    Day 1: Arrive in Mexico City.

    (Sat.) Welcome to Mexico. At 7 pm, meet your traveling companions for a welcome drink hosted by your Tour Director, who will prepare you for your upcoming adventure.

    Day 2: Mexico City.

    (Sun.) A full day to become familiar with the highlights of this former Aztec capital. Founded in 1521, Mexico City is colorful, vibrant, and cultured. This morning’s city tour will travel along the famous boulevard of Paseo de la Reforma to the main square of Zocalo. We’ll visit the CATHEDRAL and the NATIONAL PALACE before seeing the famous Zona Rosa (Pink Zone), where many of the city’s best restaurants and shops can be found. We then visit the FRIDA KAHLO MUSEUM and see Casa Azul, “the Blue House,” where this famous surrealist artist was born, grew up, and later lived with her muralist husband, Diego Rivera. The home gives you insight into the lives of this famous bohemian couple and their international and eclectic set of friends, including Nelson Rockefeller, George Gershwin, and Leon Trotsky. We return to Mexico City, where the remainder of the day and evening are at leisure. (B,L)

    Day 3: Mexico City–Teotihuacan–San Miguel de Allende.

    (Mon.) We leave bustling Mexico City to visit TEOTIHUACAN, “the place where men became gods.” While visiting this major archeological center—one of the best preserved in the country—you’ll see the main landmark, the Pyramid of the Sun, built around 100 AD. For an impressive overview of the city, a steep climb of 242 steps takes you to the top where a temple once stood. There’s also time to visit the Pyramid of the Moon, the Palace of the Quetzal Butterfly, and the Palace of the Jaguars, named after its feline mural paintings. We continue to San Miguel de Allende for an overnight stay. Populated by many American and Mexican artists, this charming town is full of galleries, shops, and colorful winding streets. (B,L,D)

    Day 4: San Miguel de Allende–Guanajuato.

    (Tue.) After breakfast this morning our city tour shows us the pretty colonial streets and buildings of San Miguel de Allende, which have been protected since 1926 when the whole town was declared a national monument. Afterward, we visit a LOCAL STUDIO to learn more about the unique artist community found in San Miguel de Allende. We continue to Guanajuato, considered by many to be Mexico’s most picturesque city, for a 2-night stay. (B,L,D)

    Day 5: Guanajuato.

    (Wed.) Birthplace of Diego Rivera and important for it silver mining and production since 1548, Guanajuato has been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. On this morning’s city tour, see UNION PLAZA, the busiest and most central of the town’s seven plazas; JUAREZ THEATER, a magnificent opera and concert hall; the Diego Rivera House; and the historic Alhondiga. Admire the many colonial churches that adorn the town. Guanajuato is renowned for its high-quality handicrafts so after lunch, maybe shop for local pottery or leather goods. The remainder of the day is at leisure. Your Tour Director will have suggestions for additional sightseeing and the best places to shop and dine. (B)

    Day 6: Guanajuato–Pátzcuaro–Morelia.

    (Thu.) Leaving Guanajuato this morning, we travel to Pátzcuaro, one of Mexico’s most fascinating towns. Sitting high on a hillside above the shores of Michoacan’s largest lake we’ll explore Pátzcuaro’s winding cobblestone streets, lined with whitewashed walls and heavy wooden doorways that reveal alluring glimpses of timeless colonial courtyards. There’s time to discover more of this charming town on your own. Later this afternoon we arrive in Morelia, capital of the state of Michoacán. (B,L,D)

    Day 7: Morelia–Mexico City.

    (Fri.) Built in the 16th century, Morelia is an outstanding example of urban planning which combines the ideas of Spanish architecture with the Mesoamerican experience. More than 200 historic buildings, all in the region’s characteristic pink stone, reflect the town’s architectural history. Your tour includes a visit to the GOVERNMENT PALACE as well as the murals of native Michoacán painter Alfredo Zalce. Later this afternoon we return to Mexico City. This evening your Tour Director hosts a festive farewell dinner. (B,L,D)

    Day 8: Mexico City.

