    Day 1: Thu: New York / Delhi

    Embark on your fabulous India journey on an evening flight aboard Air India to Delhi.

    Day 2: Fri: Arrive Delhi

    Upon arrival in Delhi, you will enjoy a traditional Indian welcome by your greeting staff and will be taken to the luxe Taj Palace hotel.

    Day 3: Sat: Delhi

    Rise fresh on your first morning in India and prepare for a full day of sightseeing in India’s capital. In the morning, visit the Red for, Ashoka Pillar, and Raj Ghat before immersing yourself in Indian culture at the sprawling Chandni Chowk Bazaar. Fuel up at lunch because in the afternoon your Delhi sightseeing tour continues with visits to the Birla Temple, Qutab Minar, and Humayun’s tomb, as well as a drive along Rajpath where you’ll see the Parliament, President’s house and the India Gate. Celebrate the beginning of a spectacular tour of India at a Welcome Dinner with our fellow travelers. (BD)

    Day 4: Sun: Delhi / Varanasi-Sarnath

    This morning you will depart Delhi and fly to India’s holiest city, Varanasi, which is idyllically situated along the Ganges River. Here you will have the opportunity to learn more about Buddha’s earliest days and visit the site of his first sermon at Sarnath, before relaxing at the Taj Ganges Hotel where you’ll spend the night.     Day 5: Mon: Varanasi / Khajuraho

    Get your cameras ready for the early morning sunrise boat tour along the Ganges, where you’re sure to capture photos that will inspire and relax you for years to come. But pack comfortable shoes as following the boat ride you’ll have the opportunity to explore the old city on foot before catching a flight to Khajuraho, capital of the Chandela Dynasty (9th to 13th centuries). Witness Chandela art at its finest when you visit the Kandariya Mahadev, the most stunning temple in the Western group of temples. Tonight, reflect on your day and review your photos at the Taj Chandela Hotel. (B)

    Day 6: Tue: Khajuraho /Agra

    Today you’ll explore a different style of temple as you explore the Eastern group of temples, a more restrained, simple style reflective of Jainism. This afternoon enjoy a railway tour of India as you travel to Agra via Orcha, the perfectly preserved medieval city that gives a glimpse into life in the 17th century. As you arrive in Agra, you will be escorted to the Taj Gateway Hotel. (B)

    Day 7: Wed: Agra / Fatehpur Sikri

    This morning’s excursion to Fatehpur Sikri, an abandoned 16th century city, will be the perfect activity to get you in the mood for this afternoon’s city tour of Agra and evening visit to the Taj Mahal, Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan’s tribute to his beloved wife Mumtaz Mahal. (B)

    Day 8: Thu: Agra / Jaipur

    Rise early this morning to capture a stunning view of the Taj Mahal at sunrise before enjoying breakfast and seamless travels to Jaipur, where you’ll spend the afternoon at leisure and enjoy the excellent service and amenities at the Taj Jaimahal Palace Hotel in a luxury room. (B)

    Day 9: Fri: Amber Fort Excursion & Jaipur Sightseeing

    This morning enjoy the once in a lifetime experience of riding atop an exquisitely painting and decorated Indian elephant up to the mountaintop Amber Fort. Once you’ve explored the fort and said goodbye to your regal four-legged companion, return to Jaipur City where you and your local, English-speaking guide will visit the ancient observatory and the Palace of the Winds, the Hawa Mahal.     Day 10: Sat: Jaipur/Mumbai (Bombay)

    This morning you will travel to your final destination in the magical country of India, Mumbai (formerly known as Bombay). Today’s sightseeing includes the Malabar Hills, one of the richest areas in India, as well as the Gateway of India arch, the Hanging Gardens, the Jain Temple, the Gandhi Memorial museum, Dhobi Ghat, the Prince of Wales Museum, and Marine Drive. After this flurry of sightseeing, relax and freshen up at the Taj Lands End Hotel and enjoy one last delicious Indian meal before departing to the international airport for an overnight return to New York.     Day 1: Depart USA

    Depart the USA cross the international dateline.

    Day 2: Arrive Delhi

    Arrive at Delhi's International Airport. Welcome to India! You are met by your guide in the arrival area of the airport after you clear all immigration and customs. Transfer is provided to your hotel.

    Day 3: Delhi - B, L

    Greet the morning in what is the world largest and most vibrant democracy. As you embark on your journey through this land you will experience the sights and sounds of what is India. Your guide is at your service to bring you face-to-face with the many faces of this vast land.

    Delhi stands as the capital of Modern India. Here you can see the mingling of the Old and New India, the ancient and the modern. Delhi is made up of seven ancient cities, spanning the period from the 11th to 20th centuries. Delhi has seen the rise and fall of many emperors, which has left behind a plethora of monuments that commemorate the grandeur and glory of bygone ages.

