Airport Transfers London Gateways: Important – Please Note: For included transfers: Your flights must be booked directly by Trafalgar no fewer than 21 days prior to departure. For chargeable transfers: Your Travel Agent provides detailed flight information to Trafalgar no fewer than 21 days prior to departure. Once transfers are booked they cannot be changed.
For London arrivals, you must stay at a London hotel booked by Trafalgar on the night of arrival and the night prior to your departure date.
Trafalgar only includes one inbound and one outbound transfer.
In the event of flight delays outside of Trafalgar’s control, the transfers will be deemed to be cancelled.
All transfers are based on group transfers. No refund is therefore available for missed transfers, or passengers not using this service.
In the event of unforeseen events (such as road or rail works, strikes or demonstrations), Trafalgar will not be responsible for delayed or cancelled transfers.
Heathrow Airport: Gatwick Airport European Gateways: Trafalgar Bonus - Passengers who book Trafalgar's Land+Air package and who arrive or depart outside of these specified times on the scheduled arrival and departure day of the tour will also be provided with a transfer.
Passengers arriving before or leaving after the scheduled tour days are not entitled to a transfer but may book and purchase one through Trafalgar providing that they also purchase the additional pre and/or post tour hotel night(s) from Trafalgar. Please ask for prices of transfers at the time of booking your extra night accommodation.
Land only passengers arriving or departing on the scheduled tour arrival or departure days but whose flights don't coincide with the listed transfer times below may also book and purchase these transfers. Flight details must be provided to Trafalgar not less than 21 days before the flight departure.

Welcome to London! 

Hotel: Park Plaza County Hall (2 nights)

Day 3

On our first full day in London many major sights are included in our morning sightseeing tour including Buckingham Palace and Westminster Abbey. The remainder of the day is at leisure to explore this vibrant city. (Buffet breakfast)

Day 4

A warm welcome from our Tour Director as we drive to Dover for our short sea crossing to Calais in France. Over the border we drive through the Belgian countryside to medieval Bruges where we can walk along the cobbled streets beside the peaceful canals. Then on to Brussels where orientation includes the Atomium, the Royal Palaces and a walk to see the Manneken Pis. Later we enjoy a Welcome Drink with our Tour Director and travelling companions. (continental breakfast)

Day 5

Our first stop today is at Cologne to see its gothic cathedral. Then we travel via Bonn, Beethoven's birthplace, to Boppard for a relaxing Rhine cruise. We will disembark in St. Goar and continue on by coach to view Heidelberg Castle before arriving at our Rhineland hotel for the night. (Buffet breakfast / Dinner)

Day 6

This morning after breakfast, we drive through the Black Forest to admire the mighty Rhine Falls at Schaffhausen. Then we continue into Switzerland, and soon arrive at lakeside Lucerne. After dinner in our hotel, why not sample the fun of an optional Swiss folklore evening? (Buffet breakfast / Dinner)

Day 7

Our orientation tour shows us the Lion Monument and the old town walls and our Tour Director shows us a Hidden Treasure as well! Later, enjoy awesome scenery as we head into Italy and via Milan to magical Venice. (Buffet breakfast / Dinner)

Day 8

This morning relax and take in the sights of this city on an included canal cruise by private motor launch to St. Mark's Square, where we view the Bridge of Sighs and the Doge’s Palace before witnessing a demonstration of the ancient art of glass-blowing. Later, we cross the fertile Po Valley to Bologna and join the Autostrada del Sole across the Apennine Mountains to Rome, the Eternal City, for our two-night stay. (Buffet breakfast)

Day 9

After breakfast our day begins with a guided tour which includes our excellent audio system and local guide. We visit St. Peter's Basilica in the Vatican, which includes the moving Pieta of Michelangelo and St. Peter's Square. Then we cross the Tiber to overlook the Forum and the mighty Colosseum and to see the Circus Maximus, scene of ‘Ben Hur’ style chariot races. Later, enjoy time at leisure to do as you please, you may wish to shop, relax with a cappuccino at a pavement café or visit the Sistine Chapel and the catacombs. (Buffet Breakfast)

Day 10

This morning we travel through the hill towns of Umbria and the Chianti wine-producing region of Tuscany to Florence, cradle of the Renaissance. On our arrival a walking tour, with a special audio system and a local guide, will include the cathedral, baptistery, Signoria Square and a visit to the Santa Croce Basilica. The area around this basilica is now the centre of the Italian luxury goods trade. You'll have time to shop here before dinner at the hotel this evening. (Buffet breakfast / Dinner)

Day 11

Our first stop this morning is at Pisa to see its intriguing Leaning Tower. From here we continue past the marble quarries of Carrara and along the Motorway of Flowers, via Genoa, birthplace of Christopher Columbus, to the French border. Soon after we visit the Principality of Monaco where we see the Monte Carlo casinos. Then onto Nice, capital of the spectacular French Riviera, and we enjoy a Highlight Dinner in a local restaurant this evening. (Buffet breakfast / Highlight Dinner)

Day 12

This morning after breakfast enjoy a full day at leisure to savour the relaxed ambience of the Côte d'Azur. Why not lounge on the beach, enjoy a stroll along the elegant Promenade des Anglais, shop in the boutiques or visit medieval St. Paul de Vence? (Buffet breakfast)

Day 13

After breakast today a scenic drive takes us through Provence to Lyon, where we board our rapid and supremely comfortable TGV train. The journey will take us through Burgundy's fertile vineyards to the fascinating city of Paris, where we spend the next two nights. This evening the chance to enjoy one of the world famous Parisian cabaret shows! (Buffet breakfast) 

Hotel: Pullman Paris Rive Gauche (2 nights)

Day 14

First with a local guide we drive from the Place de la Concorde along the Champs Élysées to the Arc de Triomphe and then ascend to the second level of the Eiffel Tower by elevator for amazing views over the city. Next we enjoy views of Notre Dame Cathedral and the Pont Alexandre III. Our Tour Director reveals another Hidden Treasure to us today. Afterwards, there's time on your own to perhaps shop for next year's fashions, or relax and watch the world go by in one of the chic pavement cafés. On your last night, enjoy a Farewell Dinner with your Tour Director and new-found friends. (Buffet Breakfast / Farewell Dinner)

Day 15

This morning we bid farewell to Paris as our tour comes to an end. (Buffet breakfast)

Day 16

Return transfer from the last hotel will arrive at Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport at 08.00.