    (Sat.) Your vacation ends this morning with guests departing on independent schedules. Transfers are provided to the Mexico City International Airport. (B)

    Day 1: Mexico City, Mexico - Tour Begins

    Explore Mexico's colonial cities where archaeological sites represent ancient cultures and churches, haciendas, town squares and lively mariachi bands set the stage for your adventure. Enjoy a welcome dinner.

    Day 2: Mexico City, Mexico

    Join a local expert to explore Mexico City's Centro Histórico – a UNESCO World Heritage site built atop of the ruins of Tenochtitlán. Discover the Plaza de la Constitución; visit the 16th century Metropolitan Cathedral; view the Aztec ruins of Templo Mayor and travel to Our Lady of Guadalupe pilgrimage center’s famous shrine. Enjoy a presentation on the uses of the cactus plant followed by local craftsmen demonstrating the art of stone crafting and jewelry making. Visit Teotihuacán, a city dating back to 200 BCE. Stroll the Avenue of the Dead for views of the Pyramid of the Sun and Pyramid of the Moon. Tonight, attend a folklore ballet showcasing Mexico's dances, music and colorful costumes.

    Day 3: Mexico City - Querétaro - Guanajuato

    Today you visit two UNESCO World Heritage sites. Travel to Querétaro, enjoying time to explore the historic center where you find beautiful examples of Baroque architecture, restaurants and tree-lined boulevards featuring exquisite colonial buildings. Continue to captivating Guanajuato and admire the photogenic twists and turns of its famous streets.

    Day 4: Guanajuato - Dolores Hidalgo - San Miguel de Allende - Guanajuato

    Enjoy a demonstration of Talavera pottery-making at a local workshop where artisans hand-paint designs on vases and tiles. Continue to Dolores Hidalgo, the pueblo where Father Hidalgo proclaimed the independence of Mexico in 1810. A short ride brings you to charming San Miguel de Allende, a UNESCO World Heritage site. A local expert leads your leisurely-paced walking tour of this well-preserved 16th century town. Visit Atotonilco el Grande sanctuary, featuring illustrative murals. Enjoy the remainder of the day exploring San Miguel's cobblestone streets and antique shops.

    Day 5: Guanajuato - Zacatecas

    Explore Guanajuato with a local expert. At the Alhondiga de Granaditos Museum, learn why this colonial city is considered the cornerstone of Mexico's Independence movement. Stroll the main plaza of Union Garden and Mercado Hidalgo before venturing underground to explore a network of tunnels under Guanajuato’s streets! This afternoon, travel through picturesque countryside to Zacatecas – “the city of light and color” and a UNESCO World Heritage site.

    Day 6: Zacatecas

    Travel in a mine car to the depths of El Eden Silver Mine for a captivating tour. Then, enjoy a panoramic cable car ride from El Grillo Mountain to Bufa Hill for incredible city views. Witness how Zacatecan silversmiths fashion metal into jewelry at a local workshop. Visit the fascinating Rafael Coronel Museum with its collection of 4,000 hand-carved and painted masks. Enjoy a walking city tour featuring the Plaza de Armas and the Baroque Cathedral of Zacatecas.

    Day 7: Zacatecas - Tlaquepaque - Guadalajara

    Travel to Tlaquepaque, Jalisco, a renowned artisan center. Enjoy time to shop, sample local cuisine and listen to mariachi bands. Visit Hospicio Cabañas, a UNESCO World Heritage site. In the early 20th century, the chapel was decorated with a series of murals by José Clemente Orozco, one of the greatest Mexican muralists from the period. Enjoy a panoramic tour of Guadalajara.

    Day 8: Guadalajara - Tequila - Guadalajara

    The Agave Landscape and Ancient Industrial Facilities of Tequila, a UNESCO World Heritage site, is set on 85,000 acres of blue agave fields. Visit an agave field where a local worker demonstrates the planting and cultivation of blue agave. Explore the Mundo Cuervo distillery and museum to see the process of converting the blue agave to various grades of tequila.

