Airport Transfers London Gateways: Important – Please Note: For included transfers: Your flights must be booked directly by Trafalgar no fewer than 21 days prior to departure. For chargeable transfers: Your Travel Agent provides detailed flight information to Trafalgar no fewer than 21 days prior to departure. Once transfers are booked they cannot be changed.
For London arrivals, you must stay at a London hotel booked by Trafalgar on the night of arrival and the night prior to your departure date.
Trafalgar only includes one inbound and one outbound transfer.
In the event of flight delays outside of Trafalgar’s control, the transfers will be deemed to be cancelled.
All transfers are based on group transfers. No refund is therefore available for missed transfers, or passengers not using this service.
In the event of unforeseen events (such as road or rail works, strikes or demonstrations), Trafalgar will not be responsible for delayed or cancelled transfers.
Heathrow Airport: Gatwick Airport: European Gateways: Trafalgar Bonus - Passengers who book Trafalgar's Land+Air package and who arrive or depart outside of these specified times on the scheduled arrival and departure day of the tour will also be provided with a transfer.
Passengers arriving before or leaving after the scheduled tour days are not entitled to a transfer but may book and purchase one through Trafalgar providing that they also purchase the additional pre and/or post tour hotel night(s) from Trafalgar. Please ask for prices of transfers at the time of booking your extra night accommodation.
Land only passengers arriving or departing on the scheduled tour arrival or departure days but whose flights don't coincide with the listed transfer times below may also book and purchase these transfers. Flight details must be provided to Trafalgar not less than 21 days before the flight departure.

Day 1

Overnight flight to Rome.

Day 2

Greetings from Trafalgar and a warm welcome to Rome, the Eternal City. After check-in at your
hotel, you will have time to relax and unwind before meeting with your Tour Director in the afternoon. This evening why not take a stroll around this fascinating city and admire the fountains found in every square and on many corners of the city streets.

Day 3

We have an included sightseeing tour with a local guide this morning who introduces us to this ancient city. The highlight of the tour is the visit to the awe-inspiring St. Peter’s Basilica in the Vatican City. Then we cross the Tiber River to enjoy views of the Forum and the iconic Colosseum, the scene of gladiatorial combat in ancient Rome. Later we have time at leisure to explore the city further or maybe to take an optional excursion to see the catacombs, the underground burial places of the early Christians, or maybe to drive out of Rome to visit the splendid Tivoli Gardens with their unique and ornate fountains. (Buffet breakfast)

Day 4

Today we head past the Abbey of Monte Cassino to the Bay of Naples for two relaxing nights. This afternoon, why not take an optional excursion to see the excavations of Pompeii, the town literally petrified by the eruption of the volcano, Vesuvius, in AD 79? (Buffet breakfast / Dinner)

Day 5

This morning we drive to the nearby resort of Sorrento to visit an inlaid wood workshop. Then free time to shop on the Piazza Tasso before maybe taking an optional excursion to the enchanting Isle of Capri. This former summer home of Roman emperors is alive with color and character. This evening we return to our hotel for dinner. (Buffet breakfast / Dinner)

Day 6

Today we drive north to Umbria and the mystic city of St. Francis, Assisi, which lies on the slopes of Mount Subasio. On arrival an orientation tour includes St. Francis Basilica, renowned for its fresco paintings. Dinner is at our hotel. (Buffet breakfast / Dinner)

Day 7

This morning we enjoy a scenic drive through the Apennine Mountains and descend to the
flat Venetian plain. From here we continue on to the magical floating city of Venice. (Buffet breakfast / Dinner)

Day 8

Savor the sights and sounds of this serene city as we take our canal cruise by vaporetto to St. Mark’s Square with views of the Bridge of Sighs, the Doge’s Palace and the Basilica of St. Mark. We will watch a demonstration of Murano glass-blowing before time at leisure or maybe take a trip out into the lagoon for a seafood lunch on the Island of Burano? (Buffet breakfast / Dinner)

Day 9

This morning’s drive takes us inland to Shakespeare’s Verona. Here we stop to admire the Roman Arena and see Juliet’s balcony. Finally we travel via Milan to the Italian Lake District. (Buffet breakfast / Dinner)

Day 10

After breakfast we head out on an excursion into Switzerland and the pretty resort of Lugano. There’s time here to perhaps stroll along the lakeside promenades, pedalo on the lake and enjoy the wonderful mountain air, before we return to our hotel. (Buffet breakfast / Dinner)

Day 11

We cross the Apennine Mountains passing by Genoa, Columbus’ birthplace. From here we make our way to Pisa where we see the famous Leaning Tower in the Square of Miracles. Then on to our hotel in Florence. Later you may wish to enjoy a wonderful dinner in the Chianti hills – barbecue style! (Buffet breakfast)

Day 12

Florence was one of the liveliest and most creative cities in Europe, so today’s visitor can see some of the world’s greatest works of art and most magnificent buildings here. We enjoy a sightseeing tour on foot this morning to see the marble cathedral, Signoria Square, Santa Croce Basilica and the baptistery. Afterwards there’s time to discover the artistic works of Donatello or Michelangelo, and shop for quality leather and gold. (Buffet breakfast / Dinner)