    This morning after breakfast proceed on half day tour of Old Delhi. Old Delhi was an ancient walled city. Mughal Emperor Shah Jehan in 1650 switched the Mughal capital from Agra to Delhi. Shah Jehan possessing an exquisite talent, esp. in architecture, created the seventh city and in the process brought about Delhi's glorious renaissance. Here you will see Red Fort the most opulent Fort and Palace of the Mughal Empire. The fort is Shah Jehan's symbol of power and elegance, built behind red sandstone walls. Its main gate (Lahore Gate) faces Chandni Chowk, the perpetually congested avenue heading west from the Red Fort is filled with twisting lanes, small streets and crowded bazaars. Also visit Raj Ghat, the memorial site of the Mahatma Gandhi; Jama Masjid, the largest mosque in India; and Chandni Chowk, the bustling and colourful market of the old city. Chandni Chowk was the commercial centre of Delhi in the old time and you will see it come alive in the morning as the trading day starts.

    A special treat awaits you - take a ride through this busy market on tricycle rickshaws .

    After lunch proceed for the tour of New Delhi. New Delhi was designed and built by the British in the 1920's - it's a city of wide boulevards impressive Government buildings, green parks and gardens. In 1911 King George V announced the transfer of the capital from Calcutta to Delhi. The King's architects, Lutyens and Baker, set in motion the design and construction of Delhi's eight city - New Delhi. Lutyens designed an "Imperial City" having palatial-sized buildings set amid broad tree-lined avenues punctuated by Mughal style gardens, complete with fountains and shallow pools. It took 20 years to complete this immense undertaking only to have the British pack up and relinquish the subcontinent in 1947. You will visit two monuments from Delhi's past - Humayun's Tomb and Qutub Minar. Your drive takes you along the ceremonial avenue, Rajpath, past the imposing India Gate and Parliament House. Also visit a local temple.

    Day 4: Delhi / Samode - B, L

    After breakfast drive to Samode.

    Day 5: Samode / Jaipur - B, L

    After breakfast drive to Jaipur. Visit the city Palace Museum where you can see an imposing blend of traditional Rajasthani and Mughal Art. The museum is resplendent with its collection of robes of royal princes, carpets, an armoury of old weapons, miniature paintings portraying court scenes, battle scenes and processions.

    Day 6: Jaipur - B, L

    Known as the “Pink City”, Jaipur is the capital of the colorful state of Rajasthan. It has the distinction of being a well planned and laid out city. As you drive through the old part of town, you will witness a life most unlike others. Witness how the city blooms druing the day in a kaledioscope of color and sound.

    After breakfast proceed for Amber fort excursion. Amber Fort is a marvellous example of Rajput architecture with its terraces and ramparts reflected in the Maota Lake below. Go up the fort in a jeep. The interiors of the fort have various royal halls decorated with intricate ivory, mirror and glass work complemented by exquisite wall paintings. As you move between the rooms of this magnificent structure feel the history and visualise the pomp and grandeur of a kingdom never conquered. Return for lunch. Afternoon at leisure.

    Elephant Safari at Nahargarh (Jaipur)

    Nahargarh is a splendid fort located in Jaipur. Nahargarh Fort is among one of the three forts built by Maharaja Jai Sawai Singh. He was the ruler of Jaipur. Some parts of the forts were ruined with the going time. But still it provides an attraction in terms of stunning views of ancient monumental legacies of India. The fort glitters under moonlight in the night.

    Afternoon @ around 2pm proceed from hotel by your vehicle (car/ micro van /bus) to a pre-fixed point (30 minutes drive approximately). At this point you will board the jeeps and drive to the Temple of Lord Ganesha and the Step Well to view the ancient Silk Route and the Trading Points at the Bio reserve. This takes about 30 minutes.

    Then, board the Elephant for an experience with the Tigers and the Lions, passing through the forest, arrive at the Step well, Sura Ki Baori (11th Century) - the safari is for about 45 minutes. After the safari Fresh fruits and drinks will be served at the Baori.

    Board the jeep and drive up to the palace where your vehicle (car/micro van/bus) awaits you to take you back to your hotel.

    Day 7: Jaipur - Fatehpur Sikri - Agra - B, L

    After breakfast drive to Agra via Fatehpur Sikri, the deserted red sandstone city that was built by Emperor Akbar as his capital.

    Fatehpur Sikri. - The imperial city of the Mughal dynasty between 1571 and 1584, Fatehpur Sikri was built by Mughal Emperor Akbar. The architectural grandeur of this deserted city cannot be described in words and one can only experience the aura of its magnificent edifices by seeing them. Fatehpur Sikri is the most popular day excursion from Agra, the city of Taj and capital of invincible Mughals for a long time. Later continue drive to Agra.