    Day 9: Guadalajara - Pátzcuaro - Morelia

    This morning, visit Pátzcuaro, Michoacan, founded in 1540 and known for its grand architecture and natural beauty. Enjoy free time to mingle with locals and explore beautiful Vasco de Quiroga Square. Visit Morelia where the traditions of the Tarascan Indians are evident in their traditional attire and handicrafts.

    Day 10: Morelia

    Enjoy a leisurely-paced locally guided walking tour of Morelia's historic city center, a UNESCO World Heritage site. View the National Palace, the 18th century aqueduct, and the Baroque-style cathedral. Your afternoon is at leisure.

    Day 11: Morelia - Mexico City

    Return to Mexico City and tour the National Museum of Anthropology, designed by Pedro Ramirez Vasquez. A local expert brings to life engaging exhibits like the Aztec calendar stone, giant stone Olmec heads, and Maya treasures recovered from the sacred Chichen Itza. This evening, enjoy a farewell dinner.

    Day 1: Arrive in Cancun, Mexico.

    (Sun.) Welcome to Cancun! At 7 pm, meet your traveling companions for a welcome drink. Your Tour Director will prepare you for your upcoming adventure.

    Day 2: Cancun–Tulum–Coba–Chichen Itza.

    (Mon.) First, we’ll visit the beachfront ruins of TULUM. This stunning 12th-century site, once inhabited by the Mayas and Toltecs, is set atop coastal cliffs overlooking the Caribbean. From here it is a short drive to COBA, an important Mayan city during the 8th and 9th centuries. Although it had an estimated population of 50,000, it was abandoned for unknown reasons. The present-day village straddles Lago Coba and is surrounded by dense jungle. In the late afternoon, arrive at Chichen Itza, where the renowned Mayaland Hotel is your home for the next two nights.     Day 3: Chichen Itza.

    (Tue.) A full day to explore this most important and strategic ancient city. CHICHEN ITZA was built by the Maya between 600 and 900 AD, abandoned by the end of the 10th century, and re-established in the 11th and 12th centuries, possibly by the Toltecs. The site sits amid 3 miles of cleared forest scrub. Visit the BALL COURT, site of many human sacrifices; EL CASTILLO, a formidable building dedicated to the high priest; and the CENOTE SAGRADO, the sacred well once filled with priceless treasures offered to the gods. This evening, enjoy the SOUND & LIGHT SHOW at Chichen Itza. (B,L,D)

    Day 4: Chichen Itza–Izamal–Uxmal.

    (Wed.) Today we drive to Izamal, a charming town that was once a classic Mayan religious site and later a center of the Spanish attempt to Christianize the Maya. Tour the Convent, built between 1549 and 1562, and visit the local market before enjoying lunch at an area restaurant. This evening, enjoy an exciting SOUND & LIGHT SHOW. (B,L,D)

    Day 5: Uxmal–Kabah–Merida.

    (Thu.) This morning we visit UXMAL. Built during the Classic Period, Uxmal is the most famous of the ruins in the Puuc region. Its architecture is considered one of the masterpieces of the old civilization. Later, visit KABAH, a small but interesting archaeological site famous for its PALACE OF MASKS. Journey on to Merida, capital of the Yucatan state and its colonial heart. This evening, take a stroll around this friendly town and explore some of the interesting shops and restaurants. Your Tour Director will have suggestions for the best way to spend your evening. (B,L)

    Day 6: Merida.

    (Fri.) Conquered in 1542 by Francisco de Montejo, Merida remained under Spanish control for the next 300 years. This morning’s city tour showcases a variety of European architectural styles by visiting the CATHEDRAL, the zocalo (main square), and the elegant Paseo Montejo boulevard. Later, visit the MUSEUM OF ANTHROPOLOGY & HISTORY with its excellent displays of Mayan artifacts from various sites in the Yucatan. Enjoy leisure time this afternoon to relax in your centrally located hotel, shop for local wares, or maybe visit nearby museums such as the Museum of Popular Art, showcasing Mayan art, handicrafts, and clothing.     Day 7: Merida–Ek Balam–Valladolid–Playa del Carmen.