About Trafalgar Tours

Trafalgar offers tours targeted to the middle class and offers less expensive hotels in more suburban areas vs. city centers. You'll still get to see the key sites while remaining on a budget.

Traveler profile

Most passengers are 50+, especially catering to retired couples. Their Breakaway tours generally cater to 21-38 year olds.

Group size

Maximum 55 people on a bus.

Tour directors

Less experienced tour guides are generally assigned to these tours to help them increase their experience.

Hotel type

Hotels are comfortable but less centrally located than tours by Globus or Insight.

What's included

Most basic city tours included. There are optionals including more in depth tours as well as special dinners, etc. are extra.

Free time

There is more bus time on these tours than on higher end ones, so there is less free time, but you can maximize your leisure time by skipping some of the optional trips.

Booking Policy

Booking Changes:


A fee of US$30 per person (per change) will be charged in addition to any airline fees for any revision or alteration made to a reservation after the booking is confirmed. Any alterations will risk the loss of air space or increased airfares. Name changes or corrections will be treated as a cancellation of air and all normal air cancellation fees will apply. A change of tour date or tour itinerary within 90 days (River Cruises & China), 80 days (Tour & Cruise), 50 days (Tour & Train) or 45 days (Tour Only) prior to tour departure will be treated as a cancellation, and normal cancellation fees will apply.

Cancellations and Cancellation Fees:

If you cancel more than 90 days prior to a River Cruise or China departure, 80 days prior to a Tour & Cruise departure, 50 days prior to a Tour & Train departure or 45 days prior to a Tour Only departure, a cancellation fee equal to your deposit paid will be charged (including the Travel Protection Plan¡¯s insurance premium if applicable, see Trafalgar¡¯s brochure) will not be refunded, nor can it be credited to any other booking.

Notice of cancellation must be made in writing either directly to Trafalgar or through your Travel Agent.

The following scale of charges will apply when notice of cancellation for River Cruise, Tour & Cruise, Tour and Train and Tour Only is given prior to tour departure.

Extra night hotel accommodation that is cancelled within 14 days of the booked date incurs a 100% cancellation fee. When accommodation is cancelled outside 14 days, the cancellation fees are:
Over 45 days: US$30 per person
45 - 22 days: 25%
21 - 15 days: 30%

Airline arrangements: The following cancellation charges apply for airline arrangements made by Trafalgar Tours:
Prior to Airline Ticketing service fee $50.00 per person.
After Airline Ticketing service fee $75.00 per person plus any airline imposed penalties which may be up to 100% of the air ticket value.

Airline special requests, availability and gateways: Seat assignment and special meal requests can be requested at time of booking. Trafalgar cannot guarantee confirmation of preferences. Frequent Flyer miles can be accrued on most air carriers but upgrades using mileage is not permitted. Note that not all airlines automatically provide pre-reserved seats, add frequent flyer numbers to records or apply frequent flyer bonus upgrades to flights booked and ticketed by Trafalgar unless they are informed by your Travel Agent.
Seats are limited and not available on every flight. If Trafalgar is unable to confirm your air reservation in its scheduled class of service, we may offer an alternative of either connecting flights, substitute gateways or a more expensive booking category. Any air surcharges will be at the passenger¡¯s expense. You will be advised of these conditions at the time of booking.
For alternative routing, specific air travel or other special requirements, we recommend your Travel Agent reserves your flights directly with the airline of your choice. Trafalgar reserves the right to choose the air carrier, routing and gateway airport and you should be advised that flight schedules in force at that time may require you make alternative connections or stops en route to your destination. Trafalgar does not hold block space on any airline and does not guarantee air availability for every single tour departure date. You should be advised that due to demand during peak travel times, there may not be availability in popular gateway cities. Passengers originating from different gateway cities and sharing a room or traveling with other passengers, may not be confirmed on the same airline or routing.

Refunds and Penalties:

Illness or Absenteeism: In the event of your withdrawal from a tour after commencement for reasons of illness, you must obtain a medical certificate in support of any insurance claim. We regret that no refunds can be made for absences from a tour, including but not limited to missed meals or sightseeing. Trafalgar makes no representation or guarantees concerning reimbursements of funds paid by you under any insurance claim.

Airfares: No refund will be made for cancelled air tickets on air inclusive bookings until tickets are returned to Trafalgar. Refunds for tour portion will only be processed after return of documents to Trafalgar. Please ensure that returned tour documents which contain airline tickets are sent by certified or registered mail. Lost ticket replacement can take up to 1 year and processing fees can be assessed.

If a promotional airfare is broken or extended for any reason, an additional cost may be incurred. Airfares are subject to change at any time. Changes to flight itineraries and name changes may result in penalties charged by Trafalgar and/or the airline concerned passed on to the passenger. Promotionally priced bookings may be subject to additional cancellation or change fees; please refer to specific promotion terms, conditions and restrictions.