    Day 8: Agra - B, L

    After breakfast, visit world Famous Taj Mahal & Agra Fort. Visit that magnificent monument to love - Taj Mahal, built by an emperor in memory of his beloved queen. Construction of the Taj Mahal began in 1631, and is believed to have taken 18 years to complete, with over 20,000 craftsmen working around the clock. The design and construction is said to be that of the legendary architect, Ustad Ahamad Lahori. What makes the Taj Mahal unique is its perfect proportions, distinct, femininity, medium of construction and ornamentation.

    Later visit the Agra Fort and the city. At the impressive Agra Fort you are taken through the chambers of this royal residence. As you drive through the city witness the local life and bazaars (markets) and the hustle bustle of everyday India. Afternoon at leisure.

    Days 9-10: Agra / Delhi & Depart from Delhi - B, L, D

    This evening after enjoying a farewell dinner; transfer to the airport to board your flight onward. With this your journey to the magical land comes to an end.

    Day 1: Arrive New Delhi

    Arrive tonight in India's bustling capital city of Delhi, where you are greeted with a traditional Indian welcome and escorted to your hotel.

    Day 2: Akshardham Temple Sightseeing

    After a leisurely morning, visit the beautiful Akshardham Temple. Built without steel, it consists of ornately carved pillars, domes, quadrangled shikhars, and 20,000 statues of India's great sadhus, devotees, acharyas and divine personalities. This evening welcome cocktail and dinner. (BLD)

    Day 3: Delhi Sightseeing

    This morning's tour of the Old Delhi includes the Red Fort, Raj Ghat - a memorial to Mahatma Gandhi, Ashoka Pillar and the mile-long Chandni Chowk bazaar. Afternoon embark on a tour of New Delhi.     Day 4: Delhi / Varanasi

    Today fly to Varanasi (India's holiest city), located on the sacred Ganges River. Upon arrival, you are met and transferred to your hotel. In the afternoon visit the stupas, ruins and museum at Sarnath, scene of Buddha's first sermon. This evening take a rickshaw to the Ganges to view the evening ceremony.     Day 5: Varanasi / Khajuraho

    Early morning enjoy, the sunrise on the Ganges River with a boat ride followed by a walking tour of the old city. Later fly to Khajuraho, capital of the 9th to 13th century Chandela Dynasty. Upon arrival you are met and transferred to your hotel. Visit the Western group of temples containing the largest and loveliest temples, including Kandariya Mahadev (representing Chandela art at its best). (BLD)

    Day 6: Khajuraho/Agra

    This morning visit the principal Eastern group of temples, modest and less ornate than the Western Group. These temples reflect the simplicity inherent in Jainism. Later, drive to Jhansi to board the train to Agra, en route visiting Orchha, a medieval
    city frozen in time and space, existing to this day as it must have in the 17th century. Upon arrival you are met and transferred to your hotel. (BLD)

    Day 7: Agra Sightseeing

    An early morning visit to the Taj Mahal presents an opportunity to admire this dream in marble as it welcomes the rising sun. After breakfast, explore the 16th century Agra Fort with its battlements, apartments, gardens and audience halls. Later visit the magnificent Taj Mahal. Built by Shah Jahan as a memorial to his beloved queen Mumtaj Mahal. The monument is made of white marble and is a fine example of symmetry, balance of design and traditional inlay work. (BLD)

    Day 8: Agra / Fatehpur Sikri / Jaipur

    Depart by surface for Jaipur, en route visiting Emperor Akbar's 16th century abandoned city of Fatehpur Sikri. This ghost town is remarkably well preserved and presents a perfect synthesis of Muslim, Hindu and Jain architecture. The sculptured columns bear mute testimony to this gallant experiment to unite Hindus and Muslims. Continue on to the “pink city” of Jaipur. Upon arrival, check in at your hotel. (BLD)

    Day 9: Amber Fort Excursion & Jaipur Sightseeing

    In the morning visit the mountain fortress of Amber, riding royally atop regally painted and decorated elephants. Later, enjoy a tour of Jaipur City, visiting Hawa Mahal or the “Palace of Winds,” City Palace and the ancient observatory. (BL)

    This morning fly to Udaipur known as “City of Lakes”. Upon arrival, you are met and transferred to your hotel. Your afternoon tour of Udaipur includes City Palace, Saheliyon ki Bari and the folklore museum where you can see a presentation of the string puppets typical to this area. (B)

    Day 12: Ranakpur Excursion

    Today's excursion brings you to the beautifully sculpted 15th century Jain temples of Ranakpur. The intricately carved white marble is well preserved. Stop for lunch at Maharani Bagh. (BL)

    Day 13: Udaipur/Mumbai (Bombay)

    Fly to Mumbai (formerly Bombay), India's most cosmopolitan city. Your tour of Mumbai includes the “Gateway of India,” the Hanging Gardens and the Malabar Hills, the Prince of Wales Museum, Dhobi Ghat, Marine Drive, the Gandhi Memorial Museum and Jain Temple. Room will be provided for wash and change at your hotel. Late evening transfer to international airport for flight back home. (B)