    (Sat.) Today we visit the enormous and elaborate Acropolis pyramid located inside the Mayan site of EK BALAM. Meaning “black jaguar,” Ek Balam was at the height of its importance as a Mayan city during the Late Classic Period (600-900 AD). When the Mayas abandoned the site, it went under cover as the dense low-lying jungle of the Yucatan engulfed it. Found by archaeologists and adventurers, its restoration has been ongoing since 1997. Next we visit the small but charming town of Valladolid before making our way to Playa del Carmen. This evening your Tour Director hosts a festive farewell dinner. (B,D)

    Day 8: Playa del Carmen.

    (Sun.) A full day to enjoy this tropical paradise. Relax by the pool, play a game of tennis, or do some golfing. Browse in the shops or enjoy one of the local restaurants. Your Tour Director will have suggestions for additional sightseeing. (B,L,D)

    Day 9: Playa del Carmen.

    (Mon. & Tue.) Spend two more days in this world-renowned playground for sun and fun. Relax on the beach, shop for souvenirs, or maybe take a ferry to Cozumel for some world-class snorkeling and diving. Not far from Playa is the magnificent Xcaret, or for eco enthusiasts, there is the nearby Sian Ka’an Biosphere Reserve. Whatever your interest, Playa del Carmen is sure to delight. (B,L,D daily)

    Day 1: Cancun, Mexico

    Begin in the Caribbean jewel of Mexico’s Yucatan Peninsula, Cancun. Join your fellow travelers for a welcome reception and dinner.

    Day 2: Cancun - Ek'Balam - Merida

    Visit the archaeological site of Ek'Balam (Star Jaguar). Dating from A.D. 900, this city-state was known for its richly carved stone and numerous hieroglyphic texts. Continue to Merida, capital city of the Yucatan. This evening, a presentation on Yucatecan cuisine is followed by dinner at a local restaurant.

    Day 3: Merida

    A tour of Merida – founded in 1542 – features the archaeological finds at the Museum of Anthropology and the impressive art collection at the Governor's Palace. See the Plaza Principal, Cathedral of San Ildefonso, and Paseo Montejo with its gorgeous 19th-century homes. The remainder of the day is at leisure.

    Day 4: Merida - Uman - Ría Celestun Biosphere Reserve - Merida

    This morning, stroll through a market in the town of Uman, learning about the produce used in local cuisine. Continue to Ría Celestun Biosphere Reserve. During a boat excursion, watch for local wildlife, including sea turtles, pelicans, and one of the world’s largest colonies of pink flamingos.

    Day 5: Merida - Hacienda Sotuta de Peon - Uxmal - Merida

    Experience the golden days of the haciendas at the Hacienda Sotuta de Peon. Tour the buildings and plantation grounds that still produce henequen (sisal). Ride an historic mule-drawn cart and enjoy a swim in a limestone cave, known as a “cenote.” This evening visit Uxmal where a dazzling sound and light show illuminates elaborately carved facades. On the way, hear the tales surrounding the apocalyptic predictions for December 21, 2012, when the Maya Long Count calendar ends.

    Day 6: Merida - Uxmal - Becal - Campeche City

    Travel to Uxmal, a UNESCO World Heritage site, and formerly one of the largest Maya city-states. Take a guided tour of the impressive “Pyramid of the Magician.” Visit the community of Becal, where a local Maya artisan demonstrates the making of the famous Panama hat. Later, travel to Campeche, home of Maya culture for more than 2,000 years. Enjoy dinner in the historic Plazuela de San Francisco at a Campechano restaurant savoring local specialties amidst a lively ambience.

