Continue to the nearby picturesque village of Sidi Bou Said, whose architecture was inspired by its Andalusian settlers.     Day 4: Northwest Tunisia Excursion

    This morning depart Tunis for the northwest part of the country, taking scenic, rural roads, with your first main destination being Bulla Regia. This well-preserved site has numerous examples of underground architecture, as well as well-preserved mosaics. From Bulla Regia, you drive north southeast to Dougga. Dougga is Tunisia's largest Roman site. Covering some sixty acres, Dougga was known as the city of temples and its existence is thought to date back to the 4th century B.C. Following your visit to Dougga, you head west to rural, northwest Tunisia

    Day 5: Sbeitla & Oasis Region Sightseeing

    Today depart the northwest and head south along the western portion of Tunisia. You will have the opportunity to visit the ruins of Sbeitla. Known by its early Punic name, Sufetula, this impressive site seems to be literally in the middle of nowhere. During Roman times, olive trees were cultivated in this region and provided a flourishing olive oil export trade to Italy. From Sbeitla, continue southwest, with a late day arrival in Tozeur

    Day 6: Morning in Tozeur, Dar Cherait Museum

From Douz, travel through the semi-arid desert, eventually arriving to the region of Matmata. This region's crater-like topography is dotted with troglodyte dwellings. Then you will head east to the coast and take a ferry boat to the island of Djerba

    Day 8: Island of Djerba Tour

    Begin the day with an island tour of Djerba, an charming isle with a special Berber character.     Day 5: Biarritz & Bilbao Excursion with Guggenheim Museum

    Today's sightseeing includes a full day excursion to Biarritz and Bilbao. Originally a quaint fishing village, the scenic seaside town of Biarritz became a favorite haunt of Europe's royalty in the 19th century. Continue to view the famous Hotel Du Palais, originally built by Napoleon III as a seaside villa for the Empress Eugenie. Its Second Empire style is the epitome of the elegant tastes of those who came to settle here. Enjoy free time to explore this stylish resort on your own. Continue to the town of Bilbao for visits to the Old Quarter and the Guggenheim Museum, designed by the North American architect Frank O. Gehry. Considered one of the 20th century's most influential architectural masterpieces, the museum houses an impressive collection of modern art by Spanish masters including Picasso, Dali and Miro. Return to San Sebastian

    Day 6: Wine Tasting in Rioja Region

    This morning, depart San Sebastian and drive to the wine region of Rioja. Stop at a typical bodega, a Spanish winery, for a tour of the cellar and wine tasting. Drive through the scenic vineyards, stopping in the charming wine town of Haro for a lunch break on your own. Upon arrival in Burgos visit the Cathedral of Burgos, the only cathedral to be designated a stand-alone UNESCO World Heritage Site and the legendary burial place of El Cid ** Mar 27 departure: please note that the Burgos Cathedral will be closed for Easter, and no inside visit possible

    Day 7: Segovia City Tour

    This morning, enjoy a sightseeing tour of Madrid. Drive along the Grand Via through the Opera District, Plaza de Colon, and view the Royal Palace. The tour will end at the Prado Museum, where you will be able to admire works of art by famous artists such as El Greco, Velázquez, and Ribera