Day 13

This morning we drive to nearby Siena, through the Chianti-wine producing area of Tuscany. Orientation of this medieval city famous for its Palio Horse Race, reveals its rich artistic heritage. Then we make our way back to Rome for our final night – don’t forget to throw a coin into the Trevi fountain to ensure that you will return one day! (Buffet breakfast)

Day 14

This morning it is time to say ‘arrivederci Italia’ and to bid farewell to our Tour Director and new-found friends as our Italian tour comes to an end and we return home with wonderful memories. There are transfers available to Rome Fiumicino Airport, conditions apply. (Buffet breakfast)

Day 15

This tour visits Switzerland for a short period. Visas may be required for this tour. Please speak with your travel agent at time of booking to assess your specific requirements.

About Trafalgar Tours

There is more bus time on these tours than on higher end ones, so there is less free time, but you can maximize your leisure time by skipping some of the optional trips.

Booking Policy

Booking Changes:


A fee of US$30 per person (per change) will be charged in addition to any airline fees for any revision or alteration made to a reservation after the booking is confirmed. Any alterations will risk the loss of air space or increased airfares. Name changes or corrections will be treated as a cancellation of air and all normal air cancellation fees will apply. A change of tour date or tour itinerary within 90 days (River Cruises & China), 80 days (Tour & Cruise), 50 days (Tour & Train) or 45 days (Tour Only) prior to tour departure will be treated as a cancellation, and normal cancellation fees will apply.

Cancellations and Cancellation Fees:

If you cancel more than 90 days prior to a River Cruise or China departure, 80 days prior to a Tour & Cruise departure, 50 days prior to a Tour & Train departure or 45 days prior to a Tour Only departure, a cancellation fee equal to your deposit paid will be charged (including the Travel Protection Plan¡¯s insurance premium if applicable, see Trafalgar¡¯s brochure) will not be refunded, nor can it be credited to any other booking.

Notice of cancellation must be made in writing either directly to Trafalgar or through your Travel Agent.

The following scale of charges will apply when notice of cancellation for River Cruise, Tour & Cruise, Tour and Train and Tour Only is given prior to tour departure.

Extra night hotel accommodation that is cancelled within 14 days of the booked date incurs a 100% cancellation fee. When accommodation is cancelled outside 14 days, the cancellation fees are:
Over 45 days: US$30 per person
45 - 22 days: 25%
21 - 15 days: 30%

Airline arrangements: The following cancellation charges apply for airline arrangements made by Trafalgar Tours:
Prior to Airline Ticketing service fee $50.00 per person.
After Airline Ticketing service fee $75.00 per person plus any airline imposed penalties which may be up to 100% of the air ticket value.

Airline special requests, availability and gateways: Seat assignment and special meal requests can be requested at time of booking. Trafalgar cannot guarantee confirmation of preferences. Frequent Flyer miles can be accrued on most air carriers but upgrades using mileage is not permitted. Note that not all airlines automatically provide pre-reserved seats, add frequent flyer numbers to records or apply frequent flyer bonus upgrades to flights booked and ticketed by Trafalgar unless they are informed by your Travel Agent.
Seats are limited and not available on every flight. If Trafalgar is unable to confirm your air reservation in its scheduled class of service, we may offer an alternative of either connecting flights, substitute gateways or a more expensive booking category. Any air surcharges will be at the passenger¡¯s expense. You will be advised of these conditions at the time of booking.
For alternative routing, specific air travel or other special requirements, we recommend your Travel Agent reserves your flights directly with the airline of your choice. Trafalgar reserves the right to choose the air carrier, routing and gateway airport and you should be advised that flight schedules in force at that time may require you make alternative connections or stops en route to your destination. Trafalgar does not hold block space on any airline and does not guarantee air availability for every single tour departure date. You should be advised that due to demand during peak travel times, there may not be availability in popular gateway cities. Passengers originating from different gateway cities and sharing a room or traveling with other passengers, may not be confirmed on the same airline or routing.

Refunds and Penalties:

Illness or Absenteeism: In the event of your withdrawal from a tour after commencement for reasons of illness, you must obtain a medical certificate in support of any insurance claim. We regret that no refunds can be made for absences from a tour, including but not limited to missed meals or sightseeing. Trafalgar makes no representation or guarantees concerning reimbursements of funds paid by you under any insurance claim.

Airfares: No refund will be made for cancelled air tickets on air inclusive bookings until tickets are returned to Trafalgar. Refunds for tour portion will only be processed after return of documents to Trafalgar. Please ensure that returned tour documents which contain airline tickets are sent by certified or registered mail. Lost ticket replacement can take up to 1 year and processing fees can be assessed.

If a promotional airfare is broken or extended for any reason, an additional cost may be incurred. Airfares are subject to change at any time. Changes to flight itineraries and name changes may result in penalties charged by Trafalgar and/or the airline concerned passed on to the passenger. Promotionally priced bookings may be subject to additional cancellation or change fees; please refer to specific promotion terms, conditions and restrictions.