    Day 7: Campeche City - Edzna - Campeche City

    Tour the archaeological site of Edzna, the “house of the itzaes (echoes).” Explore the great acropolis, including the central square, the Building of the Five Floors, Temple of the Masks, and Platform of the Knives. Visit the 18th century Fort San Miguel which houses the Maya Culture Museum, featuring spectacular jade masks recovered from nearby sites. Later, enjoy a leisurely-paced walking tour of Campeche’s city center, a UNESCO World Heritage site. This 16th-century walled city features more than a thousand historical buildings. With the remainder of your day at leisure, explore this fascinating city’s customs and culture; walk along the seaside promenade; browse the antique shops; or explore the many forts that once protected the city from pirate attacks.

    Day 8: Campeche City - Chichen Itza - Valladolid

    This morning investigate the renowned city-state of Chichen Itza, a UNESCO World Heritage site – once the largest political and religious center in the Yucatan. Marvel at the architectural skills and ingenuity of the ancient Maya civilization. Tonight, enjoy an overnight stay in the colonial city of Valladolid, “The Pearl of the East.”

    Day 9: Valladolid - Cancun

    Return to Cancun and your oceanfront resort. Stroll the white sand beach, lounge by the pool or join an optional activity to take full advantage of Cancun’s turquoise seas. Celebrate an unforgettable trip to the Yucatan with a farewell dinner overlooking the Caribbean Sea.

    Day 1

    Arrive in Cancun - Welcome to Mexico! Your journey begins with a warm greeting at the airport and a complimentary private transfer to the tour hotel. Your Tour Director is available this afternoon to welcome you and answer your questions. Meet at 6:00 p.m. for a Welcome Drink at the hotel.

    Days 2-3

    Cancun / Ek Balam / Valladolid / Merida - Head inland and stop at the beautiful Mayan archaeological site of Ek Balam. After an overview of the site and region by your Tour Director, continue to the first capital city of the Yucatan – Valladolid. After a brief city tour, travel to the Colonial city of Merida, also known as “The White City.” The rest of the day is at leisure. (FB,L)

    DAY 3 MERIDA SIGHTSEEING AND AT LEISURE - Your Tour Director will introduce you to a hidden treasure today. This morning, explore historic Merida. Then visit the famed Mayan temples of Uxmal, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. End the day at your hacienda where there is time to relax or take a dip in the inviting pool.     DAY 6 UXMAL / SOTUTA DE PEON / IZAMAL / CHICHEN ITZA - Start the day at the living-museum of Hacienda Sotuta de Peon. Learn about haciendas, which operated like the southern plantations of the United States, and about the production process of henequen (sisal fiber). Tour the still active processing plant and the beautiful main house and then board picturesque muledrawn rail carts for a tour through the fields to a beautiful cenote (natural well leading to an underground river). Continue on to the magical city of Izamal for a visit to the golden Franciscan monastery. Stop at a local hammock workshop to learn about this ancient Mayan product. Then head for the hotel nestled next to the most famous Mayan archaeological icon and UNESCO World Heritage Site – Chichen Itza.     Day 1: White Party at Basic Discotheque

    We're doing it Diddy style, so come dressed in all white as if you were attending one of Puff's extravaganza parties in the Hamptons. Then board a private boat for a scenic cruise on the Sea of Cortez. After lunch at a waterfront restaurant, visit the first modern cultured pearl farm in the Americas for a guided tour. Next, travel south to the foothills of the Sierra Madre mountains and the colonial town of Alamos. Designated as a National Monument, the city’s cobblestone streets are lined with beautiful Colonial and Spanish buildings. Travel from sea level to 7,500 ft in less than 150 miles, passing through tunnels and over soaring bridges. Disembark in Posada Barrancas, your home for the next two nights. (FB,L,D)

    DAY 6 COPPER CANYON SIGHTSEEING - Spend the day exploring this dramatic area, one of the last undiscovered treasures of North America. Hear about the geological forces that created the seven individual canyons, collectively known as the Copper Canyon. Also, spend time with the local Tarahumara Indians, a seminomadic tribe whose ancestors have lived in the canyon’s caves for thousands of years.     Days 7-10

