight itineraries and name changes may result in penalties charged by Trafalgar and/or the airline concerned passed on to the passenger. Promotionally priced bookings may be subject to additional cancellation or change fees; please refer to specific promotion terms, conditions and restrictions.