    Alamos / El Fuerte - Alamos’ colonial history is brought to life on this morning’s guided walking tour. You also have the chance to meet local Mayo Indians and learn about their culture, language and customs. After lunch, journey into the foothills of the Sierra Madre mountains to the town of El Fuerte. This evening, you are personally welcomed by a member of the Torres family who will take you to the family’s beautifully restored mansion built in the late 1800s. Here, you will be treated to a performance of traditional Hispanic and Indigenous dances followed by a delicious dinner featuring local Black Bass, just-caught in the El Fuerte River, and fresh local produce from a nearby farm.     DAY 8 CASAS GRANDES / PAQUIME / PHOENIX - Today, visit the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Paquime, a vestige of the great Chichimeca civilization. Many of the ancient dwellings and pyramids have been excavated and can be explored. Then continue across the Chihuahuan Desert, back into the U.S. Stop in Tucson before arriving back in Phoenix.     Today we rise early and take advantage of our own private entrance to the archaeological site so that we are amongst the first to explore Chichen Itza, one of the New Seven Wonders of the World. Under the expertise of our Tour Director, we explore this grand archaeological complex, one of the most impressive and spectacular of all the sites of the Mayan civilization. We then continue our journey to Coba where we enjoy lunch alongside a pleasant lake. We then visit ancient Coba by pedicab to view its graceful, towering temples, some of the highest in Mexico. Coba’s site is unique as it has been barely restored, merely cleared, and only a few of the estimated 6500 structures have been uncovered. We then head toward our oceanfront resort in Playa del Carmen on the acclaimed Riviera Maya. (Full breakfast / Lunch / Dinner)

    DAY 4 EL FUERTE / COPPER CANYON / POSADA BARRANCAS - Today, board your private rail car and start your journey on the “Train Ride in the Sky” into Mexico’s Copper Canyon. Taking almost 100 years to build in this rugged terrain, the rail line is considered to be an engineering marvel. Travel from sea level to 7,500 ft in less than 150 miles, passing through tunnels and over soaring bridges. Disembark in Posada Barrancas, your home for the next two nights. (FB,L,D)

    Day 5

    DAY 5 COPPER CANYON SIGHTSEEING - Spend the day exploring this dramatic area, one of the last undiscovered treasures of North America. Hear about the geological forces that created the seven individual canyons, collectively known as the Copper Canyon. Also, spend time with the local Tarahumara Indians, a seminomadic tribe whose ancestors have lived in the canyon’s caves for thousands of years. Then visit a local medicine man and discover the natural remedies used by the Tarahumara Indians. (FB,L,D)

    Day 6

    DAY 6 COPPER CANYON / CASAS GRANDES - Travel to Creel via the Oteros Canyon before descending from the Copper Canyon into the Chihuahuan Desert and the city of Casas Grandes. This evening, observe live pottery firing by local potters who created the Mata Ortiz Pottery style. Later, get together for a festive Farewell Dinner. (FB,L,FD)

    Day 7

    DAY 7 CASAS GRANDES / PAQUIME / PHOENIX - Today, visit the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Paquime, a vestige of the great Chichimeca civilization. Many of the ancient dwellings and pyramids have been excavated and can be explored. Then continue across the Chihuahuan Desert, back into the U.S. Stop in Tucson before arriving back in Phoenix.     Day 1: Arrival in Tucson, Arizona.

    Welcome to Tucson! At 7 pm, meet your traveling companions at the welcome reception hosted by your Tour Director. (WR)

    Day 2: Tucson–Tombstone–Nuevo Casas Grandes, Mexico.

    This morning, journey south for a stop at Tombstone, “The Town Too Tough to Die,” where you’ll have time to visit the OK Corral and wander the streets of this historic town. Afterward, we cross into Mexico at the border towns of Douglas and Agua Prieta. Then, continue to the fertile valley of Casas Grandes. Spend the night in the town of Nuevo Casas Grandes. (B,D)

    Day 3: Nuevo Casas Grandes–Chihuahua.

    During the 13th and 14th centuries, pottery was once the principal ware of trade, and this morning includes a visit to a local POTTERY STUDIO. See how the traditional hand-forming and painting methods are still used today. Next, visit PAQUIME, the most important archaeological site in northern Mexico. Once an important trading center, it combines elements of the Pueblo Indian civilization from the southwestern United States with Mesoamerican influences. Continue on to explore Chihuahua, made famous by Mexican revolutionary leader Pancho Villa. Dinner this evening is at your hotel. (B,D)

    Day 4: Chihuahua–Creel.

    This morning, visit the ornate 18th-century CATHEDRAL, the GOVERNMENT PALACE with its unique murals, and the former HOME OF PANCHO VILLA, converted by his widow into a museum. Head west to Cuauhtémoc, the center of Mexico’s Mennonite population, where you’ll enjoy a traditional homemade Mennonite lunch. Then, travel through pine forests to the lumber town of Creel, situated at an elevation of 7,500 feet in the Sierra Tarahumara mountain range. There’s time this afternoon and evening to explore this quaint town and shop for local wares. (B,L)

    Day 5: Creel–Divisadero.

    After breakfast, drive through the VALLEY OF THE MUSHROOMS with its strange monolithic formations. See the CAVE DWELLINGS of the Tarahumara Indians, famed for their colorful tribal customs and prowess as long-distance runners. Afterward, it’s a special visit to a local kindergarten and elementary school to learn more about the children and their culture in this remote area of the world. Depart for Divisadero and catch your first views of the spectacular Copper Canyon. Enjoy a visit to PIEDRA VOLADA, a giant rock miraculously perched on the edge of a precipice. Tonight, savor the sunset as it colors the canyon walls and leaves you with some remarkable memories and photos. (B,L,D)

    Day 6: Divisadero–Copper Canyon Train–El Fuerte.

    This morning, relax and enjoy the solitude and beauty of Copper Canyon. You may choose to join an optional hiking trip along the rim or perhaps an optional horseback riding excursion. After lunch, embark on your rail adventure through El Cañon de Cobre. Experience some of North America’s most magnificent scenery as your TRAIN winds its way along the rim of steep chasms, descends mountain passes reaching 7,000 feet, and crosses canyons and rivers. Dinner this evening will be at your hotel. (B,L,D)

    Day 7: El Fuerte–San Carlos.

    For three centuries El Fuerte has been an important commercial and agricultural center. We’ll start the day off with a short walking tour of this picturesque colonial city and see the plaza, city hall, and colorful market place. Then, head north along the Sea of Cortez, reaching the resort of San Carlos by late afternoon. Just a short drive from the old port of Guaymas, the Bay of San Carlos is rich with fish and seabirds, and its many beaches attract visitors from around the world. The remainder of the day is yours to relax on the beach, take a dip in the pool, or enjoy a cool drink while watching the swaying palm trees. (B)

    Day 8: San Carlos.

    Today is at leisure. Enjoy a relaxing stroll along the beach, take an optional fishing excursion, or join us on an optional boat ride on the pristine waters of San Carlos Bay. While keeping an eye out for dolphins and other marine life, enjoy complimentary margaritas, soft drinks, and snacks. Tonight, a farewell dinner celebrates your Copper Canyon adventure. (B,D)

    Day 9: San Carlos–Tucson, Arizona.

    Head north to the United States today and pass through the Sonoran capital of Hermosillo. Cross the border at Nogales to continue your stay in Tucson. (B)

    Day 10: Tucson.

    Spend two full days at the desert oasis of Tucson, the authentic Southwestern destination with desert, cactus, and spectacular mountains in every direction. Play golf at some of the best courses in the country, energize yourself at one of the many spas, learn more about Old West history, or simply kick back by your hotel’s pool. (B daily)

    Day 11: Tucson.

    Spend two full days at the desert oasis of Tucson, the authentic Southwestern destination with desert, cactus, and spectacular mountains in every direction. Play golf at some of the best courses in the country, energize yourself at one of the many spas, learn more about Old West history, or simply kick back by your hotel’s pool. (B daily)
